With Cameron Diaz dealing with the aftermath of her father's sudden death in Southern California, her What Happens in Vegas costar was forced to fly solo at the art film's U.K. premiere.

Ashton Kutcher explained to People magazine on the Vegas red carpet that the beachy blonde was unable to attend the event because she was back at home, "helping out with services and stuff."

The reformed prankster expressed his dismay that his bubbly other half was not present: "I am desperately missing her tonight. We made a present, and it's like I have to open it alone—and you want to open the present you want to share."

Nice sentiment, Ash. Unless as a present he means one of those jack-in-the-box surprises, because a punk'ing might not go over that well with Cameron at the moment.
