So I very recently finished reading The Hunger Games Trilogy. Yeah, I know, I’m like more than three years late to the party. Whatever, sue me.  For all you know, I was busy doing very important things like saving the world or re-watching all seven seasons of Gilmore Girls. But anyway, I really enjoyed the books. And the first movie, I thought, was not all bad for an adaptation. It was very faithful to the book! Good job, everyone. MAY THE APPLAUSE BE EVER IN YOUR FAVOR.

How does this relate to anything? Well, this sweded/homemade Catching Fire trailer is also really good, and it reminded me of how good the books were and also how decent the first movie was, and I wanted to share my thoughts with you because, well, to be quite frank, I’m bored and lonely. But enough about me! Let’s move on to the laughter!

Operation Hot Mother is a go. With less than two weeks before Arrested Development‘s long-awaited fourth season, a trailer has been released. It features everything an AD fan could want: Michael, GOB, Lindsey, George Michael, Lucille, Tobias, George, Maeby and Buster. Plus an ostrich, a vulture, magic tricks illusions and Buster’s good old hook.

This season picks up in real time after we last saw the Bluths. Some things have changed: Michael looks to have finally moved to Phoenix and George Michael and Maeby are in college. Diehard Arrested Development fans know that Buster (Tony Hale) is a mama’s boy, but the new season of the FOX-turned-Netflix series is proving that even the mother-and-son duo can take their unorthodox relationship to a whole new level.

In the new season’s very first preview clip, Lucille (Jessica Walter) finds a way to get around the building’s strict no smoking policy and — now that the Bluth matriarch is under house arrest — the fact that her ankle monitor prevents her entering the balcony by adopting some sort of mama bird mouth-feeding method.

The long-awaited sneak peek is a mere snippet of it will appear in one of the 15 episodes that Netflix will release on May 26.

In addition to the show’s full original cast, many new actors will appear in the show, including Kristen Wiig, John Krasinski, John Slattery, Conan O’Brien, Seth Rogen and Isla Fisher.

New episodes will also see the return of beloved guest stars such as Henry Winkler, Scott Baio and James Lipton. 

The original main cast reunited for the Season 4 premiere at Los Angeles’ TCL Chinese Theatre this Monday.

“Time has not been kind [to them],” Jason Bateman, who plays Michael Bluth, said of his fictional family. “So we’re all kind of a little banged up.”

It’s been seven years in the making, but last night the Bluth family was finally back together again. The cast of the much beloved show which includes Jason Bateman, Jeffrey Tambor, Jessica Walter, Portia de Rossi, Will Arnett, Tony Hale, David Cross, Michael Cera and Alia Shawkat walked the orange carpet at the TCL Chinese Theater for the premiere of the show’s new season, which premieres on Netflix May 26.

The show joins finds the Bluth family seven years after we last saw them in the season three finale which aired in 2006. The Bluths have all split up and “time has not been kind” to any of them. “So we’re all kind of a little banged up,” Bateman, who plays Michael Bluth, said.

Everyone in the cast reiterated how excited they were for the show’s return.

De Rossi said of the reunion: “such a relief. It’s so exciting. I’ve been waiting for a long, long time.”

“Seven years in the waiting, as they say,” said Walter, who plays the cold and calculating Bluth matriarch Lucille. Calling the first day shooting “emotional, for me,” Walter added: “I care about this show a lot. It meant a lot for me in my career.”

The entire fourth season, which consists of 15 episodes, will be made available to stream on Netflix next month. In addition to the show’s full original cast, many new actors will appear in the show’s long-awaited fourth season including Kristen Wiig, John Krasinski, John Slattery, Conan O’Brien, Seth Rogen and Isla Fisher.

As for the rumors about an Arrested Development movie to follow season four, the cast played coy.

“If there is a movie, I think we’ve kind of caught the audience up from 2006 to 2012. I think that was the purpose of this series,” said de Rossi. “And now by the end of this series we’ll be in current time. That’s all I know.”

This is anything but a huge mistake.

Netflix announced Thursday that it will premiere the much-anticipated fourth season of Arrested Development on May 26 at 12:01AM PST.

