This is an excellent year of you’re shopping for a show-biz hunk.

First George Clooney and Sarah Larson call it quits. Then John Mayer and Jennifer Aniston take the express train to Splitsville. And now, legendary heartthrob Michael Bolton is once again a free man.

People magazine reports that Bolton and his fiancée, Nicollette Sheridan, have “amicably ended their engagement,” according to a Sheridan rep, who adds, “They appreciate your respect for their privacy in this matter.”

The couple’s relationship had been on-again, off-again for the better part of two decades. They initially dated for five years starting in 1992, then reconciled in 2005, announcing their engagement in 2006.

It’s not clear why the two broke up this time. Maybe Ol’ Trout Pouter got tired of constantly cleaning Bolton’s hair out of the shower drain. Or Michael saw the new Desperate Housewives promo.

But does the reason really matter? Michael Bolton is single! Try not to trample each other in a mad stampede, girls…
