Adrienne Maloof has been given the seal of approval from the (other) most important woman in boyfriend Sean Stewart’s life: his mother.

“As long as my son is happy, I’m fine with it,” Alana Stewart, the ex-wife of rocker Rod Stewart and Sean’s mom, exclusively told Celebuzz.

And why wouldn’t she be? For starters, 51-year-old Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Maloof only recently divorced her husband, plastic surgeon Paul Nassif. Oh, and she’s almost 20 years older than 32-year-old Sean.

Still, Alana isn’t concerned.

“I have met Adrienne, and I actually like her a lot,” said the 67-year-old, who also counts George Hamilton as an ex-husband. “To tell you the truth, I don’t pay too much attention to all the publicity. My son is a grown man, and he has to make his own decisions. And I approve of him dating Adrienne.”

Mother-of-two Maloof, meanwhile, has defended her new romance as the new normal, pointing to a few celebrity cougars as proof.

“Jennifer Lopez, Madonna and Demi Moore – it’s a trend now,” she told Life & Style. “Men do it all the time, so I guess now I am a trendsetter too. I honestly had no idea what kind of buzz this was going to get – not just here, but around the world.”

That buzz hasn’t quite extended to Rod and Alana, as the latter told us that the two haven’t discussed their son’s new romance.  But Alana certainly has plenty to talk about otherwise: besides running the Farrah Fawcett Foundation — which aims to raise money for cancer research in memory of her best friend — the philanthropist and author recently released a memoir, Rearview Mirror.

And she’s busy gushing over her new granddaughter, Delilah — the love child of her daughter Kimberley Stewart and Oscar winner Benicio Del Toro.

“My granddaughter did get christened recently,” said Alana, who revealed that the ceremony was held in Puerto Rico. “It was before a small group of people including Benicio’s family, who are from that part of the world. But neither Rod or I attended the event.”

“I’m really impressed with Kimberley — she is great with Delilah, who is a beautiful little girl.”

Farrah Fawcett would have celebrated her 66th birthday today.

The iconic actress and model with the famous megawatt smile died of cancer on June 25, 2009, with her partner Ryan O’Neal and her best friend Alana Stewart by her side.

“I still think about Farrah every day — she remains an inspiration to both myself and a lot of other people who knew her,” Stewart told Celebuzz exclusively.

Stewart, 67, who helps run The Farah Fawcett Foundation, misses her dear friend and the memorable birthday parties she used to host for her every year.

And she will talk to Fawcett’s longtime love O’Neal today about the woman who played such an important part in both their lives.

“I will speak with Ryan to reflect with him on Farrah. We both really miss not being able to celebrate her birthday with her,” revealed Stewart, who was married to rock legend Rod Stewart, with whom she has two children, Kimberly, 33, and Sean, 32, who happens to be dating much-older Beverly Hills housewife Adrienne Maloof, 51. She also has a son Ashley Hamilton, 38, with ex-husband, actor George Hamilton.

“Farrah used to love the birthday parties I would throw for her because she really liked to have fun and knew how to enjoy herself.”

And there are two things Stewart will never forget about her BFF.

“I miss her sense of fun and the conversations and companionship we shared. She was truly a great and loyal friend,” she added.

“Both Ryan and their son Redmond O’Neal are doing well just now and Farrah would be really happy about that. But the reality is that we all still really miss her.”

Both Stewart and O’Neal combined to produce Farrah’s Story over three years ago that documented the TV star’s brave battle with cancer — and was watched by nearly nine million viewers when it aired on NBC.

Stewart has continued to celebrate her friend’s life through The Farah Fawcett Foundation that has helped to fund much-needed work in the field of cancer research.

“The foundation is a living testimony to what a brave person Farrah Fawcett was and we are using that memory to continue the fight against the disease that took my friend and that has affected so many other millions of other people.”

