Miley Cyrus Voted Worst Celebrity Influence
The people have spoken—and what they have said is that Miley Cyrus makes for a lousy role model.
The Hannah Montana star has been voted Worst Celebrity Influence of 2009 in a new online poll conducted by AOL’s JSYK.com (Just So You Know), beating out such celebs as Britney Spears and speech-stopping rapper Kanye West.
Cyrus garnered 42 percent of the votes in the poll. And given that the Web site is aimed at 9-to-15-year-olds, it seems that a good portion of her target audience does not approve of her shenanigans.
No specific reasons were given for the dubious honor, but in a year during which she was accused of racism and roundly criticized for pole dancing at the Teen Choice Awards, it’s not hard to guess.
The good news for Miley is that, with some serious competition coming up fast, she’ll probably be knocked out of the top spot next year.

that’s horrible. miley cyrus is 17 years old. oviously she’s going to mistakes, but hopefully she’ll catch those mistakes and don’t repeat them. i don’t think she deserves this. she still has hannah montana for the kids, so why are they calling her a bad role model? She still does the show, she still writes music for Hannah and she keeps her head held high through the toughest situations. She’s 17! stop insulting her about every move she makes. She wasn’t pole dancing, either. So she dates boys much older than her, and she takes pictures, but thats what a 17 year old girl is going to do, but she still loves her fans, and sometimes she just wants to be normal. Let her be human, and live her life, maybe she’ll see her mistakes.
That is the cost of fame. If she is loved, hated, or otherwise, it is business, nothing personal. People hate her, somebody makes money. People love her, somebody makes money. So she lives in a fishbowl, and people know the last time she passed gas. It is the cost of fame. She has to make money to fulfill a contract. The more attention she gets, the happier the bosses are. It is not bad per se, but economics. We are simply the consumers paying the bill.

Her parents should step up and recognize how they have failed their daughter. Kids under 18 are still minors, and they still need the guidance and support of their parents. And that means parents have to stand up for certain standards even when doing so makes them REALLY unpopular with their child. Does Miley deserve this dubious recognition? No way, poor kid. But maybe this is a good time for her parents (or her publicist, for heaven’s sake, since this is really going to cause a problem for her “image”) to step forward and take a stand for her.

She is a terrible role model- she have 9 year olds listening to her music and NOW she decides to shift gears to appeal to an older crowd??? It is a bad business move on her part. The posing half naked and the stipper pole dancing was the icing on the cake. She is teaching young girls that in order to be popular and famous- that you have to sell yourself as a sex object.

I think She has sone very well for herself. She has to grow up sometime. She still plays hanna Monana on TV, and tours as Miley cyrus. I saw her in concert. just recently. I think she puts on an excelllant show. She is cute, and I think has worked very hard to get to where she is. She xannot stay little forever. If people think she is bad for there kids then don’t let your kids watch her. She is not a bad person at all. She has made more money than anyone I know, and by doing what she loves doing, which is singing. People need to quit being so negative. That is why her concert was Miley Cyrus. Okay, everyone keeps saying that she is young and makes mistakes. The thing is, she is well aware of everything she is doing which makes it not accidental and just makes the “mistakes” 10x worse. Personally, I DON’T like Miley and agree comepletely with this “award”. She is a horrible role model and she should know better than to wear really tight (and short) clothing and take racy pictures. She needs to realize that most of her audience is only 5-12 years old. I’m tired of seeing all of the comments that say “She’s only 17 years old, all 17 year olds do this” because that’s bullsh*t. Not ALL 17 year olds do this! Hell, my cousins and most of my friends are 17 years old and they don’t do sh*t like this! And I know that there are A LOT of girls who do this but one’s age is no excuse; it’s still wrong.

I totally agree with the poll, her parents needs to be more responsible in taking care of their 16 or 17 year old daughter who is dating guys way too old for her and then saying she is a role model for young girls.
