Michael Phelps to Host ‘Saturday Night Live’

Aug 28, 2008 at 12:29pm

After dominating the swimming portion of this summer’s Olympic games in Beijing, Michael Phelps will be braving the waters of live televised comedy, according to People.

The half-man, half-dolphin will host the season debut of Saturday Night Live on September 13, making his acting debut on an episode that will feature Lil Wayne as the musical guest.

Phelps set a new record earlier this month by scoring eight gold medals at the Olympics, breaking fellow water rat Mark Spitz‘s previous record of seven. Whether he’s as good at snagging laughs remains to be seen.

Good luck, Mike! As comedians often say, diving is easy. Comedy is hard.
