Frequent frowner Lindsay Lohan has been spending time with her presumed girlfriend Samantha Ronson on the set of her current film, Labor Pains.

The two can often be seen holding hands (along with other public displays of affection) at their favorite hangouts in Los Angeles. On Sunday, the freckled Mean Girls star was seen leaving Barneys in Beverly Hills to meet up with her DJ lady friend after an hour of solo shoe shopping.

According to friends of the couple, they are "both really happy," mostly because Lohan "feels safe" in the company of Ronson.

With Sam, Lindsay knows there's no danger of a trendy unwed pregnancy.

    I'd feel safe in Samantha Ronson's presence too. She's homely enough to scare off the most hardened criminal.