Fifteen episodes of the Emmy-winning comedy will be available at once — the first batch of new episodes since FOX canceled the series in 2006. (The show had originally received a 14-episode order.)

“In truth we are doing something very ambitious that can only be done with Netflix as partners and on their platform. Finally my simple wish for the show is coming true: that it be broadcast every second around the clock to every television, computer or mobile device in existence,” series creator Mitchell Hurwitz said in a statement Thursday.

“The highly anticipated return of this show is sure to make history all over again,” Ted Sarandos, the chief content officer of Netflix, added.

Arrested Development, which will see the return of its entire original cast, is just the latest move by Netflix to capitalize on its growing television network.

Earlier this year, it premiered the political thriller House of Cards, to much acclaim and online steams.

With Storm Nemo in our midst, the activities on the eastern side of the country are quite limited these days. So for those of you east-coasters with lots of extra indoors time on your hands (or west-coasters, too, for that matter), we’ve compiled a list of the top 11 TV shows to catch up on in lieu of the upcoming Spring season.

Whether it’s a show you’ve been meaning to start watching, or a show you miss and want to re-watch, take a look at our list and indulge in the lack of eating, sleeping, or doing anything else kind of binge that is beginning a new TV series. If it’s one of the shows in our list, you’ll be glad you did!

1. Arrested Development. A tongue-in-cheek comedy that tried to gather its footing in mainstream TV. Based around the hilarity that is the dysfunctional Bluth family, the three-season long show had all the right material, but all the wrong publicity. After tepid ratings, the show got cancelled by FOX in 2006, much to the fans’ despair. However, after 6 years of silence, the cast (Jason Bateman and Michael Cera in their breakout roles) and creators reunited to announce the production of a fourth season to be released exclusively on Netflix in May, 2013. After watching the first three seasons, you’ll be itching for the fourth. And with all 52 episodes on Netflix, it only makes sense to start the show from the beginning in preparation for one of the most highly anticipated revivals of the season.
Commitment: 3 Seasons, 52 episodes, 22 Minutes each — Approximately 19 hours

2. Downton Abbey. This British show serves as the highest rated show to ever air on PBS, creating buzz all over the American TV world. With an explosive cast including Harry Potter‘s Maggie Smith, and awards being thrown at the show left and right, it’s been called “one of the best shows Britain has ever created.” The best and worst part about British shows is that they have short seasons. All three seasons are available to buy on itunes, which includes episodes that haven’t aired yet, here in America, giving us the entire British soap opera series at our fingertips — including this season’s striking finale.
Commitment: 3 Seasons, 25 episodes, 45-66 Minutes each – Approximately 20 hours.

3. Breaking Bad – It’s almost impossible to have a conversation these days about TV without mentioning AMC’s Breaking Bad. This show has been raved about from the day it first premiered back in 2008, catapulting its stars, Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston, into super-stardom. The show’s fifth season is returning in March, so now is the perfect time to catch up with TV’s hottest meth makers, fresh off of a successful Emmy season.
Commitment: 5 Seasons, 54 episodes, 47 minutes each – Approximately 42 hours

4. House of Cards. This is the first original series to be produced and aired exclusively on Netflix, meaning that it could be a hit or miss of a show. Critics and viewers agree that the show is a hit, and is fit to be aired on a more public platform. The all star cast, including Kevin Spacey, and the curiosity alone will make you want to watch. There is really no reason to not watch this show. The entire first season of 13 episodes is available on Netflix, and so far, the first season can’t be watched fast or often enough. There’s as much quality as there is quantity.
Commitment: 1 Season, 13 episodes, 45-60 minutes each – Approximately 13 Hours

5. Mad Men. When Mad Men premiered in 2007, it quickly became the frontrunner of a series of AMC hits. Set in the fascinating venue of 1960′s New York, this drama will get it’s hooks in you from the very beginning. With the first 4 seasons all available on Netflix, it’s easily accessible to get ready for the shows highly anticipated 5th season premiering in April. And if nothing else, the lead is played by Jon Hamm, who is either shirtless, or dressed to the nines in every episode. Enough said.
Commitment: 4 Seasons, 65 episodes, 46 minutes each – Approximately 50 hours

