Another song from The Great Gatsby soundtrack is making the rounds, thanks to some playtime by Mark Ronson.

On Friday night, Beyonce and Andre 3000’s cover of “Back to Black” was featured on Ronson’s East Village Radio show.

The setting — and time — seemed fitting, as Ronson co-wrote the song with Amy Winehouse for the late singer’s second studio album of the same name. “Back to Black” was released on Apr. 30, 2007.

Beyonce and Andre 3000’s cover is just one of many powerhouse tracks featured on the highly anticipated soundtrack to Baz Lurhmann’s big screen adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic.

In recent weeks, our ears have been blessed with songs including Lana Del Rey’s “Young and Beautiful,” Florence + The Machine’s “Over the Love” and The xx’s “Together.”

The Great Gatsby, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan and Tobey Maguire, opens in theaters on May 10. The soundtrack drops May 7.

The father of late singer Amy Winehouse wants George Clooney to play him in a biopic about his daughter.

Mitch Winehouse — who shares the Ocean’s 12 star’s silvery hair colour — is adamant any studio taking on the project should make sure they recruit someone “handsome” for his role.

When asked if the film was still in the works, the former taxi driver said: “I dare say … who’s going to play me, George Clooney? I mean they’ve got to get someone good and handsome. But they’ll probably end up with Ray Winstone or someone like that knowing my luck.”

It had been rumored Lady Gaga could play Amy — who was found dead in her London home in 2011 — in the movie, but while Mitch likes her as a person, he isn’t sure she’s right for the role.

He told reporters in London: “I mean Lady Gaga, if she wants to come and audition for it… I’ve met her parents a number of times, she’s a lovely girl and all this stuff like, prawns on her head, when she goes home she doesn’t wear raw meat on her head.

“Her mum says she puts her sneakers on and her tracksuit and sits on the couch and eats chocolates like everyone else. She’s a nice kid and her parents are just ordinary Italian working class people and she loves her mum and dad and she loves her grandparents.

“She’s the same as Amy – she’s a nice kid, very nice young lady. She still can’t play Amy though.”

Amy Winehouse may have tragically passed away in 2011, but her legacy still lives on.

On Friday, in what would’ve her 29th birthday, the charity that was set up in the late singer’s name announced it had raised £230,000 (approximately $US 373,129) since her death.

The Amy Winehouse Foundation, which was established by the “Rehab” crooner’s father Mitch, also pledged to raise £500,000 by the end of the year to support ”young people, especially those who are in need by reason of ill health, disability, financial disadvantage or addiction.”

How else has Winehouse’s death affect her fans?

The Amy Winehouse Foundation have used the proceeds from Lioness: Hidden Treasures, a posthumous collection of unreleased recordings that released last December, to pay for a full scholarships to the Sylvia Young Theatre School, a school which Winehouse attended as a teenager.

The album debuted at the top of the UK albums chart and has since gone double platinum.

Winehouse died on July 23, 2011 and her dead at her north London home. Coroners later confirmed that Winehouse, who had battled drink and drug addiction for several years, had died of alcohol poisoning.

Lady Gaga is paying tribute to Britain’s most beloved icons.

In a recent concert at the Twickenham Stadium in London, the Mother Monster unleashed her new song “Princess Die” to honor the late Princess Diana and Amy Winehouse as part of her musical tribute.

“Since I was a very young girl, the ‘People’s Princess’ (Diana) was the most important person in me and my mother’s life,” she told the crowd. “I swore if I ever had an audience like this in London, I would take a moment to appreciate her … This is for her, Amy Winehouse, Alexander McQueen, Whitney Houston and me.”

So what’s the song about?

With lyrics like, “Leave the coffin open when I go/ Leave my pearls and lipstick on so everybody knows/ Pretty will be the photograph I leave/ Laying down on famous knives so everybody sees,” it is obvious that the tune has somber message.

