Kristen Stewart to Expand her Acting Chops in New Movie, May Even Bite Her Upper Lip for a Change
Good news, Kristen Stewart fans; you’ll soon be getting a chance to see her act in a movie.
For the last two years now, Stewart’s big-screen presence has primarily consisted of swooning over her co-star Robert Pattinson (as if that required any dramatic chops) and perfecting her patented blank-eyed, lovelorn gaze.
But K-Stew has a new project, The Yellow Handkerchief, coming to theaters in February, and producer Arthur Cohn tells People magazine that we’re going to see a whole new side to the Twilight star.
In the film, which also stars Maria Bello and William Hurt, Stewart plays Martine, a troubled teen in the American south who embarks on a road trip through post-Katrina Louisiana with a bunch of strangers (you can check out the trailer here).
According to Cohn,
“The part of Kristen in Twilight is completely different from the one she plays in The Yellow Handkerchief, which is particularly interesting for Kristen’s fans all over the world. In my personal opinion, from a pure acting point of view, The Yellow Handkerchief was a more difficult part to play.”
Talk about setting the bar high! Dare we hope that K-Stew really stretches her acting chops and—who knows—maybe arch an eyebrow in a scene or two?
Might as well stock up on Oscar polish now, Kristen…

Uh, I’ve seen the trailer of this movie. The whole cast has BUTCHERED the Southern accent. I saw nothing but a whole lot of suckage. I won’t be seeing this one.

Stewart is actually not that bad an actress, considering her history. Though she totally blows in Twilight and New Moon, I thought she was awesome in Panic Room and Into the Wild.

wow. to 30yearoldtwifan… just because people don’t like her acting doesn’t mean they’re “jealous haters”. i’m a 25 year old twi fan of the books but not of the movies. i had high hopes for the movie but even though i thought they really looked the part, i didn’t feel the chemistry between them which made it unbelievable to me. i don’t know if she’s necessarily a bad actress but, in my opinion, i wish they had cast someone else for the part.

It’s necessary to say those words when those are what is felt by the writer. Don’t censor what you don’t know.

Also, I guess Bruce Dern didn’t know what he was talking about when he said an actress with her talent will come along again in 2035 and used her name in the same sentence as Alfred Hitchc*ck. Sounds like you need to get another profession. By the way, she did Yellow Handkerchief when she was 16.

look k-stew haters…everyone knows Jodie Foster is a great actress right? There’s a lot of similarity these 2 have their facial expressions don’t change much in every movie they make but they can deliver them believably, unlike your other stars who try to be cute in all their movies. I think K-Stew deserves more credit than this. as acting is still considered art, and art can only be valued subjectively; yes, i can deny you. i’m 23 years old, and i think her acting is amazing. her style and philosophy of acting is different, but the scene with her dad in adventureland was incredible. all this hate for someone like her, and on the other side, nothing on so many others her age, who can’t act, can’t sing and can’t behave like a real person. hypocritical much, celebuzz?

She act naturally. She is portraying the role as what she can delivers. Directors didn’t object any of her portrayals and she still continues to have roles even just small ones as what she call it as a job, an acting job and she doesn’t care if it is only an indie film and if you don’t like her acting, you don’t need to say that she needs acting classes. What about all of you who criticize and hated her, can you act? Do you have an acting qualifications?
not to put Stewart up there as some kind of goddess, cause she ain’t. but folks lets remember something. when you are given less than material and add in less than direction you are going to get a crap performance. not even the best actor can polish a turd. and in many ways that’s what the Twilight movies are. an entertaining depthless turd.
but they make money and they generate press and press means recognition and that means bank (in the sense that producers and studios will believe that box office will come if the actor is in the project) and that helps with an acting career. time after Twilight will tell if she can act or not, same for the two gents. won’t take much time since they are being cast in things right now before the buzz about them dies.
but in the meantime lets remember that it ain’t 100% just them we are seeing up there.

I wouldn’t say she’s a bad actress at all. Stephanie Meyers casted her because she has that slightly awkward yet ordinary feel to her acting. That’s how her character is in the book. Showing strong emotions isn’t really what Bella does.
