It looks like Anne Hathaway is anything but miserables.

The 29-year-old Dark Knight Rises actress was seen taking a break from filming the big screen adaptation of Les Miserables, and was soaking up the sun in Miami, FL on Friday May 11. Showing off her skinny frame, the star was all smiles as the paps snapped a few photos as she took a dip in the ocean with some friends.

We’re glad to see her having a little fun, as her new role is pretty intense.

Anne is playing Fantine in the big screen adaptation of the hit Broadway musical Les Miz, who is basically a starving refugee. Check out some photos of her extremely skinny frame while on set below.

Les Miz should be hitting theaters around Christmas time, and Anne is already getting Oscar buzz from the role, thanks to a short clip that was played at CinemaCon last month. Maybe she’ll have to wait until after awards season next year to tie the knot with beau Adam Shulman? We can’t think of a better weddding present than an Academy Award!

The two got engaged late last year, but Anne has had a whirlwind last few months, between filming Les Miz and The Dark Knight Rises, which hits theaters in July.

Catwoman, Bane & Batman! New ‘Dark Knight Rises’ Trailer Emerges (VIDEO)

It’s one of the most highly anticipated movies of the summer, and while the world waits for July 20, 2012 to get here already, a new Dark Knight Rises trailer has been released featuring all the fan-favorite comic book characters, and the impeccable writing and directing of Christopher Nolan (Inception, Dark Knight).

Christian Bale reprises his role as Batman (aka Bruce Wayne) while some new faces and characters appear in the film including Anne Hathaway as Catwoman, Tom Hardy as the villain Bane and Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John Blake.

The film is set eight years after Dark Knight (which came out in 2008 and featured the late Heath Ledger as the Joker), and in the newest trailer, shows Batman beat up and held captive by Bane.

Is that you, Anne Hathaway?

The Love and Other Drugs actress was seen shooting scenes for the big screen adaptation of Les Miserables with her co-star Hugh Jackman in London on Wednesday, and the 29-year-old actress was barely recognizable. With her hair practically in a buzzcut, the normally healthy looking star was anything but.

Taking on the famed role of Fantine in the musical, we guess Anne is just really getting into character.

Anne is playing Fantine in Les Miz, which is set during the French revolution, who is not only starving but cuts all her hair off in an attempt to trade for food.

Though there were reports Anne was only eating 500 calories a day to prepare for the role, her rep has since shot them down. Also, there have been plenty of celebs who have gone through dramatic transformations for their craft. Check out some of the most intense below.

Feeding Tube Diet Catches On With Brides-to-Be, See Celebs’ Extreme Weight Loss Regimens (PHOTOS)

The latest wave in weight loss requires no eating at all, but rather a feeding tube that is inserted into through the nose to send nutrients. ABC News reported that brides-to-be are using the shocking fad diet to lose up 20 pounds fast before their wedding, and since news of the weight loss craze hit the web, it’s all anyone can talk about.

“It is a hunger-free, effective way of dieting,” Di Pietro told the broadcast. “Within a few hours and your hunger and appetite go away completely, so patients are actually not hungry at all for the whole 10 days. That’s what is so amazing about this diet.”

But this isn’t the first (and certainly won’t be the last) extreme measure we’ve seen people take to shed a few pounds. Celebs have been doing crazy diets for years in an effort to land a film role or fit into their red carpet gowns.

Seeing as the feeding tube diet has shocked us all, we wanted to remind you of other diets tried in order to tip the scales in stars’ favor. Check out the gallery above.

2. The Master Cleanse: This diet allows you to only drink a modified juice of homemade lemonade, maple syrup, water, and Cayenne pepper. No solid foods for 10 days. Beyonce followed the Master Cleanse for her role in the movie, Dreamgirls. She reportedly lost 20 pounds in only two weeks!

3. Baby Food Diet: This diet calls for eating 14 jars of baby food throughout the day, with an option to have one adult meal at dinner. Reese Witherspoon has reportedly given the diet a try.

4. Cabbage Soup Diet: Want to lose 10 pounds in only a week? This diet allows you to eat all of the cabbage soup you want for seven days. Celebs like Sarah Michelle Gellar and Jamie Pressly have used this diet to lose weight quickly.

5. Juice Diet: Gwyneth Paltrow followed a mostly juice diet to shed a few extra pounds. The three-week detox juice program consists of two liquid meals a day and a solid one in between.

The 29-year-old actress — who recently chopped of her long locks for her role in Les Miserables – showed off her fit figure and gorgeous hair as Catwoman in these newly released shots for the highly anticipated summer sequel The Dark Night Rises.

The villainess also dons the cover of this week’s Entertainment Weekly fully suited up alongside her co-star Christian Bale as Batman.

Anne did a lot of extreme training to prepare for this coveted role played in the past by Hollywood hotties Michelle Pfeiffer and Halle Berry.

“I had to physically transform,” she told EW. “[Director] Chris [Nolan] sat me down at the beginning and said, ‘Joseph Gordon-Levitt did all of his own fighting in Inception. That one zero-gravity fight? He trained for two months.’ I basically left his office and went to the gym and just came out about five minutes ago.”

Anne Hathaway On 500 Calorie Diet For ‘Les Miserable’ Role: Report

If this report is true, Anne Hathaway is exercising a lot of will power! The British publication Daily Mirror is reporting that the Oscar nominee is on a 500 calorie diet in preparation for her role as Fantine in Les Miserables after she was asked to lose 16 pounds in three weeks.

“Producers have assigned her a personal trainer and she is literally eating nothing more than a couple of apples a day, and some protein – mainly in the form of a shake,” the Daily Mirror reports.

Anne, 29, is taking on the role of a dying, hungry prostitute, and according to London Daily Mail, she was a healthy size 10 before starting this crash diet. She’s not the only one who’s shed some weight for this movie.

The usually jacked Hugh Jackman, 43, was nearly unrecognizable when spotted on set as the character of Jean Valjean.

Other familiar faces to join Hugh and Anne in this classic tale include Amanda Seyfried (Cosette), Helena Bonham-Carter (Madame Thénardier), Russell Crow (Javert) and Sacha Baron Cohen (Monsieur Thénardier).

Why is Oscar nominee Anne Hathaway, 29, comparing herself to troubled starlet Lindsay Lohan, 25? In a candid new interview with The Sun, Anne opens up about how her mother taught her not to judge others.

“Lindsay Lohan and I have more in common than people think,” says Anne. “We’ve all done things we shouldn’t.”

She elaborated a bit, adding that she had somewhat of a wild past:

“It is just that I did stuff at college when nobody knew about it, so I’m not a saint. I wasted time doing self-destructive things. I found out you can only dance on so many table tops. I got all that out of my system and I am healthy and grounded.”

Hathaway also credits her mother for teaching her to have a sense of humor in tough situations as well as how to stay confident regarding her weight in such a superficial industry. No wonder Anne is one of the most grounded stars in Hollywood!
