So, for H&M’s unveiling of their Fashion Against AIDS line, they didn’t just go with one celebrity spokesperson — they got a handful. Whether it’s male or female, Hollywood’s most fashionable like Gossip Girl‘s Penn Badgley and Big Love beauty Ginnifer Goodwin paired up with the retailer, who will be donating 25% of sales of the new line to youth HIV / AIDS projects around the world.

Also lending a hand are musicians Akon and Keri Hilson, Twilight star Nikki Reed and others.

Badgley said in a statement about his involvement: ““I think it’s good to keep young people, all people, aware about HIV. It’s something that’s it’s easy to forget about. It’s a serious issue and it affects so many people. It’s not just restricted to any community. The more awareness, the better and the safer we can all be. People need to be sensitive and safe, a lot of times it’s easy to let that go.”

Akon, who signed Lady GaGa to his Kon Live Distribution label in 2008 claims that Christina is trying way too hard to copy GaGa’s style. From Vibe magazine:

Aw man, that’s not even any competition [...] You are actually giving Christina too much credit. She always had her cool little look and way about how she went about things. But soon as Gaga came out everything switched up. Christina stepped out of her own shell to become something different. And the crazy thing is Christina is really talented. She has unlimited range when it comes to singing. Her voice is out of here. I just think she just needs to believe in herself more. I think sometimes she gets insecure because of all of the success Gaga has had not realizing that she was already successful before Gaga came out.

Is Christina a member of GaGa’s little monsters? We thought that copying Lady GaGa’s look was something limited to 16-year-old suburban girls who think Andy Warhol is God, not established pop stars like Christina.

Then again, Akon did sign GaGa so maybe he is biased in the GaGa/Christina comparison. Maybe Christina isn’t trying to be GaGa, she is just adapting to a new, more grown-up style. And the androgynous, hard-edge fashion look that GaGa has adopted is currently a big fashion trend, so maybe Christina is just keeping up with the fad?

Akon goes on in the interview to say that he misses “the old Christina Aguilera” and that he would like to see them get together to do a project but “that’s impossible if they are both trying to do the same thing musically.”

The rapper first worked with MJ on the remix of his ’80s hit “Wanna Be Startin’ Something” for last year’s Thriller 25th Anniversary Edition.

Akon recalled how the meeting came about, saying that Jackson’s attorney Peter Lopez called him with Michael on the phone, but Akon thought he was joking and hung up on him! When he found out that it was really Michael on the phone, he hopped on a plane to Vegas the very next day.

He also talked about another song he and Michael collaborated on for Akon’s album, called “Hold My Hand,” which has fitting lyrics such as, “This life don’t last forever” that seem eerie now.

Will the new song be released to the public? He’s hopeful, but wants to let the Jackson family decide what to do with it.

His one word to sum up Michael Jackson, with whom he last spoke about three months ago?

“Irreplaceable.”

The teen in question allegedly threw an object at Akon during a June 3, 2007, gig in Fishkill, New York. The 35-year-old Grammy winner then instructed the audience to point out who the culprit was.

Akon (real name: Aliaune Thiam) pulled the male concertgoer onstage, flipped him over his shoulders and threw him back into the crowd before announcing, “Now we can start the show!”

Akon pleaded guilty to harassment in the second degree in a Fishkill court, reports Billboard. He’ll serve no jail time, provided he performs 65 hours of community service and pays a fine of $350.

Akon’s rep released the following statement to TMZ: “We are pleased that the case has been resolved and Akon looks forward to putting this unfortunate incident behind him.”

Elsewhere, while the singer’s third album—ironically titled Freedom—debuted last week at #7 on the Billboard album chart, it has since fallen out of the Top 10 altogether.

Stars have begun piling into Paramount Studios in Hollywood for tonight’s 2008 Video Music Awards ceremony. Perhaps no celebrity made a more impressive splash than rapper T-Pain, who arrived at the event venue atop an elephant. (Hmm; pachyderms seem to be a running theme with this year’s VMAs.)
