Each year the Met Gala brings us the best and, more entertainingly, the worst in celebrity haute couture. This year’s punk theme promised some major misses and, oh boy, did our favorite famous people ever deliver.

There were quite a few runners-up. Cameron Diaz‘s odd cape and Vera Wang‘s self-censored nightmare nearly made the list. But alas, they were topped by these ten truly terrible ensembles.

The stars have been keeping busy in the last 24 hours.

Hilary Duff got up bright and early for an appearance on Good Day New York. The 25-year-old actress and mother-of-one has been in the Big Apple all week to discuss her work with Johnson’s Baby Cares.

Speaking of moms, Pink was spotted in Berlin, Germany, where she went on a bike ride with her daughter Willow. The mother-daughter-duo looked extra cool thanks to Pink’s shades and Willow’s stylish helmet. The singer is scheduled to play at the O2 World Arena on Friday, followed by a show in Hannover on Saturday.

In other star sightings, Elizabeth Banks visited a beauty salon in Beverly Hills, Emma Stone and boyfriend Andrew Garfield celebrated the opening night of Bull at Britsoff Broadway and Alexander Skarsgard suited up for a screening of his new film What Maisie Knew in New York City.

Yep, the wait is finally over.

For many fans it was the the highlight of the 2013 MTV Movie Awards — the teaser trailer for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

Introduced by its heartthrob star Liam Hemsworth, the highly anticipated sequel looks like it’s going to be another action-packed blockbuster.

So here’s what diehard fans can look forward to next.

The sophomore installment follows District 12 victors Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) as they go on a tour of Panem after they survived the death match.

During the opening moments of the trailer Katniss and Peeta are taken on stage by mentor Effie Trinket (Elizabeth Banks) during a stop in District 11 — but a riot ensues.

The scene cuts to President Snow (Donald Sutherland) talking with new Gamemaker Plutarch Heavensbee (Philip Seymour Hoffman).

Ominously, Snow says of Katniss: “She’s not who she thinks she is.” Heavensbee adds: “I agree she should die.”

At home in District 12 Gale (Hemsworth) warns Katniss: “People are looking to you, Katniss. You’ve given them an opportunity, they just have to be brave enough to take it.”

Gale tries to show how loyal he is as he faces a whipping for selling an illegal game, but Katniss steps in and shows no fear as a peacekeeper pulls a gun on her.

“Go ahead,” she says without batting an eyelid.

As the clip draws to a close, we return to President Snow’s residence for a chilling warning: “Her entire species must be eradicated,” he tells Hevansbee.

“Her species, sir?” Heavensbee responds.

“The other victors,” Snow explains. “Because of her, they all pose a threat. Because of her they all think they are invincible.”

The cast of Catching Fire is looking picture perfect.

With the release of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire just months away, the games have begun (again) as fans were treated to a number of promo stills this week — featuring the YA franchise‘s beloved characters posing for the Capitol Couture portrait series.

In the latest installment, Panem’s heroine Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) goes glam in another extravagant gown, this time donning a gorgeous tiered dress complete with ruffles, a metallic embellishment (possibly in the shape of a mockingjay) and a white rose.

As for the other citizens of Panem,  Cinna (Lenny Kravitz) and Caesar Flickerman (Stanley Tucci) do their best to represent the dystopian nation’s capitol city in their distinguished photos.

In an equally eye-catching ensemble, Effie Trinket (Elizabeth Banks) sits pretty and pink, while Haymitch Abernathy (Woody Harrelson) cleans up well for his shot.

One more photo awaits the THG fanbase — our guesses it’s Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson).

The portrait sessions leave many wondering its exact significance to the second film, which theaters on Nov. 22.

And until recently, it seemed the Disney Channel diva was living out that fairy tale romance with boyfriend and pop sensation Justin Bieber. The duo reigned supreme as king and queen of the teenybopper world, until things took a turn for the worse.

After about two years of dating, reports surfaced in November that Selena & Justin were on the outs. Amidst break-up rumors, the couple met up to rekindle their romance, but at the end of the day, they just couldn’t make it work. In a recent interview, Transcendence producer Andrew Kosove revealed that the story “involves a scientist (Depp) whose brain gets uploaded into a supercomputer with the aim of creating the world’s first machine that can think for itself.” Nanotechnology and artificial intelligence is also involved. Kosove also provided an update on the film’s casting: Noomi Rapace (Prometheus) is no longer in the running for the film’s lead female role, and Ewan McGregor passed on an early draft of the script. Fans of Community’s Gillian Jacobs are about to get their fix of the TV star on the big screen. The actress has signed on to join The Hunger Games’ Elizabeth Banks in the comedy Walk of Shame. The film, written and directed by Steve Brill, centers on a local news anchor (Banks) who, after a drunk one-night stand, wakes up broke and without her I.D. Zero Dark Thirty’s Joel Edgerton is trading in assault rifles for six shooters for a role opposite Natalie Portman in the Western Jane Got a Gun. The film centers on Jane (Portman), a wife who must defend her homestead when her bad guy of a husband (Edgerton) goes on the run from his former gang of outlaws. Jane also stars Michael Fassbender as a gunslinger Jane hires to help her out. Production is set to start in February. [Deadline]

The 19th Annual SAG Awards will air live from the Los Angeles Shrine Exposition Center on TNT and TBS on Sunday, Jan. 27 at 8 PM ET.

