Attention, ladies; Mel Gibson is back on the market!
People magazine reports that Gibson and his wife of nearly 30 years, Robyn Moore, have filed for divorce.
"Throughout our marriage and separation we have always strived to maintain the privacy and integrity of our family and will continue to do so," the couple announced in a statement.
TMZ notes that court papers, signed by Moore on Thursday, cite "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split.
Gibson and Moore, both 53, met in the late 70s and married on June 7, 1980. The pair have seven children, ranging in age from 28 to nine years old. Moore is seeking joint physical and legal custody of their youngest, child, Tom, who turns 10 tomorrow and is the couple's only remaining minor offspring. She's also seeking spousal support and attorneys fees.
According to sources, the couple have no prenuptial agreement, which under California law would require that community property, such as Gibson's sizeable earnings, would be split 50/50.
Shocking, really, that any woman would let Gibson slip through her fingers. The guy seems like such a catch.
