The first season of Carrie Diaries came to a fashionable finale this week. To help ease the withdrawal, we’re taking a look back at all the fab fashion from Season One. Dressed in black with heavy eye makeup, Carrie’s (AnnaSophia Robb) little sister Dorrit on The CW’s The Carrie Diaries would like you to believe she’s unflappable.

But, viewers love when the façade cracks, like when she receives tickets for The Nutcracker, or someone actually relates to her and sees beyond the walls she’s built up. So, fans of the show should be thrilled to hear that Dorrit will soon have her own love interest on the show.

“Dorrit finds her little Romeo,” Stefania Owen tells Celebuzz about her character. “So, it’s not only Carrie and Sebastian, but it’s also Dorrit and her love interest. So, I’m excited to see how that plays out because I haven’t seen any of the scenes that we filmed. It’s a surprise for the viewers.”

On Monday’s episode, “The Long and Winding Road Not Taken,” Carrie turns 17. And in Dorrit’s search for the perfect gift, she finds something (well, someone) totally unexpected.

“The boy isn’t going to disappear like the hamster,” Owen says of the romance’s multiple episode story arc, though she wouldn’t name who’s playing Dorrit’s love interest.

Of course, The Carrie Diaries is all about a girl finding herself as much as it’s about finding herself in the right relationship – much like HBO’s Sex and The City. And up until now, the series has been all about establishing whether Sebastian (Austin Butler) is the right fit for Carrie. Owen definitely has her thoughts on that coupling.

“It’s hard because it’s like [Sex and the City’s] Carrie and Big,” the 15-year-old tells us. “You want Carrie and Sebastian to be together, but you know that in the end something will happen that will break Carrie’s heart. So, as much as you want Carrie and Sebastian to be together, you know that something’s going to go wrong along the way. So, it’s really hard.”

“But I have to say, I do love Carrie and Sebastian when they’re together,” she weighs in.

Owen’s short resume includes some pretty big projects, including the critically loved film, The Lovely Bones. And even though she starred alongside Will Arnett and Keri Russell on the short-lived FOX comedy, Running Wilde, that experience doesn’t make the idea of cancelation any easier.

“That part about the job is really hard, especially cause we live in New Zealand,” Owen says. “So, we live quite far away so it’s a big deal to be here and do to this. So, it’s hard to say goodbye when you don’t know for how long. But, I think the energy is really positive, whether it goes or not, all of us are going to see each other again. Everyone is so close, which is really, really great. And we’re just hoping for the best, fingers crossed.”

Owen says that The CW should announce their decision in May. “So all of us are just waiting until then,” she says. “It’s positive, but we don’t know for sure.”

The Carrie Diaries airs Mondays at 8PM on The CW.

Grown-up Carrie Bradshaw may have loved her designer duds on Sex and the City, but young Carrie takes a far more realistic approach to fashion — both on and off camera.

On Carrie Diaries, Carrie sources many of her high school and internship clothes from her mom’s closet, including her signature “Carrie” bag, while off-screen the show’s star AnnaSophia Robb relies on budget-friendly brands like H&M for her staples.

“I love H&M because it’s affordable and that’s where I shop,” Robb said about the Sweedish brand while attending H&M’s “Denim Days” Launch event in New York City over the weekend. “It’s accessible to girls my age and to women in general and it’s fashionable.”

And that’s not just lip-service.

The Carrie Diaries star was decked out in H&M as she greeted fans and customized her own pair of jeans at H&M’s Fifth Avenue store. Looking chic in rolled light-wash jeans ($24.95), a white tank ($34.95) and a sequin cardi ($59.95), we could hardly believe Robb’s off-the-rack ensemble cost less than $125, a fraction of a pair of Bradshaw’s signature Manolos.

The ’80s are back in a big way for Fall 2013.

Extending on the neon trend thst has been going strong for a while now, we’ve seen big shoulders, culottes and even perms make a return to the fall 2013 runways at New York Fashion Week, making us wonder if New York’s fashion designers are as obsessed with Carrie Diaries as we are.