6. The Walking Dead. Everything about this show is unprecedented. AMC took a risk making a show with very short seasons revolving around a zombie apocalyptic world, but if the rave reviews and amazing ratings are any indication, it more than paid off. With all this talk of zombies these days, it’s exciting to get a well-written show giving all the worrying people out there a real take on the eternal question of “What if Zombies actually did take over the world?” Practically speaking, the show has only 2 short, but action-packed seasons all available on Netflix. Also, with Season 3 returning on Sunday, AMC is marathoning Season 2 and the already aired episodes of Season 3 on Saturday and Sunday — set your DVR! So, what are you waiting for?
Commitment: 2 Seasons and 8 Season 3 episodes, 27 episodes, 45-60 minutes each – Approximately 24 hours

 7. The Wire. Set in the world of the underground drug trade in Baltimore, this gritty drama is still being raved about years after it went off the air. With a successful five-season run, adorned with awards and great reviews the whole way through, The Wire marked one of the first of many hits from the house of HBO. There isn’t a revival or a premiere coming up for this show. In fact, it came and went, airing the series finale in 2008. It’s just a powerful, unique show that everyone should watch. And if we’re still talking about it despite it being off the air for almost 6 years, that’s got to mean something, right?
Commitment: 5 Seasons – 60 episodes – 50-60 minutes each – Approximately 58 hours

8. Deadwood – Westerns are never out of style. And in the world of cowboys and bar brawls, it doesn’t get any better than Deadwood, South Dakota. This HBO series only got to entertain us for three seasons, but each episode packs enough punch (literally) that you won’t feel the least bit disappointed. Go back to your roots with American’s oldest of successful genres. Deadwood’s an American gem and it’s all accessible through HBOGo for subscribers and iTunes.
Commitment: 3 Seasons, 36 episodes, 55 minutes each – approximately 33 hours

 9. Homeland. As one of Showtime‘s most successful dramas, Homeland is sure to be present in conversation, awards announcements, and on TV for years to come. Having just competed Season 2 and Season 3 returning in the fall, the plot will thicken just enough for you start counting the days until September. This political thriller just got Claire Danes her second Golden Globe of the season. It’s a product of our times and sometimes it hits too close to home. It’s on iTunes and, of course, the Showtime Anytime app.
Commitment: 2 seasons, 24 episodes, 50-60 minutes each – Approximately 22 hours

 10.  Game of Thrones. -  This HBO series based on George R.R. Martin’s fantasy novel series, A Song of Fire and Ice, single-handely put fantasy shows back on the map. Since it’s premiere in 2011, the fictional kingdoms of  Westeros and Essos that the show takes place in keep getting more and more intense. Think of it as Lord of the Rings meets The Young and the Restless. Garnering more and more fans every episode, this isn’t a show you want to fall behind in. Who doesn’t like a good (like, really really good) escape into fantasy from time to time? With the aired episodes all available on HBOGo and iTunes, there is plenty of time to catch up before Season 3 continues in March. Now, you have no excuse to not be in the loop!
Commitment: 2 Seasons, 20 episodes, 50-60 minutes each – approximately 19 hours

 11. 30 Rock. The comedy series, created by Tina Fey, just came to a  heartfelt close after a successful seven season run. The premise of a fictional TV show set inside 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York City won six golden globes, and multiple primetime Emmy Awards because of its impeccable cast and writing. Comedy television at it’s finest. Plus thanks to our Eat Like Liz Lemon map, you can indulge in one in all the edible delights of one of TV’s most comedic characters. If you didn’t just watch the series finale, this is a good way to see what all the fuss was about for the last six years. Lucky for you, Seasons 1-6 are available on Netflix. And by the time you’ve completed those, Season 7 might just be available. If not, there’s always iTunes! Season pass, anyone?

The first official still for Arrested Development‘s highly-anticipated fourth season has hit the web.

Conan O’Brien, who was confirmed for a guest spot on the cult comedy earlier this year, shared the new season’s first look on his Twitter, writing:

“Here’s the 1st official photo from the new Arrested Development on @Netflix. Spoiler alert: I’m an amazing actor.”

