Miley Cyrus’ Alleged Stalker Cops a Plea, Gets Off With Probation

The man accused of stalking Miley Cyrus will not do any jail time.

E! Online reports that 53-year-old Georgia resident Mark McLeod has copped a plea in his case and has been sentenced to two years’ probation.

McLeod was initially arrested on disorderly conduct charges in June, after making “inappropriate comments” to young girls near the Tybee Island set of Cyrus’ movie The Last Song. He subsequently told authorities that the Hannah Montana star had been communicating with him via photos and her TV show, and that he and the singer were engaged. (He also reportedly tried to head-butt a police officer when they approached him.)

In August, he was arrested at his Appling, Georgia, home and slapped with an attempted stalking charge.

Yesterday, it was announced that McLeod wouldn’t be charged with a felony, as prosecutors didn’t believe they had sufficient evidence, but they transferred the case to state court, where McLeod struck a plea bargain.

In exchange for pleading guilty to misdemeanor obstruction of justice and disorderly conduct charges, McLeod received 24 months’ probation. He was also instructed not to use a computer during the probationary period, was told to stay out of Chatham County, where Tybee Island is located, and to steer clear of Cyrus and her family.

Oh, and he will also have to undergo a mental health evaluation, which seems like a really, really good idea.

Let us know in the comments section: Do you think McLeod got off easy?
