Over the years, the Grammy Awards have shifted focus of its annual show.

While there will always be much ado about the handing out of the golden gramophones, much of the Grammys spotlight is now placed on the performances.

Take last year’s telecast for example: the three-and-a-half-hour ceremony featured a whopping 19 performances, while the show dropped the number of award categories to just 78, compared with the more than 100 of years past

And the 55th annual Grammy Awards are gearing up to be no different. Bruno Mars, Rihanna, Kelly Clarkson and Sting were all added to the bill of performers on Monday, joining already-announced Justin Timberlake, The Black Keys, fun., The Lumineers, Mumford & Sons, Frank Ocean, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Jack White, Elton John, Alicia Keys, Dierks Bentley, Miranda Lambert, Maroon 5 and Ed Sheeran.

But before millions tune into those artists on music’s biggest night this Sunday, Celebuzzis looking back at some of the best acts to grace the Grammys stage.

Janet Jackson (1987)
Though she didn’t take home the Album of the Year trophy for Control, Janet Jackson left her mark on the Grammy ceremony with her show-stopping performance. With the help of her Flyte Time crew and some Paula Abdul choreography, the singer stepped out of the shadow of her larger-than-life big brother, Michael Jackson, with this stirring rendition of “What Have You Done For Me Lately.”

Michael Jackson (1988)
Beginning with just a mic and his dancing shoes, the King of Pop wowed with a slowed-down version of “The Way You Make Me Feel,” before slipping into “Man in the Mirror,” with the aid of a full gospel choir accompanying him.

Whitney Houston (1994)
As one of the most successful female singers of all time, Whitney Houston needed no more than her vocal chords to bring down the house at the Grammy Awards with a booming rendition of “I Will Always Love You.” The Bodyguard soundtrack tune went on to snag Album Of The Year, Record Of The Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance at the ceremony. After this goosebumps-giving rendition, it’s easy to see why.

Eminem and Elton John (2001)
As critics slammed his The Marshall Mathers LP lyrics as homophobic, Eminem took the Grammy stage with out-and-proud musician Elton John, a longtime supporter of the rapper, for a duet of “Stan” that left people’s jaws agape.

Christina Aguilera, Pink, Lil Kim, Mya, Patti Labelle (2002)
After remaking the Labelle classic for the 2001 film Moulin Rouge!, Christina Aguilera, Pink, Lil Kim and Mya were joined on stage legendary singer Patti Labelle for an elaborate glitz-and-glam version of the No. 1 cover of the iconic disco song, “Lady Marmalade.”

U2 and Mary J. Blige (2006)
After U2 opened with “Vertigo,” Mary J. Blige stole to center stage, emotionally belting out her high notes on “One” alongside frontman Bono, offering for a moving performance of the remake that received a Grammy nod for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals.

Kanye West (2005)
Opening with a preacher delivering a sermon from a pulpit, Kanye West strode out onto a stage set up like a church, complete with rows of parishioners. As the rapper spit lines like, “My mama used to say only Jesus can save us,” the churchgoers bounced to the beat in their seats before rising to their feet for the chorus.

Beyonce and Tina Turner (2008)
After more than seven years away from the stage, Tina Turner teamed up with fellow soul diva Beyoncé for a powerful duet of her classic, “Proud Mary.” Introducing the icon to the stage, Bey praised Turner as a “legend” who embodies all “the glamour, the soul, the passion, the strength, the talent” of some of music’s most famed female performers.

Chris Martin and Jay-Z (2009)
Before Jay-Z and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin‘s musical collaborations turn into a full-blown bromance, the rapper joined the pop-rocker on music’s biggest stage for a stripped down version of “Lost.” After Martin began the song solo, plunking at a colorfully-painted piano, Jay-Z emerged from the darkness to drop his rap verse. It proved a moment of magical music fusion.

Alicia Keys and Jamie Foxx, (2005)
As she was riding high on “If I Ain’t Got You” and he was garnering praise for a now Oscar-winning performance in Ray, Alicia Keys and Jamie Foxx joined forces on the Grammys stage to pay tribute to rhythm and blues legend Ray Charles. “For an old friend,” Foxx said, fingering the keys of the piano as he and Keys slid into the harmonies of “Georgia,” back by a full orchestra.

Plastic surgery continues to be a tricky topic in Hollywood, with celebs often denying having any work done to enhance their image.

“It is embarrassing,” Griffin says. Still, she maintains, “I want women to know that this is what lipo looks like. Like, are you sure you don’t want to just work out a little more?”