In the photo, series lead Jason Bateman — reprising his role as the family’s worrywart Michael Bluth — is seen speaking to the talk show host and his sidekick Andy Richter.

Diehard fans will remember that Richter has made cameos on the show in the past as his fictional quintuplet brothers Donnie, Chareth, Rocky and Emmitt Richter. The word’s still out if the actor will be finally playing himself in the upcoming season, which will be made available exclusively on Netflix in 2013.

Fan favorites Liza Minnelli and Mae Whitman, who plays Lucille 2 and Ann (her?) respectively, are too set to return to Arrested Development. The new season will also see appearances by John Slattery, Henry Winkler and Isla Fisher.

Get ready! Season 12 of American Idol featuring judges Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Keith Urban and Randy Jackson will premiere in a two-night event on Wednesday, Jan. 16 and Thursday, Jan. 17. Though MTV’s Jersey Shore is currently airing its final season, Snooki & JWoww will be back in the winter. Season 2 of their spinoff will premiere Tuesday, Jan. 8 at 10 PM. On the second season, we’ll get an inside look into Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi preparing for her son Lorenzo and Jennifer “JWoww” Farley getting engaged. [MTV]

The Bravermans have done it! NBC’s Parenthood beat both CBS’ Vegas and ABC’s Private Practice in the ad-coveted 18-49 demographic with a 1.9 rating. The only show to beat the drama in the 10 o’clock hour was FOX’s makeup broadcast of The X Factor. Meanwhile, the premieres of ABC’s Happy Endings and Don’t Trust the B in Apartment 23 were both down from their previous season premieres. FOX’s New Girl took the gold in the demographic at 9 PM while Go On had the most overall viewers with 6.4 million viewers. [TVLine]

Season 4 of Arrested Development just got sweeter. On an appearance on Conan, funny man Will Arnett revealed that Conan O’Brien and Andy Richter will both be popping up on the show. The cast of the cult TV series has been hard at work during the recent months filming the show’s new episodes, which will be made available exclusively on Netflix in 2013.

The internet combusted into frenzy last week when Entertainment Weekly released photos from the cast’s latest photo shoot. To the delight of fans everywhere, actors Jason Bateman, Michael Cera, Portia de Rossi and David Cross all reunited for the vintage-inspired spread.

Some of the cast members have gotten in trouble in the past for reportedly “leaking” information regarding the show’s upcoming episodes.

“[Show creator Mitch Hurwitz] has been yelling at me because, like, stuff in the background I’m accidentally getting that actually has some relevance and I don’t realize it. So I’ve stopped,” Bateman told Vulture in September.

One incriminating tweet included Bateman spilling about an upcoming cameo from the cast of Comedy Central’s Workaholics.

The actor said of the flub:

Well, I wanted to take a shot on the first day of lights and camera and, like, “obviously, he’s on a set,” and in that shot are a couple of cast members from a show Workaholics. And after I took that picture, like hours afterwards, I was talking to those actors and a kid came up asking for their autograph. And I said, “Are you guys in a movie or a show or something?” And they were like, “Yeah, we’re in this show called Workaholics.” And I was like, “Oh cool, I gotta see that.” And then of course once the Tweet was up, I’d already sent out the Tweet, but I didn’t put two and two together and a day later I saw that it was all over the boards: “Oh my god! The Workaholics are in it!” Mitch said, “Hey man …” [does scowling Mitch impersonation].

Mae Whitman was so convincing as the bland Ann Veal on Arrested Development that you may not remember the actress was even on the show. But Whitman insists that Ann is just as forgettable as ever in the upcoming Season 4 of the series.

“Does Ann change much? That’s a good question,” Whitman told Celebuzz at the recent Toronto press day for The Perks of Being a Wallflower.

“I mean, I think Ann’s whole thing is that she’s so bland that she’s barely even perceptible as a human. But she appears in a few different places, so we’ll see.”

How do new ‘Development’ episodes stack up against the iconic originals?

Since appearing on Arrested Development, Whitman has carved out a successful career for herself both on screen and off: she provided the voice of Katara in 59 episodes of Avatar: The Last Airbender, and played a jilted ex in the cult classic Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.

