Miley Cyrus Tweets Her Tolerance

on Apr. 21, 2009 06:00 PM / 97 Comments

Miley Cyrus and Miss USA contestant Carrie Prejean don't see eye to eye on the issue of gay marriage—and the Hannah Montana actress is making the distinction known via the magic of Twitter.

Though she lost the Miss USA competition on Sunday, Miss California Prejean made headlines this week, due to her answer to a judge's question about the legalization of gay marriage.

"In my country, and in my family, I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman," Prejean replied.

Earlier this week, Prejean defended her statement, calling it "biblically correct."

Now Cyrus has reached out to that particular judge, letting him know that—despite her own devotion to the Lord's teachings—she sits on the opposite side of the fence from the beauty-pageant contestant when it comes to the topic of gay marriage.

"That's lame!" Cyrus wrote in a series of tweets that began yesterday morning. "God's greatest commandment is to love. and judging is not loving. thats why christians have such a bad rep. <3"

Later, she added, "Jesus loves you AND your partner and wants you to know how much he cares! That's like a daddy not loving his lil boy cuz hes gay."

And now we know where Miley Cyrus stands on the subject of gay marriage. One more thing to thank God for.

Sorry Miley, Study and read your Bible, Carrie has it right according to God's Truth.

miley, you are the one judging - you are saying that everyone who doesn't believe in gay "marriage" hates gays - that is not true and it is hateful for you to day it - also God wants us to obey certain rules about sex for our own good - not to ruin our lives from lack of "fun" - didn't your daddy tell you to read the Bible - try reading Romans chapter one - it is clear AND accurate

Good for Miley. It takes courage to stand up for something that is so unpopular in Christian circles. And I'm pretty sure the Bible has nothing to say on civil marriage between two people of the same sex. Thank you Miley for being an ally to the thousands of gay and lesbian youth that look up to you. God's greatest commandment, that outweighs all the others, is to love your neighbor as yourself, and that is what you are doing. God bless you!

obviously I meant "say" not "day" - I will pray for you Miley - so that you stop judging people so wrongly - I'm against gay "marriage" because it is a HORRIBLE idea to apply laws created with respect to people who can get "pregnant" suddenly and without notice during the course of their relationship - I love gay people but I do not want 14 year old boys "marrying" 50 year old men with their parent's signature (just because the man promises the parents a good inheritance, etc.) - that is a real threat with what you advocate - if you love gay people you would be against that - how dare you accuse me of hate - I tolerate other opinions - you and Perez Hilton do not - so I will pray for you both and pray for carrie prejean's safety and yes, you should read Romans One in the GOOD BOOK

amy - you can love your neighbor without being in favor of "gay marriage" - the fact you and miley cannot see that is a tragedy because you have, in fact, set yourselves up to be intolerant of other opinions - this event shows how gays are the ones having a hard time with tolerance - did you see what Perez called Miss California - do you condone that? THAT IS NOT LOVING YOUR NEIGHBOR - WHY DO AMY AND MILEY NOT HAVE THE GUTS TO SPEAK OUT AGAINST THE HATEFULNESS OF PEREZ WHICH IS MUCH WORSE THAN ANYTHING CARRIE PREJEAN SAID

Miss Prejean is absolutely correct. Biblically speaking in Genesis 19 God destroyed two cities (Sodom and Gomorrah) that practiced the gay lifestyle. In Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13 God's Word describes gay practices to be detestable. Romans 1:26-27 describes men and women exchanging natural relations for unnatural relations. God created Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve. I believe that explains what God's intentions are for marriage.

Crystal, God bless you as you seek truth in your life and peace - you have obviously felt pain and I pray you find relief from that - fyi - if you believe in Love , you believe in God - they are one and the same - blessings and good luck on your journey - the truth is; God loves crystal, amy, miley, carrie and me (and perez) and we should all treat each other well - that is for sure - I do not know why people are so mean to each other but I do know that just being against gay "marriage" is not being mean - best wishes, jo

The previous statement is not intended to condemn the person , but the lifestyle. God loves all of us, heterosexual or homosexual, but His Word is very clear about the homosexual lifestyle. We as Christians are to love everyone, even homosexuals.