But, despite her liposuction debacle, Griffin has no regrets.

“I work in an industry where if you don’t get a little nip and tuck, a lady of my age is going to end up playing Katie Holmes‘s great-grandmother in the Dawson’s Creek reunion. I’m never going to be Halle Berry, but I want to look as good as I can,” she told People in 2003.

From Disney Channel’s Mickey Mouse Club to his performances with ‘NSYNC to the hilarious “History of Rap” with Jimmy Fallon, we’ve seen him do some amazing things in his years on the small screen.

In honor of his wedding to Jessica Biel, we here at Celebuzz decided to take a look back at where he began and where he is now.

First up, The Mickey Mouse Club. Timberlake appeared on the show with fellow future stars Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Ryan Gosling and ‘NSYNC bandmate, JC Chasez. Take a look at the video of Timberlake, Gosling and Chasez singing Jodeci’s “Cry For You.”

Timberlake came back on the scene with this Disney Concert Special for ‘NSYNC in 1998. The band featured Timberlake, his MMC co-star Chasez, Chris Kirkpatrick, Lance Bass and Joey Fatone. This special essentially launched the boy band into superstardom. Note the platinum blond hair and the outfits.

His acting debut came a year later with the Disney Channel original movie Model Behavior. Timberlake played model Jason Sharpe on the TV flick and fell for a girl from Greenfield, Alex Burroughs, who he thought was fellow model Janine Adams (both played by Maggie Lawson). This is a MUST watch for JT fans and lucky for you the whole flick is on YouTube.

We are selfishly adding this one in as it’s one of the best performances of this song ever. “This I Promise You” was on ‘NSYNC’s 2000 album release No Strings Attached.

The 2001 Superbowl saw Timberlake and his fellow ‘NSYNC bandmates take the stage at halftime for the most epic halftime show ever along with Spears, Aerosmith, Mary J. Blige and Nelly. The pre video also included cameos from Ben Stiller and Chris Rock.

Timberlake was the victim of probably the funniest Punk’d episode in 2002. When Dax Shepard told him that he owed more than $900,000 thousand dollars in taxes and that his house, belongings and dogs, would be seized by the government, he was visually upset to almost the point of tears. Ashton Kutcher was the mastermind for this prank.

JT made his solo music debut at the 2002 MTV Video Music Awards with a killer performance of “Like I Love You.” Featuring the singer emerging from a giant boombox, he proved that he was a star to be reckoned with.

Timberlake returned to the Super Bowl in 2004 for a scandalous performance with Janet Jackson at Super Bowl XXXVIII in Houston. Their rendition of “Rock My Body” ended with Timberlake exposing one of Jackson’s breasts. It caused in uproar with the FCC and resulted in a huge fine for CBS.

Timberlake has showed his comedic chops every time he has appeared on NBC’s Saturday Night Live. The versatile star has hosted the live show four times with his first stint in 2003. While most would put any one of his digital shorts, “D**k In A Box,” “MotherLover” or his stint at Beyonce in “Single Ladies, at the top of their list, we’ve decided to put this small clip of him “bringing it down to Liquorville.” This skit was originated in 2003 with his original, “bringing it down to Omeletteville.”

Fallon and Timberlake have become pretty good friends throughout the singer/actor’s appearances on SNL. When he appeared on the comedian’s talk show, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, they started the franchise “History of Rap.” Watch the two men successfully spin more then 50 songs into their awesome collaboration.

Janet Jackson has fired off a legal letter to Vanity Fair Editor in Chief Graydon Carter, demanding the publication retract allegations suggesting the music superstar delayed her late brother Michael’s funeral over a financial dispute.

In excerpts from Randall Sullivan‘s upcoming book, Untouchable: The Strange Life and Tragic Death of Michael Jackson — and published in the esteemed Condé Nast magazine — it was alleged that Janet, 46, had delayed her sibling’s funeral over money owed relating to the burial plot deposit.

“The article states that, according to Untouchable, Ms Jackson put down a $40,000 deposit to secure a burial plot for Michael Jackson but refused to let the funeral take place until that money was repaid. This is untrue,” Janet’s attorney Blair G. Brown wrote in the letter sent on October 5 and obtained by Celebuzz.

“Ms. Jackson never delayed the funeral in anyway. In fact, she paid for the funeral and was reimbursed for some of those expenses by Michael Jackson’s estate in the year after the services took place.”