Today, the Alex and Ani store at 150 Worth Avenue, Suite 119, in Palm Beach, Florida, will co-host a Charmed By Charity shopping event in Palm Beach to mark Fawcett’s birthday anniversary and to benefit The Farrah Fawcett Foundation.

Armani Beauty celebrity makeup artist Tim Quinn, a cancer survivor who had worked with Fawcett over the years, will co-host the event.

Nearly three decades after her divorce from rocker Rod Stewart, Alana Stewart tells Celebuzz she’s managed to form a “civil” and “sometimes very nice” relationship with her famous ex-husband.

“The one thing we really disagree about is the kids — our views on adult kids and what responsibility a parent should take or not take,” Stewart told Celebuzz while promoting her new memoir, Rearview Mirror. “That’s our big bone of contention. I’ve never had a close relationship with Rod since the breakup like I’ve had with [my first husband] George [Hamilton]. We’ve always been like family.”

Looking back on the couple’s 1984 divorce, Stewart admits getting to that point of civility was “very, very difficult.”

“I was emotionally shattered,” she confessed. “I thought both of my marriages would be forever. I started seeking a spiritual path after Rod and I broke up because I was so devastated. I needed something to put me back together.”

In Rearview Mirror, on book stands now, Stewart writes openly about a number of emotional topics — everything from the downfall of her two marriages to her own battles growing up in a dysfunctional family.

“One of the reasons I wrote the book was because I think people sometimes tend to have images of people they see and have no idea what really goes on underneath,” Stewart said. “If you’ve gone through a lot of difficult challenges and you’re able to share them, maybe you can help them.”

One of the most painful topics Stewart, a former model, writes about is a traumatic rape, which happened when she was just 18.

“That was a transforming moment in my life. It was a horrible experience and it was shameful back in those days. The police treated me like I was the criminal not the victim,” she said.

She also suffered from bulimia.

“I had always thought I was skinny and I come to New York and the first thing the modeling agency tells me to do is lose five pounds immediately,” she recalled. “My body image changed overnight. Consequently, I became bulimic. All of that stems from low self-esteem. It’s really hard to have great self-esteem if you come from a dysfunctional family.”

Indeed, Stewart faced many harrowing challenges growing up in poor, rural Texas; her father abandoned her at a very young age, while her mother was addicted to pills.

“We didn’t have rehab then,” she said, referring to her mother’s addiction. “There wasn’t a Betty Ford where you could easily send someone. I didn’t know how to handle it. She kept going in and out of mental institutions. She wasn’t crazy, it was really the drug addiction.”

 She also admits her father’s abandonment greatly affected her future relationships with men.

“I tended to pick men that were somehow unavailable,” she told Celebuzz. “Either they were workaholics or emotionally unavailable. That was my pattern in life. You keep recreating the initial scenario in your life hoping that this time it will be different — and it never is.”

Eventually, Stewart escaped Texas and moved to New York, where she became a model.

From there, Alana married twice — to George Hamilton and Rod, respectively — and had three children, Ashley, 38, with Hamilton, and Kimberly, 33, and Sean, 32, with Rod.

Still, pain and heartache followed. In addition to two divorces, sons Ashley and Sean both became addicted to drugs.

“It was incredibly painful and difficult,” Stewart said. “What really got me through was 12 step programs. I speak at drug and alcohol centers and to parents whose children are battling addiction and I find that very helpful for me. We all need help when we go through difficult times. We’re not equipped to do it on our own.”

Her daughter Kimberly also had a daughter with actor Benicio del Toro.

“I was surprised. With my kids I want them to be happy,” she said. “I don’t have a lot of judgement on what they do. It was the right decision because she’s a wonderful mother and I have an incredible granddaughter.”

But despite everything, Stewart, now 67, somehow found a way to stay positive.

“We have to look for the things in our lives that are good and be grateful for them and focus on them and not the negative,” she told Celebuzz. “I believe I’m a better mother, friend and woman because of all the challenges I’ve been through. I think I’m a pretty good person.”
