“That’s a battle I won’t ever win,” he joked to Celebuzz. “She was a fan of the original books and first movie. She loved Robert Pattinson and wanted to be a vampire girl. It was the craziest thing.”

He’s not too upset about her loyalty to R.Pattz’s character though, because it was her devotion to the series that eventually landed him the role of a hot-tempered werewolf named Paul in New Moon and Eclipse.

“She was the one who told me about the audition and pushed me into getting a role,” he said.

Ironically, once he landed the gig, she only had one ground rule: no spoilers.

“It’s funny. She knows the plot but gets annoyed when I talk about what’s happening on set. I guess it ruins the mysticism of what she loves about it,” he added.

The whole Twilight crew will be hunkered down in Vancouver spending the next couple months filming the final installment, Breaking Dawn and while spending two months in wintery Canada could seem hard for some, these actors have each other to keep them company.The paps spotted some of the cast spending some quality time together out and about in Vancouver on Wednesday. Some of the crew that was seen? Jacob’s werewolf buds, Alex Meraz and Bronson Pelletier along with Jacob Black’s own pop, actor Gil Birmingham.

When asked what Twi-hards can expect from the final installments of the vamp saga, Alex Meraz, who plays buff wolf Paul, replied: “More abs! Sprayed on abs, more grease to make the abs look better!”

How does the wolfpack keep their abs and pecs in perfectly toned harmony? Meraz admits that he and fellow werewolves Taylor Lautner, Chaske Spencer, Kiowa Gordon and Bronson Pelletier aren’t shy about checking up on each other’s fitness.

“That’s what we always do, ‘Oh, your arms are getting a little bigger, your chest is getting bigger,’” he continued. “We totally always do that. It’s very macho, but fun.”

Luckily Twi-hards may be able to keep tabs on the wolves on the New Orleans set of Breaking Dawn, where Meraz and his co-stars will hopefully enforce their long-held ‘shirts optional’ policy.

Alex Meraz, apparently in the middle of dressing (or undressing!), got curious and peeped out at the paparazzi from his hotel room balcony. Alex’s co-star Xavier Samuel was also spotted talking on his phone outside the hotel with his shirt on.

Now that it looks like Alex is starting a shirt-optional party during the Eclipse press junket, we wonder when Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson are going to join in.

Meraz was joined by his co-stars Tinsel Korey and Julia Jones in Los Angeles on Thursday at a volunteer event for Los Angeles Playground Build, in support of United Health Care’s “Do Good Live Well” and the Entertainment Industry Foundation’s iParticipate campaigns. Looks like Alex was put on flowerpot-painting duty—not that he seems to mind much.

New Moon wolf packer Alex Meraz sank his fangs and claws into his co-star Taylor Lautner‘s latest project on his Twitter account on Wednesday, calling the star-studded romantic comedy Valentine’s Day—with a cast that also includes Taylor Swift, Jennifer Garner, Jessica Alba and Bradley Cooper—”lame and desperate.”

“Oh, no, he didn’t,” you say? Oh yes, he did! Check it out:

“Sorry Taylor but the movie Valentine’s Day looks lame and desperate. It cries out, ‘look we have all the biggest starz in 1 movie pleez watch!’ “

Oomph; way to be supportive, Alex! Unfortunately, before Meraz and Lautner could settle the dispute with a Hottest Abs contest, Alex logged back on to clarify that it’s nothing personal that he hates the very idea of Lautner’s new movie:

“P.S. it has nothing to do with the talented actors in the movie. I just don’t like the producer & Directors’ ‘get rich quick skeem’ nuff said.”

Shortly thereafter, now with both feet solidly lodged in his mouth, Meraz gave it another shot with his mea culpa:

“Talk about biting the hand that feeds me…but I’m a wolf for crying out loud! I’ll be careful next time I spill twitter all over everyone.”

Dang; and after all that we were really hoping to see Alex’s appraisal of Remember Me…

Access Hollywood recently interviewed Alex Meraz, Bronson Pelletier, Kiowa Gordon and Chaske Spencer—collectively known as New Moon‘s Wolf Pack—and asked them the question that’s on everybody’s mind: What’s better, vampires or werewolves?

The resounding reply, as one might imagine, was for the latter. As Meraz noted,

“We’re taller, darker and more handsome.”

As for the other pressing question of the day—which Wolf Pack member has the best abs—the quartet, hands-down, declares Gordon the winner. Though, as Meraz visually demonstrates, he’s not too shabby himself.

On his favorite New Moon  scene to film: “The cliff diving scene was the most fun because the whole Wolf Pack was there and we were jumping off these 50-foot scaffolding things onto an air mattress. It was pretty exciting to be able to do our own stunts.”

On not using stunt doubles: “They were pushing for it, we were pushing against; we wanted to do our own stuff. We had to train for a good two days, eight hours each day just practicing jumping, making sure we were landing safely. On the day [of shooting], we were actually jumping from a green screen cliff but it was actually taller and a little bit more dangerous because there was foliage and grass on top of it—it was a little slippery. We were fine, and it was really fun.”

