The nominations for the MTV Movie Awards were announced today. The awards traditionally take a less than Oscar approach in selecting their nominees, by allowing fans to vote on the winners. Categories like Best Kiss, Best Fight and Best Villain are mainstays.

And eventually someone will figure out what that trophy is. Is that popcorn? No one knows.

Juno, Superbad and Transformers are among the selected films this year. Superbad, the tale of high school geeks trying to get laid, chalked up five nods: Best Movie, Best Comedic Performance and three for Best Newcomer. Juno and Transformers are also up for Best Movie, along with I Am Legend, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End and National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets (???).

Who picked that last one, Nicolas Cage? Captive airplane passengers forced to watch it? The show will be broadcast live on Sun., June 1, from the Gibson Amphitheater in Universal City, California. The always thoroughly hammy Mike Myers will be hosting, he has a questionable new movie to shill (The Love Guru, in case you hadn't heard)!
