Morning Buzz: David Letterman Bashes John McCain

TMZ reports that David Letterman spent part of his show last night railing against presidential candidate John McCain. McCain, scheduled for an appearance on Letterman last night, cancelled at the last minute to supposedly “race to the airport” to attend to America’s economic crisis. Letterman showed a live feed of McCain actually prepping for an interview with Katie Couric. “Need a ride to the airport?,” Letterman asked sarcastically.

E! reports that David Blaine, supposedly hanging 50 ft. in the air for 60 hours above Central Park’s ice rink, survived a 40 ft. jump yesterday for his ABC television special. A vascular surgeon on the scene said that he could have possibly suffered “breathing trouble, blindness, a stroke and a host of other organ difficulties” from hanging inverted for so long.

EW.com reports that Ghost Town and Extras star Ricky Gervais is allegedly in the running to host next year’s Oscars ceremony. Gervais earned buzz for his appearance on the Sept 21 Emmys, where he jokingly scolded Steve Carrell for stealing his award.

Aerosmith lead singer Steven Tyler is suing some bloggers for impersonating him and his girlfriend on the Internet, according to TMZ. In the lawsuit filed in Los Angeles superior court, Tyler claims that bloggers posted “pictures … intimate details about [his] private life, including [Tyler's] relationship with his girlfriend, his children and his mother.”

Us reports that former Hootie and the Blowfish lead singer Darius Rucker‘s country debut, Learn To Live, has knocked Jessica Simpson out of the top spot on the Billboard country chart. It sold 60,414 units during its first week of release.
