Dear Dash,
I am an aspiring Fashion Designer/Stylist with the talent to create images of spectacular hip designs and the urge to show my work to the world and to style wonderful clients. However financially I am unable to do so in my country as couture is yet to become popular within Jamaica as only international designers show their work here on fashion week or local designers who have foundation already and over the years been supported and sponsored by corporate groups and entertainers to show their work. Companies and entertainers have no desire in sponsoring upcoming and young talent like myself here, they see it nonprofit-able and a waste of time. So in other words it’s very stagnant, you try so hard and there are no ways and means to prosper in delivering, the salary here is deplorable and jobs are hard to get. Yes there are social networks, websites and Loan Company to build but as I say it’s very stagnant here.
A finished product looks perfect, well tailored and material looks expensive, but how do you get such a finish without a capital. Basically my point as asking for your help in funding my line at the next Caribbean Fashion Week or an opportunity to work with your company as a Fashion Designing, just take a chance and see my work.
I am aware there are thousands of fashion designers out there with the qualifications and unique skills and the desire to design and create and mostly work with your fabulous company, but I am what you call doubtless, whatever it may be, life’s a challenge and I have to push hard to take care of my family who is very poor. I am also a graphic designer, I work with adobe Photoshop, adobe illustrator and coral draw. Give me a chance to succeed as I’m trying to accomplish my dreams, if you have the necessary power to help me, I will appreciate your effort.