Jackson, via her lawyer, added: “In addition, there were other private costs associated with Michael Jackson’s passing that Ms. Jackson incurred and for which she has never sought reimbursement. To falsely accuse Ms. Jackson of holding up her brother’s funeral over money is outrageous. This story is particularly hurtful and distressing because of Ms. Jackson’s strong desire to serve her brother, whom she loved dearly, and he wish to stand with and support her family.

Brown said the damage to Jackson’s reputation was “exacerbated” because the article was republished by numerous media outlets around the world.

“I demand that Vanity Fair retract its statement that Ms. Jackson “refused” to let Michael Jackson’s funeral take place until the money she put down as a deposition on his burial plot was repaid,” the lawyer said.

“To the extend that this statement appears in excerpts of Untouchable published in Vanity Fair’s November 2012 issue, I demand that Vanity Fair publish a retraction explaining that the statement is false.”

Brown also claimed: “The article is replete with additional false and defamatory statement regarding Ms. Jackson.”

The King of Pop died on 25 June, 2009 after suffering a cardiac arrest brought on by an overdose of anesthetic Propofol. He was buried in a private funeral place in early September, 2009.

Mariah Carey was honored with the Icon Award at BMI’s Urban Awards this week – and celebrated with a friend named Hennessy.

Janet Jackson, meanwhile, shook off the Jackson family drama and self-soothed with a little comfort-food candy. And no, we can’t blame her.

Whether it’s New York Fashion Week, the kick-off of the school year, or fall television premieres, celebrities are welcoming what the new season has in store for them.

Various members of Michael Jackson’s family, including sister Janet, have reportedly been banned from the home of Katherine Jackson amid ongoing drama over the late King of Pop’s estate.

The barring was proposed by Howard Weitzman, the lawyer representing estate executors John Blanca and John McClain, in an email obtained exclusively by blogger Roland S. Martin on Sunday.

In it, Weitzman specifically targets siblings Randy, Janet, Rebbie and Jermaine Jackson, suggesting that they and their respective families be banned from Katherine’s home in Calabasas, Calif.

Weitzman wrote:  “Given the circumstances of the last two weeks, and in order to protect the children and Mrs. Jackson, the Executors believe that it would not be appropriate to allow the following individuals to enter the residence or its grounds, and we instruct the security to preclude the following from entering the residence or the grounds: Randy Jackson and any of his children, Janet Jackson, Rebbie Jackson and any of her children, Jermaine Jackson, his wife and any of his children.”

The letter also asks that “anyone else who was involved in the recent events that led to Mrs. Jackson’s separation from and inability to communicate with Michael’s children, or any agents or representatives of any of these individuals” be barred from the state.

In addition, “There will be no other security or drivers allowed on the property except those employed by the Estate of Michael Jackson. Joe Jackson is precluded from entering the property.”

The email does not mention La Toya Jackson, who has publicly asked her family to stop their battles.

It’s just the latest chapter in a seemingly never-ending story that involves key players in the Jackson family.

It all dates back to July 17, when Celebuzz exclusively obtained a letter calling for Blanca and McClain’s immediate resignation.

The letter — which was signed by Michael’s sisters Janet, Rebbie and brothers Tito, Randy and Jermaine Jackson — accused Blanca and McClain of faking Michael’s final will prior to his death on June 25, 2009.

The letter also alleged that Katherine, 82, had suffered a “mini-stroke” as a result of the drama.

Days later, Katherine fled to Arizona, where she was said to have stayed at the home of her daughter, Rebbie.

She returned to California about 10 days later, just as her nephew, TJ, was granted temporary guardianship of Michael’s three children, Prince Michael, 15, Paris, 14, and Blanket, 10.

Katherine’s guardianship was subsequently revoked.

Although Katherine said she was “devastated” by the court’s ruling, she and TJ are expected to file a request for joint guardianship this week, according to reports.

That’s not all: during Katherine’s disappearance, Janet, Randy and Jermaine stormed the property of Katherine’s home, all in an attempt to speak to Michael’s children. It was then that Janet and Paris got into a heated — and reportedly violent — exchange over tweets that Paris had written about her grandmother. (Read the full story here.)

Paris Jackson changed her tone from angry to apologetic on Twitter late Tuesday evening as the drama over her father Michael Jackson‘s estate continued to escalate.

“A lot of ppl [sic] have been saying that i ‘changed,’” the 14-year-old wrote. “I wanna apologize for the attitude.”

“There’s just a lot going on… i promise: the ego = gone(:” she added.

The shift in tone came just hours after Paris reportedly got involved in a heated exchange with her aunt, Janet, over tweets that Paris had posted about the whereabouts of her grandmother and guardian, Katherine Jackson, 82.

