Lisa Marie Presley has taken to her MySpace Celebrity blog to express her sadness for friends John Travolta and Kelly Preston, as well as responding to critics of Scientology.
Presley, 40, posted today that "two of my very good friends [Travolta and Preston], the sweetest people in the world have just encountered the worst possible tragedy a parent could be forced to endure," referring to the death of the couple's 16-year-old son Jett.
"My heart is crying and bleeding for them. I personally would not have it in me to bury my own child," said the daughter of legendary performer Elvis Presley.
Lisa Marie has long been affiliated with the acting couple because of their mutual participation in the Church of Scientology. Presley is not only sending her heart out to the bereaved, but is also voicing disapproval of those putting her faith under fire.
"I have noticed that for the most part, people and the media have been very sympathetic and respectful, but there are those certain ones that want to use this horrible tragedy as an opportunity to once again, blame and or attack Scientology," Presley said.
Presley maintains that the religion does believe in medical care and even medication, stating "if one is sick, they go to the doctor, if a medication will make it better then they take it."
For most of Jett's life, observers speculated that the boy was autistic, a condition Scientologist's are said to ignore as an actual affliction.
"Whatever medical and or physical condition Jett had, I can tell you first hand that his parents were on a tireless, never ending quest to get and provide him with the absolute best care," Presley says, "medically, physically, emotionally, medicinally and spiritually."
They certainly managed to provide loyal friends, such as Lisa Marie.

Sorry, but sometimes difficult questions must be asked. Especially if asking them might help prevent future tragedies of this nature.
Ask what ? Do you have any doubts that someone of John Trivolta's means and resources did not provide the best care possible for his son? You are an asshat.
tromba, YES, there are doubts, if this were the first time something like this has happened in connection with the cult, it wouldn't be an issue. But this ISN'T the first time, or even the second or third. How many more people need to die before it is "acceptable" to address this issue? Are you really so "enturbulated" (google that) by anthony's comment that you have to automatically resort to childish name calling attacks? That's really "ethical" of you. /sarcasm