“This song is a little bit sad,” Gaga said a concert in Melbourne, Australia in June when she first debuted the song. “It’s in no way reflective of the rest of music on the album, but it’s about some of the most deep and personal thoughts I’ve ever had.”

Aside from Princess Di and Winehouse, Gaga also paid tribute to John Lennon, covering the late Beatles member’s famous tune, “Imagine.”

“Twickenham, I’m not even sure what to say. I’ll never forget tonight,” the 26-year-old songstress wrote on her Twitter after the performance. “London you were the fairest of the ball. Now THAT was f*cking fun.”

A year after Amy Winehouse died from an accidental alcohol overdose, the singer’s ex-husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, is fighting for his life.

Fielder-Civil, 30, is on life support after suffering from multiple-organ failure following his apparent intake of drugs and alcohol. He was rushed to a West Yorkshire, England, hospital on August 2 after he was found choking in bed after drinking, according to the U.K. Sun.

“The doctors say they don’t know the prognosis,” his live-in partner Sarah Aspin, who is the mother of Fielder-Civil’s 15-month-son, told the Sun. “They said they put him in a coma to help him and due to infection.”

“I’m praying he’ll survive,” she continued, “but I’m having to prepare myself that he may never wake up.”

And Winehouse’s father has called on his late daughter’s fans to keep Fielder-Civil in their prayers.

“Terrible news about Blake,” tweeted Mitch Winehouse, who has long said Fielder-Civil introduced his daughter to hard drugs. “Remember Amy loved him. Let’s pray for his recovery.”

Fielder-Civil, who has long battled heroin addiction, has had a few run-ins with the law. He was put behind bars in July 2008, according to the U.K. Guardian, and again in June last year for burglary and possession of an imitation firearm.

He was released just two weeks ago, though still wearing an electronic tag.

Winehouse and Fielder-Civil, a former music video assistant, wed in 2007. They pair divorced two years later.

The “Rehab” singer died just over a year ago on July 23, 2011, at the age of 27. The cause of death was rule an accidental alcohol poisoning.

SPIN released on Monday lost footage from its 2007 cover shoot with Amy Winehouse to mark the one-year anniversary of the singer’s tragic death.

In the footage, shot by her soon-to-be-husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, fans get an intimate look at the Rehab singer as she poses for famed photographer Terry Richardson. Oftentimes, she is seen smiling and laughing at the camera in between takes.

“Really well, baby,” she says with a smile, when Fielder-Civil asks how the shoot is going.

“It’s a life-long dream come true,” she added, on working with Richardson.

One year ago, the life of famed singer Amy Winehouse came to a sad end when police found the 27-year-old lifeless in her North London home.

A subsequent coroner’s report listed the cause of her death as alcohol poisoning, but the writing had long been on the wall: the singer had famously battled addiction for years, doing stints in rehab in summer 2007, late 2008 and then again just two months before her death. And earlier in the day of July 23, 2011, she canceled an upcoming tour, with her manager announcing that she was once again battling her demons.

He tweeted: “Amy Winehouse is withdrawing from all scheduled performances. Everyone involved wishes to do everything they can to help her return to her best and she will be given as long as it takes for this to happen.”

But before came she succumbed to her addictions, Winehouse was one of music’s brightest stars.

The singer scored hit singles (“Rehab” reached number 9 on the Billboard Hot 100), sold millions of albums (Back to Black was the UK’s best-selling album of 2007)  and won countless awards (she swept the Grammys in 2008).

A new Amy Winehouse song has hit the airwaves.

Nas‘ “Cherry Wine” — which features the late, great singer – debuted on BBC radio Tuesday night. The track, produced by Salaam Remi, features a drumbeat that samples James Brown’s “Funky Drummer.”

It’s not the first time Winehouse and Nas teamed up.

“Like Smoke” — a collaboration between the two — was released on Winehouse’s posthumous album, Lioness: Hidden Treasure. “Cherry Wine” will be included on Nas’ Life is Good, set to hit stores on July 17.

