Is Kristen Stewart Sick of ‘Twilight’?
The Twilight Saga launched Kristen Stewart into mega-stardom, but if one of her co-workers is to be believed, starring in the vampire series is really starting to suck for her.
While promoting Stewart’s upcoming movie, Welcome to the Rileys (out November 5 in the United States), director Jake Scott let slip—okay, flat-out stated—that K-Stew has grown weary of portraying lovestruck vampire groupie Bella Swan:
“[Kristen]‘s been playing this same character in—what?—two or three movies now, and that frustrates her…She wants to be taken seriously as an actress—and the crazy thing is, before Twilight, she was doing that kind of work…She’s very proud of her work in this movie.”
Though Rileys—in which Stewart plays underage New Orleans stripper Mallory, who’s taken under the wing of traveling businessman Doug Riley (James Gandolfini)—is just now receiving its theatrical release, it was actually filmed in late fall 2008, right about the time that the first Twilight movie was released, making her an overnight star.
Luckily for Stewart, she’ll be free of her burden once she wraps the two-part Twilight finale Breaking Dawn, which she’s currently preparing to film. In the meantime, she’s upped her non-Twilight cred considerably in the Joan Jett biopic The Runaways and the recently lensed adaptation of Jack Kerouac‘s classic Beat Generation novel On the Road.

srsly girl?? You think she doesn’t hate twilight? In the beggining she flat out hated on the fans too&she had to take everything back! of course she says she loves twilight now in interviews, she has to, her people forced her to, DUH!! She’s ungrateful&every1 knows itcause she shows it!! And many many many people will be happy she falls back to oblivion after the twi films are done, besides kristen&Jake Scot!

well, Harry Potter can be taken more seriously than the anti-feminist, clingy and obsessive love story of Twilight. but dang, Harry Potter has had SOOO many movies, but i still take the actors in it seriously. while i’ll always see taylor lautner the guy that looks good with no shirt.

There really should be reading comprehension and intelligence tests for all people before they post. Sure, everyone’s pointing out how actors like Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson must be taking the cake, but let’s be honest here; most, if not all, of the HP characters are wonderfully constructed, and the plot has never worn thin throughout a whopping seven books.
Twilight, on the other hand, is Stephanie Meyer’s (rather thinly veiled) wet dream. Jacob and Edward are both pedophiles, and Bella is a whiny, spineless girl who, despite how many times Meyer will insist, I COULD NOT relate to. Whether or not anyone thinks Stewart is a plausible actress, I am rather pleased that even she understood that a cult phenomenon does not a legend make.
To be honest, I’ve only seen one movie, other than Twilight, that she was starring in – Speak, a favorite book of mine. She actually wasn’t bad.