Marc Jacobs sent permed models — including a few that we’re dead ringers for Carrie Diaries‘ star AnnaSophia Robb down the runways — in oversized blazers, turtleneck dresses and culottes (in case you didn’t live through that fashion phase, think a mix between capris and palazzo pants).

The Working Girl-inspired get-ups paired with oversized shades reminded us very much of Melanie Griffith’s memorable role (and something our moms might have worn back in the day).

Kate Spade and Tracy Reese also channeled the ’80s with neon pieces and punk-prep looks that seemed to be designed with a young Carrie Bradshawin mind, especially Kate Spade’s Manhattan-inspired accessories that paid tribute to the aspiring writer’s true love.

AnnaSophia Robb admits there are some things about her character on The CW’s The Carrie Diaries that she would like to change.

“I want her to calm down a little bit, not think about stuff so much,” she said while on a break shooting the show in Brooklyn. “And those are really changes that I would want to make happen in my own personality! But, it’s good to have all those faults because that’s what makes a person interesting.”

The 19-year-old actress is charming and thoughtful when discussing her celebrated alter ego, but is careful not to spill the beans on what’s in store for Carrie and Sebastian except to say that the couple “have a bunch of trials to work through together and you never know exactly how each one feels about the other, it changes all the time.”

So will Carrie have someone new to swoon over?

“I’d like to see her date other guys, because I think it’s more interesting, it’s conflict, it introduces new characters and you see how she responds to different situations,” but she admits, “when you introduce a character as a love interest in the first episode of a show you always kind of want them to end up together.”

The Soul Surfer star only had the highest praise for Austin Butler, who plays Sebastian Kydd.

“He’s like the nicest guy in the entire world,” she enthused. “He’s so respectful of everyone and very funny. We always have a great time on-set laughing and goofing around. It’s hard to take each other seriously, it’s always supposed to be this flirty, sexy scene and we end up laughing at each other.”

The petite actress says that the show’s executive producer Amy B. Harris and the network stressed that they definitely did not want an impersonation of a young Sarah Jessica Parker playing Carrie Bradshaw which she’s happy about.

“We’re not replicating the show,” although, “I personally wanted to have a tie into to Sex and the City, where you can see where Carrie begins. It’s nice to have the show and pick up some things to develop my character.”

Robb did catch up on all the seasons once she started auditioning and fell in love with the show and the characters. She even met the original Carrie Bradshaw AKA Parker at a fashion show after she had won the part, but it was a very fleeting get together.

“It wasn’t anything super personal, it was at a fashion show,” Robb explained. “She’s teeny-tiny! She still has a fantastic body! I think every woman envied her on that show.”

Even though she’s been working since she was a child (appearing on shows like Drake & Josh),Robb still attended a regular school. In fact, she only graduated a couple of years ago!

“I went to a public high school and it wasn’t nearly as glamorous as this,” she said laughingly. “But, I had the best time in high school. I made so many great friends. I’m super close with so many friends from high school.”

AnnaSophia Robb put her best Carrie Bradshaw face on as the young actress filmed new scenes for her CW show The Carrie Diaries in New York City on Wednesday.

“On set with our director jannturner and @jakerobinsonact,” the 19-year-old wrote on Twitter.

Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters is being released this weekend, transforming the classic fairy tale into action-packed adventure. The film follows in the footsteps of such projects as Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, which found America’s 14th president battling bloodsuckers — and not the ones in Congress! — and falls in line with a spate of projects, including a long-discussed adaptation of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, which turns classic literature, or even the stuff of history, into thrill rides for popcorn-munchers around the globe.

All of which led us to wonder — which of our favorite childhood stories could also be made into big-budget, high-concept hits? We flipped through a few of the yarns we loved as children and set our imaginations to work.

