With the 2012 presidential election just around the corner, the stars are gearing up to place their votes.

But who is rooting for the incumbent President Barack Obama this time around?

If observers have learned anything over the past few weeks, it’s that celebs aren’t shy to express their political leanings. In fact, they wear them right on their sleeves — or their backs, in Madonna‘s case.

Many stars have staunchly advocated for Obama’s reelection, using their celebrity status to influence the public. And they just love to speak their political minds. From pro-Bama video messages to self-led Twitter campaigns, everyone has their own to way of endorsing their favorite candidate.

Even the less-outspoken celebs show their support by hosting mere $40,000 per-plate fundraisers, or making generous contributions to their party of choice.

But it will all come down to who can bring in the most support by Election Day, on Nov. 6.

Sarah Jessica Parker is preparing for one very important houseguest.

The Sex & The City starlet will be hosting none other than President Barack Obama on Thursday, June 17 for a campaign fundraising dinner — and she’s wasting no time in making sure her NYC pad is up to par.

Her co-host and Queen of Vogue, editor-in-chief Anna Wintour even dropped by SJP’s home on June 11 to oversee some of the preparations– which included the delivery of a piano– for the President and First Lady Michelle Obama‘s arrival this week.

Who else is expected at this star-studded affair?

Parker, 47, is known for her connections in the entertainment and fashion world, so there is no doubt this fashionista will have a star-studded guest list.

But the event won’t just be filled with Hollywood A-listers: In a commercial that debuted  during the MTV Movie Awards on June 4, she even opened her home for anyone who donates at least $3 to the campaign to be entered to win a seat at her dinner table.

Parker went on to express her support for Obama, calling him “the guy who says you should be able to marry anyone you want” and the man who “created 4 million jobs.”

Vogue editrix Anna Wintour doesn’t bestow her friendship on just anyone, but the fashion goddess has smiled on not one but two Gossip Girl stars.

Last night in London, the perfectly coiffed Anna was spotted chatting up Ed Westwick, the native Brit who plays mogul-in-the-making Chuck Bass on GG, at the Vogue London’s Emerging Designers cocktail party. Perhaps they were discussing Chuck’s neverending supply of silk pocket squares?

Anna met Ed’s acquaintance after recently friending his co-star (and Vogue covergirl) Blake Lively, even inviting her to sit front-row with her at fashion weeks in Paris and New York.

Lady Gaga may reign supreme with her little monsters, but she’s failed to find a fan in Vogue editor Anna Wintour.

A feud of sorts has been brewing between the two fashion icons since Gaga reportedly kept Wintour waiting at the Metropolitan Museum Costume Institute Gala in May, when Mother Monster (that would be Gaga) delayed her performance, Wintour said, because she was “communing with God.”

Now the author of the Gaga tell-all book, Poker Face: The Rise and Rise of Lady Gaga, tells RadarOnline that the Met Ball showdown left quite the bad taste in Wintour’s mouth.

“Anna wasn’t impressed. She thought that she was just sort of behaving like a childish diva and not the professional who was about to perform for her peers, these incredibly famous designers and celebrities,” Maureen Callahan wrote.

Breakout star and Oscar nominee Gabby Sidibe has enjoyed increasing success since she starred in the film Precious, but apparently all that talent and fame aren’t enough to get her into the pages of American Vogue.

Bitchy fashion “insiders” have dished that Gabby is considered to be “a joke” in the fashion community because of her weight and that “it would be impossible to get a regular-sized girl in [Vogue's sample sizes], let alone Gabby.” Yeesh, can someone give these old fashion crabs some carbs? We’ve heard that starvation can turn into a mean person, but we didn’t realize it was this bad.

However, Vogue has managed to squeeze “regular-sized” girls into their alleged limited run of sample-sized items, so that excuse seems a little thin. And Gabby has already graced the cover of fashion magazine V, so it seems a little strange that the fashion community is now rejecting her. Maybe the anonymous “fashion insiders” are just upset that someone is allowed to eat in Hollywood?

Vogue‘s Editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour does have a reputation for having high standards when it comes to plus-sized people appearing in her magazine. She famously had the plus-sized designing sisters of Rodarte go on a diet and see a trainer for Vogue‘s “shape” issue and she had once requested that Oprah lose weight for her cover story in 1998. So, it wouldn’t be surprising if Wintour denied Gabby a spread in the magazine based on her weight.

