It's been seven years since Glitter.

But lest anyone think that movie killed any remaining acting aspirations within Mariah Carey, the low-budget drama Tennessee—starring Mimi and Gregory Peck's son Ethan—hits theaters this December. 

Surely this was timed just right to be considered for the Oscars?

In the flick, the self-managed Carey plays a down-on-her-luck waitress named Krystal who yearns to land a successful music career.

Of course, Tennessee might not be the only Mariah Carey release on the horizon.