Unhindered by budgetary limitations or other such obstacles, we came up with seven stories that might make interesting moviegoing fodder, and included a shortlist of directors and stars who might be best-suited to bring them to life.

Before men, Manolos and Manhattan, Carrie Bradshaw was just a doe-eyed young girl dreaming of the Big Apple.

That’s where the The CW’s The Carrie Diaries — a Sex and the City prequel based on Candace Bushnell‘s young-adult series — begins the character’s coming-of-age story.

And as the premiere episode paints a portrait of a teenaged Bradshaw, AnnaSophia Robb manages to capture some of the essence of the Sarah Jessica Parker‘s now-iconic protagonist, who won over women everywhere on the famed, no-holds-barred HBO hit series.

But not all is the same between the two series. And while some die-hard SATC fans fear the prequel will tarnish the worshiped original, they may want to tune in to find out the true Bradshaw back-story.

Here are six facts about the character that Celebuzz gleaned from the Carrie Diaries‘ first-ever episode:

1. On her own.
Though much of Carrie’s shadowy past was left unspoken in SATC, Carrie Diaries kicks off just months after the teen lost her mom to cancer. “Nobody’s better off without a mom,” Carrie bemoans.

2. Sister, sister.
Surprise! Carrie is a big sister — to an angsty, looking-for-trouble teen named Dorrit. “Dorrit, where’s the purse?” Carrie angrily asks in the opening scene. Dorrit plays dumb: “What purse?” But Carrie isn’t having it. “Give me a break, Dorrit,” she says. “You know exactly what purse I’m talking about — mom’s purse.” The sibling standoff quickly escalates to slapping, hair-pulling and even biting. With fights that feisty already, perhaps it’s no surprise viewers don’t hear one word of Dorrit in SATC.

3. Laying down the law.
How does Carrie first land in New York City? Through the legal system, in a sense. “Like, work in an office? Where?” Carrie asks when her father proposes an internship. “My friend’s law firm…in Manhattan,” he replies. “Manhattan? No way! Ah, no way! … I can’t believe it. I can’t believe.” Promising her father she will be a “total professional,” she hopes, “Will I need a briefcase?”

4. No Manolos or men.
Even Carrie viewers quickly learn that after her friend’s sexually active summers, Carrie is the last virgin standing in her pack of pals. “While I had spent my summer grieving and letting go of my childhood, my friends were entering adulthood,” muses the voice-over. “Virgin. Sexually-inexperienced woman. A blank slate unchanged by any past intimate connection or experience. The uninitiated. Yep, that pretty much described me.”

5. Locking lips.
While SATC viewers may recall Carrie dishing on her first time between the sheets, her first kiss was never brought to light… until now. As Carrie bonds with new-boy hunk Sebastian over their shared love for video games, he goes in for the smooch. When Carrie panics by pushing him into the pool, Sebastian lifts her up and lowers her down into his embrace. “It was a moment that I wanted to last forever,” Carrie gushes in the voiceover. “My first kiss.”

6. Girl is a gamer.
Sure, magazines, movies and page-turners were always a part of Carrie’s past-times. But video games? Back in her teens, it seems Carrie was a real gamer. “Adventure is so cool. You have to get this magic chalice to this gold castle. And then there’s these dragons trying to kill you,” she yammers on to Sebastian about the Atari video game. “So you’re the princess who slays who own dragons?” he asks. “Well, somebody has to,” she admits. “Might as well be me, right?”

Carrie Bradshaw is back — but she’s dancing to the beat of a different drum.

With the premiere of The CW’s The Carrie Diaries, AnnaSophia Robb reinvents the celebrated Sex and the City character — made famous over a decade ago by Sarah Jessica Parker — starring as a 16-year-old Bradshaw yearning for the bright lights of the big city.

Living with her father in Connecticut, Carrie tries to navigate high school with her trio of pals, Maggie (Katie Findlay), Mouse (Ellen Wong) and Walt (Brendan Dooling).

