Miley Cyrus Tweets Her Tolerance

on Apr. 21, 2009 06:00 PM / 97 Comments

Miley Cyrus and Miss USA contestant Carrie Prejean don't see eye to eye on the issue of gay marriage—and the Hannah Montana actress is making the distinction known via the magic of Twitter.

Though she lost the Miss USA competition on Sunday, Miss California Prejean made headlines this week, due to her answer to a judge's question about the legalization of gay marriage.

"In my country, and in my family, I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman," Prejean replied.

Earlier this week, Prejean defended her statement, calling it "biblically correct."

Now Cyrus has reached out to that particular judge, letting him know that—despite her own devotion to the Lord's teachings—she sits on the opposite side of the fence from the beauty-pageant contestant when it comes to the topic of gay marriage.

"That's lame!" Cyrus wrote in a series of tweets that began yesterday morning. "God's greatest commandment is to love. and judging is not loving. thats why christians have such a bad rep. <3"

Later, she added, "Jesus loves you AND your partner and wants you to know how much he cares! That's like a daddy not loving his lil boy cuz hes gay."

And now we know where Miley Cyrus stands on the subject of gay marriage. One more thing to thank God for.

Oh Mley Miley Miley is your desperate need to be like by all so much that you would turn your back and misconstrue the word of God. Yes God says for us to love but we are to love the perssn not the sin they are commiting. I know homosexuals and we are friends, we have a respected understanding that I love them beyond words but I do not agree with what them do. We all know that I have a certain standard at wich my family will allow certain things in our home and in our lives. We accept them AND thier partner in out lives but we do not have to like, embrace or ok thier gay life style. Its a good thing YOUR not "judging".
It is sad to hear you speak on this issue bcs you represent the next generation to govorned out world and it is very sad.
Before you speak or in yur case husge you really need to get into the word and study what you are talking about.
I dont disrespect your view, it just hurts my heart ot see you are so misguided and you have such a strong voice amoung the youth.

uuugghh * sighs* and this is why i stopped believing in god... i thaught god was suposed to luv u no matter what and have peace on earth.... thats why i dont believe anymore.. it doesnt feel right anymore! dusnt even feel like god wrote the bible *no comments* hold the stupid comments for urself thank u! ps.. i do believe in peace and luv ~~`

Crystal, No disrespect but God never promise peace on earth. He promised that if you followed him you WOULD go through strife (As a matter of fact probably more than others bcs you choose his way). He promised that you would not go ALONE he would be by yor side. This society has become such a "feel Good" society that people take bits and parts of the Bible and use it for thier own purpose and to prove points that are not thier. I dont know if you have ever been wronged in your past by a church or someon in a church BUT for them I apologize to you for that. When people are hurt where money, politics and religion are involved the pain goes deep. But just bcs you dont believe doesnt make it not true. Just bcs I dont understand Algebra (failed it in HS) and just bcs it is a forgien thing to me doesnt mean i just stop believing in it. It still has a purpose in our lives and still will go on with or with out me.
I hope one day you will change yor mind

miley, you are the one judging - you are saying that everyone who doesn't believe in gay "marriage" hates gays - that is not true and it is hateful for you to day it - also God wants us to obey certain rules about sex for our own good - not to ruin our lives from lack of "fun" - didn't your daddy tell you to read the Bible - try reading Romans chapter one - it is clear AND accurateYES! I completely Agree!

    As do I

Jessica - I will try to type better than I did for Steve (sorry Steve) but when you say "good for miley" and defend same sex attraction as being unplanned, are you also trying to say that everyone must believe in Gay marriage or else they are "haters" ? I love gay people - but I think applying the same exact legal status to same sex couples and opposite sex couples is a very bad idea - why do you not understand that I can do both ? .... p.s./pssst ...wink wink ......let me let you in on a little secret - there IS a God (one in fact) and He/She does love all of us - even the people who disagree with you - and do not forget, this is America - Miss California was asked her opinion and now everyone from Perez Hilton to Miley Cyrus is scoffing at her for giving her honest opinion once asked - even though Carrie knew that judge was going to make her lose something she had fought so hard to win - now that is courage - GOOD FOR CARRIE - that is what we should all be saying as Americans - even if we disagree with her --- and to steve and jessica and all who may doubt the Bible, here is one last question - if the Bible is so lame or inadequate as you say, how come it did such a good job at predicting things like this ???? (see Romans chapter one) and how come it is so good at predicting things about Israel??? ....just asking ........... God Bless ...... GO CARRIE ..... sorry Miley, you are wrong about this .... I agree with Obama .... marriage definitions and laws should not be distorted just because some are not happy with a civil union .... God bless "gay" people ALL TRUE CHRISTIANS LOVE YOU - even those who thing gay "marriage" is not a good idea

  • Gotta love these so-called Christians, whining because their intolerance isn't being tolerated. Guess what, you don't get to play bully and victim at the same time. Pick a side and stay on it!!!

I have to say I agree with Miley on this one. Frankly, I do not see what is wrong with gay marriage. One of the greatest things a person can do is love. It doesn't matter if the person you love and want to be with for the rest of your life is a man or a woman, as long as you love them for who they are, and they love you too, that's all that really matters. At least in my opinion. I respect that other people believe differently and I'm not saying that they HAVE to change their beliefs because they're wrong. I just don't see why gay marriage is a problem, that's all. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and that's mine.

    (:

Not only does the bible imply the fact that gay actions and marriages are forbidden, but also the Qoraan and the Tawrat in muslims and jews respectively assert it. Gay "love" is unnatural and against ethics and Mily is too young to say anything about the subject from the first place. And regarding the beauty pageant contestent , well "In God she trusted" and the americans failed her.

Actually, science has proved that some animals have homosexual relationshps sometimes, so I don't think it's unnatural.

I did not get to see the pageant but saw pictures of some of the women in bikinis. The 7th Commandment says "You shall not commit adultery." Jesus taught that to even look at a woman to lust after her is to commit adultery with her already in his heart. (Matt. 5:27, 28) I wonder how many scantily-clad contestants incited men (or women??) to lust in their hearts after them? Furthermore, the Bible says that to break one of the commandments is to break them all. (James 2:10). If we are to be consistent witnesses, we need to do so without hypocrisy. This is one reason why those outside the "church" blaspheme the name of God-they see us as hypocrites. Faith without works is dead. (We are saved by grace through faith, it is a gift) Jesus said many will came Him Lord on the Day of Judgment, who have done many things in His Name, but He will say, depart from Me, you workers of lawlessness. (Mattl 7: 21-23) Let's all examine our hearts to see if we are truly in the faith. As far as judging, in the same passage where Jesus said, "Do not judge, ", (Matt. 7:1) He went on to say judge with righteous judgment. (Matt. 7: 5) We are to judge our brothers by the fruit(Matt.7:19,20).www.thegoodperso ntest.com
