Madonna, who lost out on her bid to adopt three-year-old Malawian orphan Mercy James last week, is planning to build a home in Malawi, the Sun reports.

"Madonna has a big, beautiful plot of land over there already. She's planning to build a girl’s school in the Chinkhota village and those designs are well under way," a source notes. "But she’s gone back to the designers and asked if they could accommodate a family home on the plot or on adjacent land."

The Material Mom is supposedly building the home so that her adopted son David Banda can maintain a stronger connection to his homeland.

Of course, the fact that the Material Mom—who plans to appeal the adoption ruling—lost her adoption bid because she didn't meet Malawi's residency requirements might have something to do with it too.
