Michael Phelps Wins More Gold...the Other Kind

Olympic hero (and possible amphibian) Michael Phelps will adorn the cover of the new Sports Illustrated, wearing his eight 2008 gold medals around his neck.

The SI site notes that the evening the 23-year-old Olympian won his eighth gold medal was the most viewed Saturday night program on NBC since 1990, with 31.1 million viewers.

Phelps was said to have been earning $5 million in corporate endorsement deals before the 2008 games. After his performance in Beijing, Speedo gave him a $1 million bonus.
