Larry Birkhead doesn't just keep tabs on his daughter—he reads them too.

While shopping at a Ralphs supermarket in Studio City, California, yesterday, the biological father of Anna Nicole Smith's two-year-old daughter Dannielynn took time out to peruse the latest issue of Us Weekly, which features the tyke on the cover.

The cover story discusses how Dannielynn's first word was "mama," and how the father and daughter have gotten their lives back on track since Smith's February 2007 death.

It seems strange that Birkhead would have to read a magazine to find out what he and his daughter are up to. But then, compared to some of the things he's done, this is actually pretty normal.