The stars have been hard at work in the last 24 hours, attending red carpet affairs, running errands with their families and of course, going to work.

Fergie donned a sparkly red number to on Thursday night, as she hosted Voli Light’s Holiday party at the Mondrian in Los Angeles.

The 37-year-old singer finished off her look with shoes from her own line, Fergie Footwear.

On Friday, Courteney Cox was spotted hard at work on the set of her hit series, Cougar Town. The show, now in its fourth season, will premiere on Jan. 8 on a new network, TBS. (ABC aired Cougar Town’s first three seasons).

Meanwhile, Elizabeth Banks was spotted running errands in West Hollywood. The blonde beauty is currently in the pre-production stages of the next Hunger Games film installment.

Earlier this week, Banks’ co-star Josh Hutcherson showed off his beach body on the Hawaii set of Catching Fire. The film hits theaters next November.

Sunday’s episode of Oprah’s Next Chapter will delve into the world of ABC’s Scandal with star Kerry Washington, creator Shonda Rhimes and inspiration behind the show, Judy Smith. Washington will discuss her lead role as Olivia Pope on the drama as well as her highly anticipated film, Django Unchained. Kramer is headed back to TV. Michael Richards, who played the iconic character on Seinfeld has been cast on TV Land’s comedy pilot, Giant Baby, co-starring Kirstie Alley and Rhea Perlman. The show, created by Marco Pennette, will focus on Alley as Broadway star Madison Banks who reconnects with her long-lost son. Richards will play Madison’s limo driver while Perlman will play her assistant and best friend. [THR]

Nickelodeon’s It’s a SpongeBob Christmas! is premiering on the network this Thursday. The first full-length stop motion animated special features the voice of John Goodman as Santa Claus. It will also feature the popular SpongeBob song, “Don’t Be a Jerk (It’s Christmas)” which was released in 2009. An extras edition of the special will be available on iTunes with 30 minutes of exclusive behind-the-scenes footage. It’s a SpongeBob Christmas! airs Thursday at 8 PM. [Nickelodeon]

The next season of Bravo’s Kathy is headed your way in the New Year. The talk show in which Kathy Griffin chats with celebs about everything pop culture will debut on Jan. 10 at 10 PM. What do you get when put Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer together with a bunch of Victoria’s Secret models? A ratings win for CBS. This one-two punch of programs led the eye network to a win on Tuesday night despite ratings, which were down from last year. In total, CBS drew 10.2 million viewers. On NBC and The CW, there was some growth in viewers. [Zap2it]

Dr. Phil chocked up a major milestone this November, as his talk-show, Dr. Phil, topped the November sweeps ratings for syndicated talk shows. The show averaged 4.2 million viewers during the sweeps period from Oct. 25 to Nov. 21. Meanwhile, Katie Couric’s Katie took the top spot amongst the freshman talk shows, finishing fifth overall. Paranormal series, Weird Desk, has been given a straight-to-series order from ABC for Summer 2013. The series from Stargate’s Carl Binder and The Librarian’s David Titcher will run for 13 hour-long episodes. Weird Desk focuses on an organization involved in mysterious intelligence from the CIA and NSA regarding paranormal and supernatural experiences. [THR]

It’s a boy! Hunger Games star Elizabeth Banks is officially a mommy for the second time.

The actress announced on her website today that she welcomed a second son, Magnus Mitchell Handleman, via gestational surrogate.

“This experience has exceeded all expectations, taught us a great deal about generosity and gratitude,” Banks wrote, “and established a relationship that will last a lifetime.”

Banks welcomed her first son, Felix, in May of 2011 via surrogate as well. Banks shared how overjoyed she was with her first child after years and years of trying to get pregnant.

“The one true hurdle I’ve faced in life is that I have a broken belly,” Banks shared.

“After years of exploring the range of fertility treatments, all unsuccessful, our journal led us to gestational surrogacy.”

Banks is currently filming the second installment of The Hunger Games franchise, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, which is slated to air in 2013.

Rebel Wilson stars in the upcoming comedy Pitch Perfect, and the Australian native delivers another amazing comedic performance. However, it seems she gets into just as much hilarious trouble off screen, too!

Fresh off the success of Bridesmaids, Wilson revealed that she really is living with her onscreen roommate Matt Lucas in West Hollywood, and they haven’t exactly gotten a warm reception from their neighbors.

“Yeah, okay we had some eggs thrown for some kind of retaliation,” Wilson laughed.

