I think that he does need to lose some weight if he wants to get back into the game. He use to be pretty hot, but now he just let himself go- and it is showing

I always theorized that one reason he gained weight (other than, of course, a natural effect of getting older) was that he wanted to distance himself from his younger, teen idol self. He was so skinny in movies like What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, Romeo + Juliet, even Titanic. I think probably gaining weight and filling out his face made him feel and look less like the pretty boy he was in danger of being typecast as.

I’ve thought dear Leo has been looking a little fleshy for quite some time now. It has the effect of making his facial features appear like they’ve all migrated to the center of his big round face. He is a movie star, and as such, is paid obscene amounts of money to appear in films in which viewers are forced to look at him, larger than life for at least 2 hours. Again, let’s reflect…he is not an insurance agent, a TV repairman, or one of those guys who cleans out septic tanks. He is a movie star. Thus, unless he is starring in a biopic of Val Kilmer or John Travolta, it is in his best interest to get in shape.

Awwe. I don’t like that side of movies/acting. I think he looks MUCH better now, being too muscular is not attractive.

Leonardo does not need to lose weight. He looks awesome just the way he is. If he loses 30 lbs, there will be nothing left but his beautiful blue eyes, blonde hair, and bones. This story is fabricated by some nobody trying to gain attention.

Leonardo is the most handsome man on the planet! I love how secure he is with himself that he doesn’t need to rely on looking like a meathead or junkie-looking guy.

This story is a total lie. Leo does not have to do the weight loss crap because he can actually act unlike Bale.

I think that it is nice that male celebs are starting to allow themselves to look the way there bodies are meant to and either way he still looks good.

And thus, the double standard. If Leonardo DiCaprio happened to be Leona Dicaprio, she would have been vilified to no end for not losing weight sooner. It is alright for men to gain a few pounds to make them more ‘manly’ or to ‘add character’ but a woman in Hollywood gains weight and it’s a whole other ball game. Jane, you are probably right in your evaluation, he probably did gain weight to ‘man up’, but it’s a sad reflection on society that he wasn’t put under the same scrutiny that his female counterparts are until now. Even still, he is losing weight for a role, not necessarily because he wants to. Lucky Leo.

guest: Did you read the first page of comments? At all? There’s just as many people saying ‘dough-boy’ has looked this ‘bad’ for the last couple of years and that it’s about time he loses weight. Stop trying to spark a chauvinism debate.

If he diets as strictly as they say then he will lose out in valuable vitamins and minerals. He should be on Marilyn’s Plan. At least he will keep up with his body’s nutritional needs. He could lose all of his body fat and still be healthy but dieting is such a no go zone on Marilyn’s Plan.

Leonardo is such a handsome man no matter what. But, if anything he might need to lose about 20 pounds and then pack them back on with muscle, he’s not overweight he just hasn’t been working out and doing the weights. I think this side of Hollywood is tough too but he does get paid a lot of money to appear in movies for his roles. I don’t like skinny men either, but if he looses just a bit and then just muscles up he’ll be fine. He probably has been living the good life and enjoying himself and not worrying about the whole “body building” thing. He’s not “fat” like they make it seem it’s just that he hasn’t been working out for the “muscle / six pack” look but it is true that the camera adds weight to them. I personally do not like “skinny” men, in real life (not hollywood) he would be an extremely handsome man.

OMG he is fine, maybe he could shed a few pounds and tone up a bit, but 30 lbs!? I was starting to enjoy Leo having some meat on him, I mean he was a stick when he started his career!

I thought he looked really nice with his shirt off, 30 lbs is too much to lose. Leo your a nice looking man don’t let everyones harsh comments dictate what you do , my family and I think your great.
