Lauren Conrad's fashion designer ambitions may have stalled like a fish out of water, but the girl can still move magazines.
The 22-year-old Hills star (for the time being, anyway) sold nearly half a million extra copies of Cosmopolitan for Hearst Magazines, and not by going door to door.
The all-American blonde gave the magazine it year's best issue by appearing on the November 2008 cover.
According to Folio, Hearst Magazines president Cathie Black, while speaking at the Women's Wear Daily Media + Style summit on Thursday, announced that the November 2008 Cosmo sold 450,000 more copies than the November 2007 issue.
With the current economic crisis—let alone the nosedive that the magazine industry as taken in recent years—these statistics can mean only one thing: The women of the world crave the inside dirt on LC.
Will the magazine numbers translate into boffo sales for Conrad when she cranks out her series of thinly veiled autobiographies next year?
Time will tell, but one thing's clear: In the magazine world, The Hills are alive with the sound of ringing cash registers.