Revealing circuitously that she indeed was filming scenes for the show, Whitman indicated that her aptitude for getting involved in fan-friendly projects dovetails pretty directly into her own interests.

“I was lucky enough to be at the set the other day – maybe even working – and it was just incredible,” Whitman said.

“As somebody who was as big of a fan as I was involved in it, I was really excited to see where they would go with it. And it is just as good if not better than it originally was.”

Who knew that the power of gum could reunite Arrested Development co-stars Will Arnett and Jason Bateman?

The two former Bluth brothers made a hilarious short for Orbit gum along with Rachael Harris and Parks and Recreation‘s Aubrey Plaza. The short follows Jason and Rachael as they help their daughter prepare for prom. The two seem a little nervous when their daughter declares that the new “boy” she is seeing is her “soulmate” but “nervous” doesn’t even begin to describe how they feel when they actually meet their daughter’s date.

Luckily, the family is able to settle things all with the power of some yummy tasting gum. Gum: it saves lives! Or, at least it saves a young lady’s reputation.

We have some bad news for Arrested Development fans: there isn’t going to be an Arrested Development movie. We know, it is crushing news. We needed to take a get ahold of ourselves after we heard so we could process this news.

The news comes from TV Squad while they were doing an interview with David Cross. The interviewer naturally asked David about the long-awaited and often-hinted Arrested Development movie which would give the show’s sometimes rabid fans a much needed AD boost.

David told the interviewer that the movie is “not going to happen” because it has been “way too much time” since the show went off the air and everyone is doing different projects. Come on!

However, David did leave us one small glimmer of hope, he mentioned that he would like it if AD did a reunion or Christmas special (like they do for British shows) on TV, and it might be easier to execute than launching a movie. So, hey, there’s that!

In a way it is sort of a relief to know the fate of the AD movie. Rumors were constantly flying about the state of the production and any time an actor who appeared on the show was doing press for some other project they would be asked about the reunion film. So at least we can all die knowing the fate of the Arrested Development movie. Don’t pretend like it wasn’t keeping you up at night.

Mollygood.com reports that plans are underway for cult favorite sitcom Arrested Development to be made into a movie. Rumors have been flying for awhile.

The Emmy and Golden Globe-winning Fox series portrayed the eccentric adventures of the previously wealthy Bluth family. The show was cancelled before its time in February 2006.

Arrested Development star Jeffrey Tambor (he played twin Bluth brothers) states that he has spoken with the show’s creator, Mitch Hurwitz, and “the movie is a go!”

No word on when, where, what or who but “when the writer/director calls you, it’s a pretty good sign,” Tambor said.

This might come as news to Michael Cera. The young breakout star of Arrested Development (he played cousinly incest-minded George Michael Bluth) has gone on to sardonic, befuddled movie stardom in hits such as Superbad, Juno and Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist.

“I don’t think I would want to see a movie of the series if I was a fan,” Cera has said.

Looks like someone’s up for a pay increase to reprise a role.

Get your passport, sweetie darling! Jennifer Saunders‘ cult classic comedy series Absolutely Fabulous is headed to America—again.

The series follows two narcissistic, intoxicated older gals, perpetually hunting for youth, glamour and gratuitous praise. The original show ran on the BBC from 1992 to 1996, and was later resurrected from 2001 to 2005.

Fox will update the British import against the backdrop of Los Angeles, with support from the creative teams behind Arrested Development and Saturday Night Live.

This isn’t the first stab at Ab Fab for America. Over ten years ago, then-comedy queen Roseanne Barr snatched up rights to the property and attempted an ill-fated remake starring Carrie Fisher.

Michael Cera, everyone’s favorite awkward teenager, has a new movie coming out next month, Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist. 

Is his character any different from his past movies? Nope, but nobody is complaining! 

The last few times we saw Michael were in 2007′s sleeper hit Juno and in the mega-successful Superbad. 

Cera first came into the spotlight in the short-lived, but extremely well-loved TV series Arrested Development. Rumors have been out for years about a big-screen adaption of the series, but Michael has dashed those hopes. 

According to the National Post, the 20-year-old stated, ”I don’t think I would want to see a movie of the series if I was a fan, anyway.”

Damn…hopefully his new movie will suffice.