“9 days and counting… so help me god i will make whoever did this pay,” a distressed Paris tweeted Tuesday.

“something is really off , this isn’t like her at all .. i wanna talk directly to my grandmother!!<|3″ she added, in a previous tweet.

Upset that Paris had been using her cell phone to tweet about Katherine — who left her home in Calabasas, Calif., last Saturday, to stay with her daughter, Rebbie, in Arizona — Janet allegedly tried to slap Paris’ cell phone out of her hand, calling her a “spoiled little b*tch” in the process.

Paris, equally upset, reportedly responded by saying, “This is our house. Not the Jackson family house. Get the f**k out.”

The incident took place Monday afternoon, when Janet and brothers Randy and Jermaine attempted to storm the property of Katherine’s home.

A violent exchange between Randy, Jermaine and Katherine’s nephew, Trent, also took place inside the mansion, according to TMZ.

In an interview Tuesday on Rev. Al Sharpton’s PoliticsNation, Randy defended his family’s actions, claiming they went to the home to inform Michael’s three children — Paris, Prince Michael, 15, and Blanket, 10 — that Katherine was under “doctor’s orders” to be “isolated” from the stress of daily life.

“My mother is doing great — she’s relaxing, she’s having fun, she’s with my sister Rebbie, her granddaughter Stacy and her great granddaughter London,” he told Sharpton.

Janet was also scheduled to take part in the interview, but backed out at the last minute.

The Jackson family has been at the center of a media firestorm for weeks after Celebuzz exclusively obtained a letter signed by Janet, Rebbie, Tito, Randy and Jermaine Jackson asking for the immediate resignation of John Branca and John McClain, the executors of the Michal Jackson estate.

In it, they claimed that Branca and McClain faked Michael’s final will prior to his death on June 25, 2009.

“At the time, we couldn’t possibly fathom what is so obvious to us now: that the Will, without question, it’s Fake, Flawed and Fraudulent,” it wrote.

The letter also claimed that Katherine had suffered a “mini-stroke” as a result of all of the stress.

The battle between the late Michael Jackson’s siblings and the executors of the King of Pop’s estate has reached fever pitch, as opposite sides of the family took their growing battle to primetime television on Tuesday, July 24.

Randy Jackson spoke out about the feud that got himself, his brother Jermaine and sister Janet, almost arrested at his mother Katherine’s Calabasas, Calif. home on July 23.

Appearing on Rev. Al Sharpton’s PoliticsNation MSNBC, Randy defended his visit to his mother’s home to see Prince Michael, 15, Paris, 14, and Blanket, 10.

His sister Janet was also scheduled to appear on the show but pulled out at the last minute to head to Arizona to be with their mother.

Randy claimed he was trying to reach the children to let them know that it was “doctors orders” for their grandmother to be “isolated” from the stress of daily life.

“Her health was ailing,” he told Sharpton, explaining why the 82-year-old had been whisked away to Arizona.

“My mother is doing great she’s relaxing, she’s having fun, she’s with my sister Rebbie, her granddaughter Stacy and her great grand daughter London.”

Randy admitted he went to his mother’s home on Monday July 23, along with sister Janet and brother Jermaine.

“When we got to the home we were denied access to our own home by security and (Katherine’s nephew) Trent,” Randy said.

“We wanted to ask them (if they wanted to see their grandmother in Arizona) and let them know they can see and talk to their grandmother but we were denied access.”

Randy did not address the alleged assault that occurred between two, so far, unidentified family members, or why his mother’s security guards called the police.

“This is all an effort to deflect attention away from the letter written by us to the executors (of Michael’s estate),” Randy told the Reverend.

The letter — which Celebuzz exclusively obtained — is signed by Michael’s sisters Janet and Rebbie, and brothers Tito, Randy and Jermaine, and accuses the executors of Michael’s estate, John Branca and John McClain, of faking Michael’s final Will before his death on June 25, 2009.

The siblings’ main claim is that on the date Michael signed the Will — July 2, 2002 — it says he was in Los Angeles, but instead he was on the other side of the country — with iconic civil rights crusader, Sharpton.

And amazingly, the Reverend revealed on his PoliticsNation, that he has video proof Michael was with him for three days in Harlem, New York.

“That Monday he was with Johnnie Cochran and I,” Sharpton said.

“What it proves is the Will is a fake,” Randy said.

Randy said this, because the executors now know that they are facing serious questions about the Will.

