Madonna and Guy Ritchie: Next Stop, Splitsville?
After eight years of marriage, is Madonna preparing to break ties with her husband, director Guy Ritchie?
According to U.K. Website Holy Moly! the Hard Candy singer has retained top British divorce lawyer Nicholas Mostyn, who represented Paul McCartney and successfully whittled Heather Mills‘ settlement to a fraction of a billion dollars.
Madge’s alleged maneuver follows longstanding rumors that the pair’s marriage has been on the rocks, despite their repeated and vehement denials. (In fact, these photos show the couple after an evening of carousing at Harry’s Bar in Mayfair last night.)
If Madonna has indeed hired Mostyn, Ritchie could be in for a rough time of it.
According to the site, she and Ritchie don’t have a prenuptial agreement, and her choice of attorney would signal that she won’t be handing over a significant portion of her fortune easily. Of course, the singer would also theoretically be entitled to half of the Snatch lensman’s wealth, too. Chortle.
Also at issue would be custody of the couple’s son Rocco and recently acquired Malawian infant David Banda.
Presumably, Madonna would retain possession of any gym equipment the couple may own.