Always a safe bet for innovative fashion and a star-filled front row, Marc Jacobs hearkened back to the drama and decadence of the 80s with his Fall 2009 collection last night.

While the threads were splashy with shoulder pads and neons, the celebrity attendance was as minimal as monk robes.

It was previously announced by Jacobs and team that yesterday’s presentation, part of New York Fashion Week, would be scaled back grandly. Even more worrisome—a notoriously late Jacobs started the show only one minute off schedule.

Fashion elites Anna Wintour and daughter Bee Shaffer took in the looks, as did Rachel Zoe and French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld.

The very same show last year was attended by Victoria Beckham, M.I.A., Kevin Federline, Ellen Pomepo, Molly Sims, Gretchen Mol, Slema Blair, Vincent Gallo and Debbie Harry.

We understand scaling back in these economic times, but should our star consumption suffer as well?

Justin Timberlake is no stranger to sold out concerts, but it was his design debut at New York Fashion Week that had his tent looking like Madison Square Garden.

William Rast, the collection Timberlake conceived with childhood friend Trace Ayala, offered up its Fall 2009 pieces to fashion gurus and celebs alike.

From Anna Wintour to Emile Hirsch, the front-row touted the biggest celeb names currently in new york.

Girlfriend Jessica Biel perched next to Milk star Hirsch, while down a ways Paris and Nicky Hilton parked it. Wintour and daughter Bee Shaffer scoped hemlines and heavy fabrics where across the isle Aubrey O’Day pouted with pals.

French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld blessed JT with a backstage visit, as did Sports Illustrated golden girl Bar Rafaeli.

While it remains to be seen how the looks with sell in stores, we can at least say Timberlake has enough bold-named currency to carry him through to next season.

While she maintains she won’t be leaving her post as Editor-in-Chief of Vogue anytime soon, Anna Wintour did a little moonlighting this weekend for the Grammy Awards.

Wintour has taken UK singing sensation Adele under her wing, and while visiting the magazine offices recently to be photographed for a forthcoming issue got an added perk—Wintour insisted on dressing the star for the Grammy Awards.

“It was just like ‘The Devil Wears Prada,’” the 20-year-old told the International Herlad Tribune.

Winning Record of the Year for her cut “Chasing Pavements,” the singer turned up to the Grammy ceremony with Vogue editor at large Hamish Bowles.

“I don’t ever wear dresses,” she elaborated, “I wear dresses with tights and flat shoes and a cardigan. But I am going to get my boobs out and everything. It’s going to be quite a big deal.”

Anna Wintour has slapped a lot of faces on magazine covers in her 21 years as editor-in-chief of Vogue.

But when it comes to taking a cold, hard look at herself, she doesn’t always like what she sees.

Wintour, 59, was at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, on Saturday for the premiere of The September Issue, the R.J. Cutler-directed documentary about the inner workings of the magazine. (Cutler and his crew followed Wintour and the Vogue staff over nine months.)

Wintour was quick to admit that she wasn’t terribly comfortable watching herself on the big screen.

“It’s hard to look at yourself when you’re used to being on the other end of the camera,” Wintour told Us Magazine.

Come on, Anna; the pageboy haircut isn’t that goofy!

Wintour was probably most shaken while witnessing her behavior onscreen. The editorial big-wig—who inspired Meryl Streep‘s character in 2006′s The Devil Wears Prada—has a reputation for being somewhat imperious.

Though, if the rumors are true that she’s on her way out the door at Vogue, perhaps she can use the coming spare time to engage in a bit of soul-searching and attitude adjustment.

Despite her tall, blonde composure, it’s nice to know some things still make Whitney Port sweat.

While preparing her assimilation into The City, Lauren Conrad‘s former Vogue cohort takes to her official blog to relive a fond (although mortifying) moment from her former days on The Hills.

“At the time I thought this was just the most embarrassing moment of my life,” Port says of the video below, featuring West Coast Vogue contributing editor Lisa Love and Anna Wintour‘s right hand Andre Leon Talley.

“Come to think of it, it still is!” the 23-year-old confirms of the epic fall she took in Hilary Swank‘s Oscar gown. “But it made me learn to laugh at myself and realize that picking yourself up, both figuratively and literally, is just a part of life.”

