M.I.A. Double-Disses Lady Gaga and Oprah Winfrey
M.I.A. is getting to be pretty efficient with her trash-talking. The controversial “Paper Planes” singer, who earlier this year raised eyebrows by dismissing Lady Gaga as a Madonna rip-off, has once again taken a public swipe at the Pantless One—and this time she’s thrown in a jab at beloved talk-show host/one-woman empire Oprah Winfrey for good measure.
During a recent interview with Time Out magazine (via 411mania), the British songbird recounted a chilly encounter with Winfrey, and dismissed the media mogul’s praise of the “Poker Face” chanteuse:
“Oprah seemed like she was giving me the cold shoulder. She was with Iman (Bowie). Iman was always dancing with me, hugging and kissing me, but Oprah seemed really p*ssed off with me. Also she made this huge speech at the ball praising Lady Gaga and about how she (Lady Gaga) is helping Americans to be the best of themselves. There’s millions of other Americans who represent that for me. Is (it) about numbers? About how much you’re selling? Is it truly about the journey? Because (Lady Gaga’s) journey isn’t that difficult: to go from the f*cking Upper East Side to a f*cking performing arts school and on to a stage at the museum of f*cking wherever. That journey’s about four miles.”
It remains to be seen how far M.I.A. will have to journey in order to avoid the wrath of Oprah’s rabid fan base, after they get wind of this. Oh, and speaking of “Paper Planes” …

I don’t get why people are so obsessed with her. She’s boring – it’s always the same sh*t with her: six outfit changes at awards shows, nudity, outrageous attention-seeking outfits, ‘controversial’ videos, silly comments.
Granted she can sing but as for her songwriting abilities – 2/5.

Like when the video for telephone was released she said something along the lines of ‘This video is going to be revolutionary/it’s about right’s for homosexuals/I’m so proud of it/I wanna make history blah blah blah…’ – THE SONG IS ABOUT A GIRL WHO DOESN’T WANT TO ANSWER HER TELEPHONE IN THE f*cking CLUB.
I wish people like Florence (of Florence and the Machine), Feist, La Roux and Speech DB who are real artists would get half the exposure that the likes of Lady Gaga, Rihanna and Beyonce get but they never do. Why? Because they don’t show all they’re bits and bobs.

@afropeanut i love how you think your so enlightened on how gaga had it so easy. yes she did grow up in a wealthy family, and yes she did go to a very nice school. but she didn’t use her parents money to get to the top, her parents actually didn’t approve of her performances when she first got big. and the school she went too actually had nothing to do with her getting a record deal. she had too work her way up to the top, ever since she was like fourteen. ooh, and the crap your saying about her song writing skills? have you ever heard her music or any of her other songs that haven’t hit number one? because they’re amazing and inspirational. and yes some might say that shes attention seeking, but i just think shes herself. so before you try to talk next time, how about you try not to talk like you shoved your tampon up your ass and not be so negative just because shes well liked. thank you.

1. I was agreeing with M.I.A on the fact that there are other people whose journeys are more important.
2. I never claimed to be enlightened to any extent on how LG had it so easy.
3. So what if she never used her parents money to get to the top – she always had them to fall back.
4. Yes I have hear heard her albums. The Fame is good for what it is – ear worm music with no true substance. As for The Fame Monster ,it isn’t as good.
5. I’ll continue with my negativity as long there continues to be more glorification of women who are perceived as sexy. That is an injustice that you, as a man, will never be able to fully understand.

mia’s not a sellout. her songs arent about sex, love, boys, and other generic things gaga sings about constantly. she’s much deeper and for that i have respect for her which i cant say for many of the other “artists” in the music industry.