Rebel recently appeared on Conan O’Brien where she showed a letter from an “anonymous” neighbor who threatened to call the cops on her and Matt if they didn’t stop singing show tunes after 10 p.m.

Hasn’t he or she seen the previews for Pitch Perfect? Rebel’s just keeping those vocal chords strong!

“We are assuming it’s the same person who wrote us the letter,” Rebel said. “I would just like to call a truce, seriously. Lets all just love each other.”

Rebel Wilson stars in a capella comedy (that is a hit with the critics) which opens nationwide this Friday. Elizabeth Banks is a producer on the film and wanted Wilson to play “Fat Amy” from day one.

“Put me in Hunger Games then if you think I’m good,” Wilson joked. “Seriously, what’s up Banks?”

Elizabeth Banks has a bone to pick with Nikki Finke after the Deadline editor-in-chief complained about Modern Family star Julie Bowen’s win for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series at this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards.

“Beautiful actresses are not funny. They don’t know how to do comedy,” Finke wrote on Sunday night, adding that Bowen “isn’t a comedienne just like Brooke Shields wasn’t and a zillion more.”

The following day, Banks, 38, posted a rebuttal, titled “Ugly or Pretty Has Nothing to do With Funny,” on her own website.

“Wouldn’t it be great if older, more experienced women like Ms. Finke were kinder to her fellow females in the entertainment business?” Banks wrote.

“She might do more for our cause — better, more fully realized roles in all types of entertainment, which is the territory all these amazing Emmy-nominated actresses are striving for.”

What other words did the Pitch Perfect star have for Finke?

“I agree ‘humiliation’ can be funny,” Banks continued in her rebuttal this week, “but it is not a state of being reserved solely for the ugly, whatever that means to Nikki Finke.”

Banks gave a shout out out 30 Rock actress Kay Cannon and called her “a gorgeous woman with a wicked sense of humor. Cannon is also the brains behind the Pitch Perfect script.

In her Emmys rant on Sunday, Finke also referred to a 30 Rock star: Tina Fey.

Finke wrote, “Only women who grew up ugly and stayed ugly, or through plastic surgery became beautiful, can pull off sitcoms or standups,” using Fey as a prime example.

“[Fey] always points out she looked like a troglodyte when she was younger,” according to Finke.

Hunger Games star Elizabeth Banks then responded to Finke on her own blog, writing ugly or pretty has “nothing” to do with being funny.

At the premiere for Banks’ latest film Pitch Perfect in Hollywood Monday night, the cast and crew rallied behind Elizabeth in agreement:

“I think funny is sexy, so even if you’re not conventionally the most beautiful person if you’re really funny it ups your sexy points, honestly!” star Adam DeVine responded.

“Elizabeth Banks, not so tough on the eyes either and hilarious,” chimed in Skylar Astin. ”I think one of the most attractive things in a woman is someone who has a sense of humor.”

Continued Astin:

I think Nikki Finke is a really smart woman and I trust her opinion on a lot of things, but I wonder why she made that assumption, because I don’t really agree.”

“That’s fantastic Elizabeth!” writer Kay Cannon said, adding she would “absolutely disagree” with Finke, citing Tina Fey, Amy Poehler and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as examples.

“What is beautiful?” pondered Kat. “Lets talk about that for a second!”

Celebrities are flocking to Charlotte, N.C., in a bid of support for this week’s Democratic National Convention.

But President Barack Obama‘s typical big-name backers — such as George Clooney, Oprah Winfrey and Matt Damon — are notably absent this year. But many stars are still rallying behind their party, pushing for Obama to win four more years in the White House.

Of course, Eva Longoria, a co-chair of the president’s reeelction campaign, is among the celebrities making the rounds. Johnny Depp is a pretty animated actor as is, but for his most recently project, he’s literally going to be animated.

It was announced on Thursday that the Dark Shadows star was going to reprise his Edward Scissorhands role on Family Guy for the show’s 11th season, but it was also revealed that Hunger Games star Elizabeth Banks would be lending her voice in the season premiere.

Who exactly will Banks be voicing?

According to Entertainment Weekly, she’ll be “playing” the “snooty wife of Lois’ ex-boyfriend Ross Fishman, who attempts to scale Mt. Everest with her perfect family.”

“I play a really complicated character,” he told Celebuzz at the film’s NYC premiere on June 25 (see video above). “I think having coming from some bigger films, it was interesting for me to get involved in a project that was a lot smaller, a bit more character-driven.”

How intense is Pine’s role in the film?

He plays Sam, a man who’s dealing with both the death of his father and the shocking revelation that he has a half-sister he’s never met — Frankie, played by blonde beauty Elizabeth Banks.

Pine didn’t just talk about his red-hot movie career — he also reminisced about his childhood hangouts in Los Angeles, where he filmed scenes for People Like Us.

“I love Henry’s Tacos. I have been going there since I was a kid,” he said.

And what’s his favorite memory of the eatery? Joked the 31-year-old: “Well, their tacos.”