Both songs came from recording sessions that took place in 2008, and Nas says the duets were made of magic.

“We don’t even have an explanation for how it happened,” he told NME.  ”It was just magic. It just happened. It was supposed to happen. She made it happen.”

Remi, meanwhile, told the Hollywood Reporter that Winehouse’s influence will be felt for years to come.

“Amy is going to inspire a bunch of kids that aren’t even born yet — the same way she was inspired by Donny Hathaway, or Billie Holliday, or many different artists that came and passed away before she was born,” he said. “At the end of the day, what she’s been able to do in her musical legacy is going to last very long. And someone will be inspired.”

Winehouse died from alcohol poisoning at the age of 27 in July 2011.

Ten months after Amy Winehouse‘s death, the home where she died is up for sale.

The late singer, who died from alcohol poisoning in July 2011 at the age of 27, spent her last moments in this 2,500 square foot London home. In the wake of her sudden death, grieving fans blanketed the sidewalk outside the home with flowers, candles, photos and cards.

“The Winehouses have decided to put the house on the market, with great regret,” a family spokesperson said.

Located on London’s Camden Square, the Georgian-style home boasts three bedrooms, as well as two full bathrooms and two half bathrooms.

It is described as a “substantial and impressive three double bedroom, three reception room semi-detached period villa with well-proportioned private front and rear gardens.”

The family spokesperson added: “Amy loved that house but none of the family felt it appropriate that they should live in it.”

Winehouse’s body was discovered in a bed at the property after a long battle with drink and drugs.

Amy Winehouse‘s posthumous third album, Lioness: Hidden Treasures, isn’t out until December 6, but the two tracks released today prove that listeners may have a lot to look forward to.

The first track, “Our Day Will Come” is a reggae cover of the classic ’60s song by Ruby & The Romantics, recorded back in May 2002.

The second, “Like Smoke”, is a collaboration with rapper Nas, who Amy name-dropped in Back to Black‘s “Me & Mr. Jones.”

Amy’s soulful voice opens the jazzy, retro-soul song, with Nas rapping over the second verse. Despite being recorded in May 2008, the song is highly relevant today, with lyrics mentioning “protesting at Wall Street” and the “bourgeoisie”.

Months after the death of troubled-but-brilliant singer Amy Winehouse, her official cause of death has been revealed by the coroner, and what many suspected is true: Amy drank herself to death.

Winehouse died on July 23 after consuming massive amounts of alcohol, according to the coroner, and TMZ reports that Winehouse had more than 4 times the legal driving limit of alcohol in her system when her body was discovered in her London home. Thanks to her reputation for excess and multiple trips to rehab, many had suspected that drugs or alcohol were at least partially to blame for Winehouse’s untimely passing.

Amy’s family released a statement regarding the announcement, saying:

“It is some relief to finally find out what happened to Amy.  We understand there was alcohol in her system when she passed away, it is likely a build up of alcohol in her system over a number of days …  The court heard that Amy was battling hard to conquer her problems with alcohol and it is a source of great pain to us that she could not win in time. She had started drinking again that week after a period of abstinence.”

In the days following her death, thousands of fans poured into the streets near her home, leaving makeshift memorials and other items to remember the fallen star.

It’s been a sad weekend for Weezer lovers.

The band’s former bassist, Mikey Welsh, passed away at the age of 40 on October 8 in a Chicago hotel room. While the loss of Mikey is sad in and of it’s self, the circumstances around his death are down right eery.

On September 26, he tweeted:

“dreamt i died in chicago next weekend (heart attack in my sleep). need to write my will today.”

Not too much is known around what may have been the cause for his death, although The Daily Mail is reporting that it was a possible drug overdose.

Mikey isn’t the first celeb who has been lost before their time. Check out other celebs who were just simply gone too soon.

