Michael Jackson's Mother Receives Temporary Custody of His Kids

Though Michael Jackson did everything in his power to keep his children out of the public eye during his lifetime, the offspring of the singer, who died unexpectedly on Thursday, were thrust into the spotlight in a big way on Monday.

Us Magazine reports that Jackson's mother, Katherine Jackson, filed a petition for guardianship over the King of Pop's three children—Prince, 12, Paris, 11 and Prince Michael II, 7 today. The petition claims that Prince and Paris have "no relationship with their biological mother," Debbie Rowe (Prince Michael II was birthed by a surrogate).

And according to the Los Angeles Times, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff has granted Jackson temporary guardianship of the children for the time being.

The filing goes on to note that the whereabouts of the surrogate who birthed Prince Michael II are "unknown." (The woman's identity was never revealed.)

Us confirms that Jackson's three orphans have been staying with Katherine at the family's home in Encino, California, since their father's death on Thursday.

But establishing guardianship for the children might not be all that clear-cut. Though Rowe divorced Jackson in 1999 and gave up custody rights during a 2005 legal battle, news broke last week that she later fought to have them restored.

According to a source, Rowe is "inconsolable" in the wake of her ex-husband's death. "She will always love Michael and she always considered him a dear friend."

Judge Beckloff has set a hearing for July 6 at 8:30 a.m. for the custody case.

They should be with the godfather. That's his job, Michael made him godfather for this purpose. I think placing the kids with the grandmother or debbie rowe would not be in their best interest. When kids are orphaned I think it's important to place them with someone who will raise them in the same style as the parents. Their world is already topsy turvy, let's limit the damage as much as possible!

OMG I can not see Joe or Katherine raising these children. She allowed Joe to dominate their children into the creatures they have become today!! I think these children are going to be scarred for life no matter where they go but Joe is already talking new contracts, is he USING MJs children? I dont know about the bio-mom or if she should have rights but I know this much as much as I hate Foster Care (I was raised in it) I think these kids would fair so much better away from the majority of the Jackson family!!

Hold-up... I am the mother of 3 wonderfully black children and 2 wonderfully white children and 4 wonderfully multi-raced children. Who are you to judge who a father or mother can be based on skin color? We all know that is what you are doing. No one has ever said these children are his biologically, they do not need to be to be HIS!! I was adopted by a wonderful family who happened to have 22 other children. For you make such a derogatory statement disgusts me....

The only family they know are the Jackson, their mother is only un illusion, she is completely unknown for them, so let them be with the Jacson.Not all of them are twisted minded. Must be somebody with common sense and young able to take care of them.

All these idiots! Yes, Michael was very candid about the abuse. As was his sister, LaToya. The father however was NOT granted custody, or even temporary custody. Michael mom was granted temporary custody. There's still the matter of his will. And YES there is one.

if she consider that to be a mother for 15 milions dolar is enought to abandon kids and not to care about them so long period of time this is not a good mother only for interest maibe M.J. parents can give beter education than mother who leave kids behaind until naw -i personal just kik her aut but if she love so much can see them with program

i think the grandparent's should get the custody of the children straight up !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!