They have become “vicious,” using Michael’s children to try to make the siblings look money hungry.

“The executors of the estate, John Branca and John McClain, are using the children to try and put pressure on my Mom to try to get her to come out and say things in their favor.

“This is not about money for us, as a family this isn’t about being left out of the Will or a feud over the children, this is about a family that has questions,” Randy said.

The gap between the Jackson siblings however, continues to widen — with his other brothers Marlon and Jackie appearing on HLN’s The Insider just before their brother spoke to Sharpton.

Also joining them was brother Tito, who was one of the signatories on the letter demanding the resignation of the executors of the estate; however, Tito now seems to have backed out of the plot.

When The Insider‘s Kevin Frazier asked the brothers if they would accept explanation given by authorities that their mother is safe and well — despite being reported missing — Marlon became emotional and declared it is not adequate.

“That’s not good enough for me,” he said.

Marlon said he was being blocked from seeing his 82-year-old mother.

“All I know is there’s somebody who made the decision that my mother cannot talk to me, and whoever that person is, they’ve got to answer to me.”

“Because I’m going to see my mother and I’m going to bring her home.”

Marlon then became so upset that he walked out on the interview stating: “I’m going to get to the bottom of this, I am.”

None of the family members who spoke out yesterday have yet to confirm reports that executors are seeking new guardianship of Michael’s three children.

“We are acutely concerned about the welfare of Mrs. Jackson, and most particularly with Michael’s minor children,” the exactors said in a statement Tuesday morning.

“We do what we can to protect them from undue influences, bullying, greed, and other unfortunate circumstances.

“While we do not have standing to directly intervene, we have monitored the situation and will continue to do so.”

With today’s skimpy styles, no woman is safe from an embarrassing moment.

As she took the stage, Big Love star Chloe Sevigny‘s dress got stepped on. “Whoops! … I can’t believe he stepped on my dress!” she said during her speech.

The voluptuous reality star Coco also had a wardrobe malfunction when she hit the runway for the Richie Rich fashion show this past year. “The fabric was so slippery. I knew there was going to be a malfunction!” she told Celebuzz in September, shrugging her shoulders. “Oh well. That’s life. What are you going to do?”

We’re a little disappointed Janet Jackson isn’t going to be beaming into our living rooms each week on The X Factor. After she skirted the issue with Anderson Cooper, it turns out she was one of the names being thrown around. 

She tells TheInsider.com that she’s “very flattered that X Factor let me know that I was being considered for next season, but it just wouldn’t be possible.”

Boo! Hiss! This seemed like a perfect fit…and we’d like to see Janet back on TV. Good times! 

Speculation about her joining the show was apparently premature. Janet’s team added, “There have been absolutely no meetings between Janet and anyone with regard to X Factor.” So, the deal wasn’t even close to happening.  

With  Paula Adbul and Nicole Scherzinger becoming X Factor exes after the debut season, it is anyone’s guess who will fill their seats — although Simon Cowell has said it will be two ladies (to balance himself and the other male judge).

After parting ways with two of the female judges, rumors are swirling that Janet Jackson is flirting with the idea of joining Simon Cowell‘s show The X Factor. The music icon joked on Anderson Cooper‘s daytime show when asked about joining the judges’ table, saying, “Oh my God. (laughs) … No, I’m not a judge on The X Factor. … But that’s all I really think I should say.”

However, a source of The Hollywood Reporter says that Janet has “expressed interest” in show. The trade publication added that show creator Cowell is holding preliminary meetings to fill the spots. If this works out, Janet would be replacing Nicole Scherzinger and/or Paula Abdul who were both let go following the first season.  Though seemingly close friends with Simon, Paula still didn’t manage to hold her seat at the judges’ table. However, no hard feelings for Paula. “Simon and I, along with Fox and Fremantle, have been communicating about this for a while now, and I have absolute understanding of the situation.”

Janet Jackson has admitted in the past that she has issues with food, and, as you may or may not recall, the pop icon graced the July 2005 cover of Us Weekly claiming she shed 60 pounds in just four months. Now, Miss Janet is back in the headlines for her weight loss, but this time it seems she’s taking a more healthy approach. 

The entertainer disclosed that she is now the new spokesperson for Nutrisystem. In an interview with Good Morning America this week, Janet said of her new regimen, “It’s a matter of learning how to keep it off, that maintenance and they have a program for that.”

Janet also said her goals aren’t just to be skinny like they used to be. 

“My success plan is to be healthy and feel good about me.” Way to go Janet! Looking good for 45!