On what would be her 28th birthday, Amy Winehouse‘s final music video, “Body & Soul” was released on iTunes Wednesday. The late pop star, who sings alongside musical legend, Tony Bennett, is shown recording in London’s Abbey Road Studios back in March. The video shows no special effects or editing, just raw footage of Amy and Tony singing side-by-side. 

All proceeds from the release of the Grammy winner’s song will go directly to The Amy Winehouse Foundation. Both Tony and Amy’s record labels also will be donating royalty fees to the foundation which will benefit special projects and charities. 

On the day of the recording, Amy sat down for an interview about her experiences working with Tony.

Both Amy and her father, Mitch Winehouse, have idolized Tony and Amy explained,  ”My dad personally himself, he was like, ‘Oh, it’s only my favorite song in the world you’re going to sing. Oh my God. Do you even know it?’ I’m like, of course I know it, Mitchell, I’m your daughter. Of course I know it.”
Amy seemed to be overjoyed with the final product of the duet explaining, “The ending just worked out, like, perfect…it couldn’t have been better.”

Though she may have passed a few months back, Amy Winehouse is all but forgotten. Her music and iconic beehive hairdo are still fresh in our hearts and minds. Today, Sept. 14, the London native with the powerhouse vocal cords and love of 1960s girl groups would’ve celebrated her 28th birthday.

Amy first burst onto the music scene with her debut album Frank in 2003, but it was her sophomore effort that made her an international superstar. Backed by singer-songwriter-producer Mark Ronson and her smash single “Rehab”, which chronicled her own addiction problems, Back to Black skyrocketed Amy into superstardom in 2006.

Unfortunately for the beyond talented vocalist, her life continued to imitate her art. Battling several addictions, Amy bounced in and out of rehab while somehow maintaining a rocky relationship with longtime love Blake Fielder-Civil. Amy sadly passed away on July 23, 2011.

After the shocking news, an outpour of love came from the entertainment world as some of Amy’s closest friends and colleagues paid their respects to the fallen star.

More recently at the 2011 VMAs on August 28, Russell Brand, Tony Bennett and Bruno Mars all honored Amy Winehouse, the artist and friend.

Among other things, Amy Winehouse will certainly been remembered for her killer voice and her critically acclaimed Back to Black album.

Prior to her tragic death this past summer, Amy had gone into the recording studio with music icon Tony Bennett (who she calls Ton) to record a duet, and even granted an interview following the collaboration. Her quips and quotes are both endearing and sad. 

“First time I met Ton, I took my dad and stepmother and boyfriend to see him at Royal Rabbit Hole. We saw him both nights.”

Amy and Tony recorded the song “Body & Soul,” which the “Rehab” singer’s dad was excited to hear. She joked about her father’s reaction, saying, “He said, ‘Oh, it’s only my favorite song in the world you’re gonna sing. Oh my God. … Do you even know it?’ … And I was like ‘Of course I know it, Mitchell. I’m your daughter.’” 

Amy would have turned 28 on Sept. 14. She passed away at age 27 in her London home.

The MTV Video Music Awards always boasts a number of show-stopping performances and this year was no different.

Singer Amy Winehouse passed away on July 23, and the toxicology report has finally been released.

Although the 27-year-old “Rehab” singer publicly struggled with drug and alcohol addiction, only alcohol was in her system at the time of her death.

Radar Online reports:

“Toxicology results returned to the Winehouse family by authorities have confirmed that there were no illegal substances in Amy’s system at the time of her death,” her family said Tuesday. “Results indicate that alcohol was present, but it cannot be determined as yet if it played a role in her death.”

In a statement, the family of the late singer said:

“The family would like to thank the police and coroner for their continuing thorough investigations and for keeping them informed throughout the process. They await the outcome of the inquest in October.”

Winehouse was found dead in her London home on July 23, and original autopsy results to find a cause of death were ruled inconclusive. Also, the formal inquest into her death will resume on October 26.