Apparently the literal falling is more frequent than the figurative. Whitney goes on to describe a recent spill she took in a restaurant in New York City’s Meatpacking district.

“For some reason I was whispering to myself, ‘Don’t fall, don’t fall’…I fell flat on my ass!  The worst part is that the only people who saw it were my boyfriend and his best friend, the worst people I could think of to see it happen!”

Last night Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour, 59, attended the fifth anniversary of the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund at Skylight Studios in New York City.

But as New York magazine words it, her days of attending high-profile fashion soirées just might be coming to an end.

The publication points out that Wintour’s contract at Vogue‘s parent company Condé Nast is about to expire, and some sources say she’s considering retirement.

Currently, the editor, who inspired the Meryl Streep character in the film adaptation of The Devil Wears Prada, oversees Vogue, Men’s Vogue, Fashion Rocks and Teen Vogue.

New York notes, “With all the budget cuts at Condé and Vogue‘s flagging newsstand sales, now might not be a bad time to bow out. All the same… though the world’s other Vogue editors who have been rumored to replace Anna are fierce, none are nearly as fearsome.”

After 20 years of Wintour’s influence, could the print fashion world ever be the same without her?

It’s Fashion Week in New York City, which means that celebs are turning out in hordes to ogle the elegant duds that are beyond the average citizen’s price range.

The DKNY show on Sunday, for instance, found the trio of Winona Ryder, Nicole Richie and Christina Ricci sitting side-by-side for the runway display.

Here are some other famous faces who made their way to the Big Apple to check out this season’s new threads:

• Rosario Dawson looked lovely in yellow.
• Nicole Richie made a second, solo appearance, trying on her latest Tinkerbell inspired look.
• Padma Lakshmi showed off her gams.
• Anna Wintour True to her Devil Wears Prada persona, the Vogue editirix scowled at the runway.

The Sex and the City premiere at Radio City Music Hall last night, glam in its inception, ended up being a public-relations disaster, the New York Daily News reports. Upward of 2,000 fans who had scored their tickets through promotional giveaways were denied entrance to the premiere. Organizers had overbooked the 6,000-seat theater.

Many of the Sex starved, despite donning all sorts of overpriced finery, were surging against police barricades. Can’t you just hear it: “But I paid $1,000 on eBay for this Birkin bag just for tonight!” Radio City ushers kept pointing out to frustrated Cosmopolitan swillers and their gay best friends the fine print on the tickets, declaring the event to be “first come, first served.”

Even the stars were worried about their families getting in. “I hope my mom gets in,” Cynthia Nixon, who plays Miranda Hobbes, said. Don’t fret though, Sarah Jessica Parker managed to climb a fence to get in by using Matthew Broderick as a stepstool. Those Blahniks leave marks!

Obsessed City cats who had come from as far away as Arizona were ready to kick Carrie, Samantha, Miranda, Charlotte, Big, Steve and Stanford’s collective ass.

Jen Ferguson, 23, of British Columbia, who sported a “Hervé Léger bandage dress,” said, “I’ve spent five months looking forward to this. I’m angry and frustrated.” Her parents had rounded up four tickets for $1,000 each and booked rooms at the chichi Plaza Hotel. Hey, if Daddy can pay that much, just have a private screening, Vancouverian rich girl!

Others on hand, who presumably didn’t have trouble getting in, included Jerry Seinfeld, Ashley Olsen, Edie Falco, Vogue editrix Anna Wintour, Donald Trump, designer Zac Posen, Jennifer Hudson (who stars as Carrie’s assistant in the movie), Fergie, Mary J. Blige, Lil’ Kim and Donna Karan.

One flack told People the night was supposed to be “as glamorous as the Oscars,” with a pink carpet and Swarovski crystals adorning both the premiere and the after-party at the Museum of Modern Art.

The after-after party—for cast and crew only—took place at the Carlyle Hotel (wait, doesn’t Kim need to soak her dentures and hit the hay?), where the legendary Bemelmans Bar  created a sugary, tequlia-laden drink called the Bradshaw.

If you’re making it, serve shaken, straight up in a martini glass rimmed in hot pink sugar. And be sure to add extra dashes of hype, some lukewarm reviews and a feather from whatever the hell that was Parker had on her head at the London premiere.
