1. Breaking Dawn: Part 2’s Amadou Ly Talks Twilght’s Epic Finale

2. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Gets a Director

Lionsgate announced Thursday, via press release, that Hunger Games: Catching Fire helmer Francis Lawrence will also direct Mockingjay: Parts 1 and 2.

The I Am Legend director will wrap Catching Fire and directly move on to the first half of the Mockingjay finale. That’s some serious Herculean-endurance there.

Catching Fire, which stars Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss, arrives in theatres November 22, 2013. Mockingkay: Part 1 is due out on November 21, 2014, with Part 2 set for release on November 20, 2015.

3. Jamie Foxx In Talks to Play Villain in Amazing Spider-Man 2

Spider-Man fans were surprised Thursday to learn that Jamie Foxx is circling a role in director Marc Webb’s sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man.

Variety broke the news on Thursday, confirming that the Oscar-winner is in talks to play the villain Electro, a character that can control and wield electricity.

Should Foxx lock down the part, he’ll join returning stars Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone in the sequel, which hits theatres May 4, 2014.

4. Michael Fassbender To Star in Genius

Prometheus’ Michael Fassbender will star opposite Colin Firth in Genius.

A press release on Thursday confirmed the casting. Genius is based on A. Scott Berg’s biography Max Perkins: Editor of Genius, and tells the story of the relationship between Thomas Wolfe (Fassbender) and his longtime editor, Max Perkins (Firth).

Michael Grandage will direct from a script by Skyfall’s John Logan. Production is scheduled for a 2014 start.

5. G.I. Joe: Retalliation Debuts New Trailer

Ever since Paramount moved G.I. Joe: Retaliation from Summer 2012 to March 29, 2013, things have been quiet on the sequel. But not anymore.

On Thursday, Paramount revealed a new international trailer for the sequel on YouTube. With 100% more Channing Tatum and explosion-y goodness. Click here to watch the trailer.

With it’s eerie score, cryptic lines and great cast, Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy already has us on the edge of our seats, and all we’ve seen is the trailer!

Cameron Diaz was spotted giving the Brits a taste of American country girl charm when she was photographed filming her new film, Gambit, in a semi-ridiculous cowgirl outfit in London earlier this week.

Joined by a dapper-looking Colin Firth (can he ever not look dapper?), Cameron strutted her stuff around London’s Heathrow airport in teeny-tiny denim shorts, a black and silver skull tank top and a beige suede trench coat.

So, what’s with Cameron’s weird get-up?

Gambit is a remake of the 1966 classic film of the same name which followed a showgirl and a cat burglar as they attempt to rip-off the world’s richest man. Naturally, hi-jinks ensued and Diaz’s cowgirl outfit is on par with the ridiculous outfits of the original comedy.

Many celebrities may say they’ve gone green, but time and time again the paparazzi catch them out and about in gas guzzling luxury vehicles. Now celebs can have their luxury and be eco-friendly as well, with the new swanky S400 Mercedes-Benz Zero Emission B-Class Hydrogen Electric Fuel Cell. That’s one hot ride!

This new of sedan has all of Hollywood revved. In fact, this vehicle was a staple during this year’s bust award season, chauffeuring countless celebs around town.James Franco, Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Wahlberg, Hayden Panettiere and Natalie Portman, to name a few, all hit up events in true green style.

Natalie for one is a fan.  “It’s good that there are now vehicles with alternative fuel options,” she said, “from clean diesel, hybrid and even hydrogen, that are becoming widely available,” stated the Oscar-winning actress.

The S400 is essentially an electric car, fueled by compressed hydrogen. It boasts 86.6 city-highway miles per gallon, and has a range of up to 240 miles. In LA traffic, that’s a huge plus. This lavish vehicle can even be re-fueled in as few as three minutes and produces water as its only emission. But don’t think you can run out and snag one just jet, unfortunately there are only 70 S400s currently available in California.

Will The Oscars Mirror The Globes This Year?:

I think you’ll definitely see some redundancy between the Globes and the Oscars, particularly in Picture and the acting categories. The toughest one to call is Best Supporting Actress. Mo’Nique breezed through this category last year, but Melissa Leo, Jacki Weaver and possibly Amy Adams will battle for the Globe. And it’s hard to argue that a win here wouldn’t provide an invaluable profile boost for one of those women when it comes to the Oscars.

While You’ll Be Tuning Into The Globes Come Sunday:

For me, there are only two reasons to watch the Globes: Jacki Weaver’s upset victory as Best Supporting Actress, and the inevitable Ricky Gervais takedown of Mel Gibson. It will be the squirmiest, cringiest awards ceremony since David Letterman went all “Oprah-Uma” at the Oscars. I can’t wait!

Who Will Give The Most Emotional or Funniest Speech?

If Eric Stonestreet wins, his speech will be the most emotional and probably the funniest. Portman, Firth and especially Bening and Bale should be on red alert – their speeches (if they win) need to be heartwarming and interesting (read: not a boring laundry list of names), or they will hurt their Oscar chances. A great speech will propel them forward in the race to theKodak in February.

Will The Oscars Mirror The Globes This Year?

It probably will to some extent, as many of the categories already appear to be decided, even before Oscar nominations have been announced! I mean, is there any possibility at all that Colin Firth won’t win Best Actor at the Oscars? If he wins the Globe, it will only further cement his frontrunner status. Same goes for the supporting actor and actress choices – these are competitive categories – the winners here should be popping the champagne corks because a win at the Globes gives them a much-needed leg-up in the next couple of weeks.

Problems with the Comedy/Musical Category:

The Kids Are Alright will win [Best Film- Comedy] by default. Maybe it was just a down year. There were no Judd Apatow comedy that can get laughs and tug at the heart at the same time. I don’t see how The Tourist is a comedy or musical. Burlesque was not supposed to be very good. Alice in Wonderland was a total mess. Everyone thinks Johnny Depp will win for Best Actor- Comedy but that would be so easy.

Will Oscars Mirror The Globes This Year?

I think so. If Annette wins [Best Actress- Comedy] that will cement her a nomination at the Oscars and she’ll probably bump out Halle Berry. The Golden Globes is more about beating the Oscars to the punch, they want to anoint those winners before the Academy does.

Rupert Everett has some harsh words for Jennifer Aniston and her continued success in Hollywood.

The rom-com actor recently insinuated in a BBC radio interview (via UsMagazine.com) that Jen, 41, doesn’t really deserve the success that she has found as a Hollywood A-lister.

“If you look and analyze the careers of many, many stars, you’ll find that they’re mostly sustained by the business,” Everett told BBC. “You’ll find there’s lots of women and lots of men in the business that the powers that be decide are right for their business, and they’ll stand with them for quite a long time.”

“Jennifer Aniston will have one too many total flops, but she’s still a member of that club,” the 51-year-old actor continued. “And she will still manage to…like a star forming in the universe, things will swirl around her and it will suddenly solidify into another vital tasteless rom-com, a little glitter next to the Crab Nebula.”

In recent years, Jennifer’s films have done pretty poorly at the box office but she still manages to sign on to high-profile projects. Jennifer’s most recent film, The Switch, made only $27 million in the US while its production budget was $19 million.

Jen wasn’t the only star to get criticized by Rupert – Golden Globe nominee Colin Firth was taken to task for some career slip-ups.

“Colin Firth I don’t think was at all good in Mamma Mia! I would have thought it was almost a careericide,” Everett said. “On the other hand, I think his performance in A Single Man was the best performance of his life.”
