Mel C. (a/k/a Sporty Spice, a/k/a Melanie Chisholm) has announced that she is with child, reports the Daily Mail.

"Some happy news. Well, I can now announce that Tom [Thomas Starr, her husband] and I are expecting a baby and we are very happy," Mel, 34, wrote on her website.

Sporty says that she's taking time off from the Spice Girls "to be a mum" but that "she will be back." And a source reports that she will remain in contact with the other Spice Mommas during her pregnancy.

"The girls are so pleased for her and have said they're only a phone call away to pass on any parenting tips."

The other Spice Girls have given their children some nutty names—Brooklyn, Cruz, Phoenix, Bluebell. Time will tell if Mel follows suit.

Luckily Mel didn't have to battle to determine who the father is, unlike a certain Scary cohort of hers.