On the difference between filming New Moon and Eclipse: “[Shooting Eclipse] was no pressure. The pressure was doing the job on the first one, trying to understand the character. On this one, I felt a little bit more comfortable with what I was doing. I already knew the cast, so it was a lot easier.”

The hotties of the Twilight Wolf Pack were caught sexy, shirtless and wearing UGG boots on the set of Eclipse yesterday!

Bronson Pelletier (Jared), Alex Meraz (Paul), Tyson Houseman (Quil Ateara), Kiowa Gordon (Embry Call) and Julia Jones (Leah Clearwater) looked like they were all having a blast in between filming.

And their bodies? Looking good, wolfs! Check ‘em out in our hot new gallery!

The New Moon hunk—who plays Paul in the Twilight sequel—recently subjected himself to a video portrait by photographer Tyler Shields, the genius behind this bizarre Zachary Quinto portrait.

And, well, the results this time around are equally puzzling.

So many questions. Why the angry face? The hole in the wall? Is this an Incredible Hulk tribute?

Celebuzz has told you all about the new Wolf Pack that will be tearing up the big screen next November in the second Twilight flick New Moon. Now, we’ve got the first sexy (and shirtless) picture of the four actors, Chaske Spencer, Alex Meraz, Kiowa Gordon and Bronson Pelletier, courtesy of USA Today. 

The four actors, who all have Native American heritage, join the buffed-up Taylor Lautner as the rivals of Robert Pattinson and the rest of the Cullen fam.

HE’S, UM, PRETTY HOT (OKAY, THAT WAS OUR POINT): “The camera loves him,” agrees Trujillo. ”Everywhere we go people are always saying, ‘Good God, who is your friend.’”  

“This is only going to be scarier now.”

HE’S GONE FROM ‘NEW WORLD’ TO ‘NEW MOON’: Meraz’s first big film was New World as one of the Powhatan core warriors. “That’s kind of where he got the bug,” says fellow New World cast member Trujillo. “It was an incredible experience.”

Meraz was in the running, but was turned down for Apocalypto: ”Mel felt he didn’t look Mayan enough, which was silly.” says Trujillo who was cast. “I don’t look Mayan either, but they put a prosthetic nose on me and I looked plenty Mayan.”

HE’S A SERIOUS DANCER: Meraz came to Trujillo’s attention when another choreographer found him break-dancing on the streets in Phoenix, Arizona. Besides break-dancing he excels in indigenous and contemporary dancing. Meraz is “an inherent dancer” says Trujillo. who is also a choreographer.

Even Colin Farrell was impressed when Meraz busted some moves at the New World wrap party. Trujillo: “Colin was just sitting and watching cross-legged all ga-ga going, ‘Oh my god.’ “

HE CAN KICK SERIOUS VAMPIRE BUTT: Alex has studied mixed martial arts, winning numerous tournaments in karate and the martial art of Capoeira. “He’s a pretty lethal martial artist,” says Trujillo. “He can kick some serious ass.”

So who’d win: Alex or a vampire? “If it were going to be one of the Twilight vampires, I’d bet on Alex in a minute,” laughs Trujillo. “But in the end, you bet on the screenwriter. They say what’s going to happen.”

THE DUDE WORKS HARD: Nabbing the key role in Twilight was no fluke for the young actor. “If there’s anyone I have known in my life that deserves this, it’s Alex,” says Trujillo. “He’s worked his ass off in the time I have known him. He never lets up.”

Beyond staying in top physical shape, the actor-student works hard on honing his craft, including his New Moon audition. “Alex drove from Phoenix to my ranch in New Mexico on his birthday weekend so I could help him with his audition,” says Trujillo. “It’s about 8 hours each way. But he knew he needed to get this done.” 

“He’s humble,” says Trujillo. “And he always showed that he was willing to listen and learn.”

Even with those essentials, it took a lot of work, luck and talent to break through. 

“New Moon happened to be there at the right time,” says Trujillo. ”This is his first big break. And what a break to have. This whole thing is a phenomena.”

SORRY LADIES, HE’S MARRIED: Alex is madly in love with his Vietnamese-American wife Kim, who posed nude while pregnant with their son. They have a child named Somak (Trujillo is the god-parent). Kim was the one who was a true Twilight fan.

“His wife is the one who has read all of those books. And she’s the one who said look, you have to got to get into this. This is perfect for you. You’re the one.”

FINALLY, HE’S RIPPED: “I sometimes have to tell him, ‘I hate you, put your shirt on,’ ” says Trujillo.

“He’s slender anyways and he has a body that just is that way. He doesn’t even really work out because if he works out he gets huge. He’s got these shoulders on him. It’s from the martial arts and the break dancing. And he’s one of those genetically gifted guy.”

“They are going to have to get a trainer for everyone else on set or he is going to stand out like a sore thumb.”