But unlike the HBO hit series, The Carrie Diariesis not all brunching in the Meatpacking District, strutting Madison Ave. in Manolo Blahniks and sipping Cosmos in scene-y clubs. As the prequel rewinds several decades to 1984, young Bradshaw find hers way in a world of bright-colored fashions, big hair and, of course, 80s music.

As the show tackles themes of friendship, family, sexuality, and self-discovery, chart-topping beats from the era blaze in the background.

On Monday night’s series premiere — as Bradshaw begins junior year, lands an internship at a Manhattan law firm and meets her magazine editor mentor — the 11-song playlist evolved from Modern English‘s New Wave jam, “I Melt With You,” to Madonna‘s breakout hit “Material Girl,” to even Cyndi Lauper‘s girl-power anthem, “Girls Just Want To Have Fun.”

On Sex and the City, Carrie Bradshaw was always trying to “have it all” in Manhattan between her high profile job as a columnist (and later, author), her tumultuous romantic relationships, her casual brunches (or girls’ nights out with Cosmos) with friends, and of course, her fabulous fashion.

But that version of Carrie Bradshaw was very much a fully formed woman, making decisions — and yes, mistakes — based on her belief system from the earlier relationships and struggles that shaped her. Amy B. Harris‘ CW version of Carrie Bradshaw on The Carrie Diaries is a young woman who is just starting to have the experiences that will inform and shape who she is later in life. And though she may only be in high school, this Carrie (AnnaSophia Robb) may be juggling even more.

“She’s just lost her mom, so that’s a big adjustment for Carrie, and I think it’s more of she’s trying to adjust to a new role in the family. Dorrit, her sister, is really acting out, so [Carrie] feels like she really needs to be in control of her younger sister to keep her protected and at the same time be there for her dad,” Robb told Celebuzz.

“But at the same time, she’s just getting into New York and just starting to explore this sort of wild world and going to parties and dressing in this fabulous fashion she never even knew existed and figuring out her love life. She’s maturing, so there’s two different worlds she’s trying to balance and two different selves,” Robb continued when we sat down with her in Los Angeles, Calif. ”Carrie’s trying to grasp her future, instead of look to the past.”

When we first meet the burgeoning fashionista on The Carrie Diaries premiere, she is very much a sweet and innocent junior in high school who just experienced her first kiss last summer. The series is set up to be a “coming-of-age” story for Carrie, and therefore the “loss of innocence” will certainly be explored as she experiences first love — with the kid who gave her her first kiss, Sebastian (Austin Butler), as well as with the city of Manhattan.

Carrie gets an internship that takes her into the city after school, allowing her to explore and see a world in which she desperately wants to belong. But just because she’s gotten a taste of a better, longer-term life doesn’t mean Carrie is leaving her friends or teenage problems completely behind.

“There are different dynamics between different people. I’d say Carrie and Mouse have more heart-to-heart discussions. I think Walt feels more comfortable with Carrie about sharing what his true feelings are. Obviously, Walt and Maggie have a special relationship and a closeness. And Maggie and Mouse have a funny relationship because they both come from totally different perspectives [where] they agree to disagree and enjoy each other for it!” Robb said of the four friends in The Carrie Diaries.

Throughout the series, Carrie will be building her confidence and really learning who she is, but rather than rebelling like her little sister Dorrit (Stefania Owen) through stealing, smoking, and breaking curfew, Carrie dives into a more adult world of New York City nightlife, hiding her age so she can try to land a dream job already. Both, you could argue, are trying to grow up too fast, but they are taking such different approaches, it creates tension in the home.

“It ebbs and flows, I’d say,” Robb said of the issues that arise between the sisters. “I think Carrie and Dorrit have a very special relationship. They both come from such opposite head spaces that they’re just like two ships in the night, but at the same time, they appreciated each other for it. Episode 9 is a really nice episode for them where they’re just kind of finding a mutual understanding because they both think so differently, but they’re going to make it work anyway because they’re sisters.”

