What Madonna wants, Madonna gets. And that apparently includes whichever Malawian orphan happens to catch her eye.
British newspaper the Sun reports that the Material Mom is being given the green light to adopt Mercy James, despite a legal setback earlier this year.
In April, a Malawian court rejected Madonna's adoption bid for the child because she didn't meet Malawi's residency requirements for adoption, but apparently she has persuaded a three-judge appeal panel otherwise. Two of the judges have already submitted reports recommending that the adoption go forward, while the third is believed to be "in complete unison with them."
"The paperwork is being typed up now," says a source. "All recommendations are in favor of the adoption taking place. Mercy should start packing her bags. She's off to America."
If all goes according to plan, the ruling will be announced next Sunday at Malawi's Supreme Court of Appeal.
According to a friend of Madonna's the singer is "ecstatic...She made a promise that she wouldn't give up on Mercy and, believe me, she could move mountains when she's this determined."
