The first new episode of Saturday Night Live in 2009 will get a pop/country infusion from 19-year-old Taylor Swift.
The singer, who's album Fearless has been riding high at #1 on Billboard's Top 200 for much of the past month, took to her MySpace blog to unleash the good news on her fans.
"Something I've been dreaming about and hoping for and wishing for years... I just found out that I get to play on Saturday Night Live!! January 10th!" Swift ecstatically writes.
Saturday will have another, equally-special meaning for Taylor.
"It's my mom's birthday, and I don't think either of us would've believed you if you would've told us a few years ago that we'd get to spend her birthday in New York City—at Saturday Night Live!" she writes. "Wow. It's pretty unreal."
The episode will be hosted by How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris.
Doing SNL will no doubt be a less awkward, tense affair than Taylor's gig on Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve with Ryan Seacrest, where the platinum-selling blonde crooner wound up standing alongside her recent ex, Joe Jonas.