Similarly, when it comes to Sebastian, Robb echoed that he and Carrie also have “mutual understanding” that creates a bond between them deeper than straight attraction. She lost her mother, and his walked out on him.

“But it’s never really something they talk about, ‘Oh, we have all these mother issues!’” she said. “It’s something the fans can see — can connect [the dots]. ‘Oh, this is why this happened, and this happened.’”

And Robb believes the audience for The Carrie Diarieswill not only see nuances of characters in each other, but also reflected back in their own lives and aspirations. She certainly has.

“Carrie from Sex and the City is such a relatable character, and I feel like, as I get older, I want to be her. I want to be that comfortable with my body and my writing and knowing what I want and just being fabulous. She’s so riddled with neuroses and she’s so complex, but I think this version of Carrie as a young woman is very relatable to me as a young woman and to older viewers and how they felt [as teenagers],” Robb said.

“What do they want? What do their parents want for them? What do their friends want and why do they want it? And figuring out boys, relationships, and how that all works!”

The Carrie Diaries premieres Monday at 8PM on The CW.

Goodbye Gossip Girl, hello Carrie Bradshaw!

The CW’s Sex and the City prequel The Carrie Diaries  is one of the most anticipated midseason shows. And judging from this newly released trailer — which premiered during Monday night’s Gossip Girl series finale — it won’t disappoint. The series follows Carrie, played by AnnaSophia Robb, in 1984 as she falls in love for the first time with Manhattan.

The ’80s-inspired trailer introduces us to Carrie’s high school friends – Maggie (Katie Findlay), Mouse (Ellen Wong) and Walt (Brendan Dooling) — and her first serious love interest Sebastian (Austin Butler). Carrie’s free-spirited fashion editor mentor Larissa (Freema Agyeman) also makes her debut.

And if you’re wondering where Carrie’s BFFs — Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte — are, The Carrie Diaries takes place before the fab foursome even met.

“We didn’t want to do the Baby Muppets syndrome — ‘Oh, it’s baby Samantha! It’s baby Miranda!’” executive producer Amy B. Harris said at the New York premiere of the series in October. “There would never be a Charlotte, because everyone’s been a Charlotte until they’ve had their heart broken three times.”

“These are all characters that are different than the Sex and the City characters,” she continued. “Those archetypes are still there. You can see how she became friends with Miranda and Samantha.”

The Carrie Diaries premieres January 14, 2013 at 8PM on The CW.

AnnaSophia Robb was all sorts of glamorous on Thursday, as the 18-year-old was hard at work on the set of The Carrie Diaries in New York City.

Donning a fancy black gown, colorful necklaces and a headful of ‘80s-inspired hair, Robb was spotted hanging out in between scenes and staying warm — and comfortable — in a gray cloak and a pair of Uggs.

“Another beautiful day in the city filming #TheCarrieDiaires with @rkohnke,” Robb wrote on Twitter, giving with a shout out to her co-star Richard Kohnke.

Just a few weeks ago, patient fans of the new show were treated to a new Season 1 preview, courtesy of the CW.

And from the looks of it, the show is packed with plenty of friendship, love (hello, Austin Butler) and of course, fashion.

“I think the character is a real individual,” author and executive producer Candace Bushnell said at a panel in New York on Oct. 22.

“She’s not necessarily a flower. She blazes her own point of view in life.”

The Carrie Diaries premieres in Jan. 14, 2013 on the CW at 8PM ET.

On Friday, the network released a series of totally ’80s cast portraits, featuring the young cast donning an array of neons. 

And if you’re wondering where Carrie’s BFFs — Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte — are, The Carrie Diaries takes place before the fierce foursome even met.

“We didn’t want to do the Baby Muppets syndrome — ‘Oh it’s baby Samantha! It’s baby Miranda!’” executive producer Amy B. And yes, skeptics: Sarah Jessica Parker approves. “She sent me a really lovely note of encouragement, passing the torch,” said Robb at the premiere event. “It was really nice.”
