Meg Ryan divulges the rocky circumstances of her marriage to Dennis Quaid in the latest issue of In Style magazine.
"Dennis was not faithful to me for a long time, and that was very painful," the 46-year-old actress admits, adding, "I am not a victim. I was there. I was in that marriage for a really long time."
Ryan describes the couples' 2000 break-up as "incredibly liberating...Now I was utterly free. I didn’t have to care about what people thought. I have gotten to do what I guess I secretly wanted to do. Be totally under the radar and live my life."
In the past, Ryan has placed the blame for her romantic woes on professional pressures, telling Hello! magazine, "It's very difficult to be a career person and have a relationship. I didn't succeed at doing it at all."
Hmm. Meg's currently on the big screen in The Women, playing a wife whose husband cheats on her. Perhaps the key to balancing her romantic relationships and a career resides in choosing roles that parallel her personal life.
In any case, Ryan will no doubt be able to look beyond her romantic woes and put on a happy face—with a little help, of course.
