“He thought it was one of the best judging days he’d ever done,” a source close to the show — which held auditions in Austin, Texas on Thursday — told Celebuzz.

“Simon just loved the first day.”

As we were first to report, there was a lot of fun and frivolity on the set with Lovato, 19, at one point calling 52-year-old Cowell ”old and impatient.’”

Later, ex Idol mouth Cowell was joking about a contestant butchering one of Lovato’s own songs to which the “Skyscraper” songstress snapped back at the show head honcho: “At least I have a song Simon!”

The insider, who watched from the audience, told Celebuzz: “Austin had a lot of incredible auditioning but it was a big day for new judges too and no-one knew what to expect,” the source added.

Spears, 30, though had a controversial start to her X Factor tenure, reportedly leaving the set after being irked by a contestant’s performance.

That’s not true, according to our show insider.

“She took a break … for about 15 minutes – it wasn’t a big deal. She didn’t walk off, all the judges had a break,” the source said.

Members of the audience suggested Spears was visibly upset when an unidentified contestant belted out a version of her song “Hold It Against Me,” prompting her to quickly leave the panel.

“Britney looked a little shy in the first few auditions but by the second session she was really getting into it,” the source added.

“Right from the start, Britney knew what acts she liked. She wasn’t scared to disagree with Simon either.

The 19-year-old’s first day of judging the hit Fox show in Austin, Texas, involved a day of put downs – not just reserved for contestants. She put Cowell, 52, in his place too.

A source at the auditions told Celebuzz: “Demi has really been brave with Simon, constantly reminding him how young she is and how old he is.

“At one point she told the audience, ‘He’s just old and impatient.’”

Later, Cowell was joking about a contestant butchering one of Lovato’s own songs to which the “Skyscraper” songstress snapped back: “At least I have a song Simon!”

It wasn’t their first only of the day. As Celebuzz reported, Lovato called out her boss for being over the hill.

Meanwhile, Lovato’s fellow new judge Britney Spears took to Twitter on Thursday to dispel reports that she walked off stage during the middle of the auditions after a budding contestant did a rendition of her hit song, “Hold It Against Me.”

Spears, 30, wrote: “#Britneywalksoff??? LOL was just taking a little break people. I am having the BEST time!!!”

New X Factor judge Demi Lovato called out her boss, show creator and fellow judge Simon Cowell, for being over the hill during her and Britney Spears’ first round of auditions in Austin, TX, on Thursday.

“Within a few minutes of judging starting, Demi called Simon ‘grandpa’ because he’s seemingly decided to play the role of Cupid for her,” someone in the audience told Celebuzz.

The 19-year-old’s ‘grandpa’ jab was in response to a comment from Cowell, 52, who told one contestant whom he identified as “cute” that the former Sonny with a Chance star was “single at the moment.”

“Demi thought it was funny and she was laughing at Simon,” said the onlooker, who added “the contestant looked a bit nervous, because as it turned out his girlfriend was in the audience.”

Our spy also tells us 30-year-old Spears — who reportedly signed on to the Fox show in a deal worth up to $15 million — took to the judges’ table “like a duck to water.”

“She is already backing one group who she likened to the Dixie Chicks,” the insider added.

Singing superstars Britney Spears, 30, and Demi Lovato, 19, stepped out in Austin, Texas on Thursday to kick start the audition process for FOX’s hit singing competition, The X Factor. According to Marc, Britney has taken Paula Abdul‘s former seat at the judge’s table, while Demi is sitting where Nicole Scherzinger sat during the first season. Marc also described Demi as “fiesty,” while Britney was “sweet,” and even told to one of the 14-year-old contestants he could be the next Justin Bieber.

A brand new promo for X Factor aired on May 23 night on American Idol finale where Phillip Phillips was crowned winner. In the clip, head judge Simon Cowell is caught saying “What was I thinking?” about hiring the girls.

Britney seems excited at least, telling People at the show’s upfronts,

Sunday night, one of the biggest nights in music returns and we can’t wait to see what Billboard’s awards show has in store for us this year. As you may recall, last year Britney and Rihanna kissed while performing “S&M.”

Being held at MGM Grand in Las Vegas, NV and airing on ABC, the 2012 show boasts acts including Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Lil Wayne and of course, Rihanna!

Olly Murs, who was the runner up on the UK’s X Factor in 2009, will not only tour with the boys of 1D this summer, but he has released his first single in the states, “Heart Skips a Beat,” and it’s already catching tons of buzz!

Celebuzz spoke with the 28-year-old up-and-comer about his toughts on Britney Spears and Demi Lovato joining the US version of the X Factor, to a possible duet with One Direction.

How excited are you to go on tour with One Direction this summer?
It’s pretty amazing. I can’t believe it. It’s been an amazing couple of months. Getting signed, touring America, and my video for the “My Heart Skips a Beat.” So, it’s brilliant, and with One Direction, they’re great guys, great lads. It’s going to be so much fun on the tour. They’re just great guys [...] I can’t wait to get involved.

How long have you known One Direction?
I’ve known the guys for about a year and half. I did the X Factor in 2008 and they did it in 2010. I had a chat with them and got to know them more [...] We exchanged BBMs and numbers and spoke more since. Their ride has been amazing. Now they’re so well here in America, which is amazing.

Was the first music video you filmed for “My Heart Skips a Beat”?
In the U.S., yes it was. I’ve done seven videos in total and obviously, all them been done in the U.K. This is the first one I’ve done for the U.S. For the fans over hear, something fresh and new for them. We wanted to do something different for the U.S. and for the U.S. market – something fresh for the fans. I can’t wait for them to see it.

What was it like filming that?
Yea, it was the Rose Bowl [Pasadena, Calif]. It was incredible. This was the history of the stadium, and it’s such an old school stadium, so to be stuck all day with some really hot girls — it was really fun and I hope the fans like it. I hope it does well, so fingers crossed!

As a former X Factor contestant, how do you think Demi Lovato and Britney Spears will do as the next judges of the U.S. version of X Factor?
Everyone is so excited to see Britney Spears on X Factor in the U.S. It’s going to be phenomenal, she’s a huge, huge superstar. I think it’s going to be really interesting to see her behind the panel as well as Demi Lovato. I think that Britney is the biggest coup. I think for the first time in her career this is her opportunity to show off [...] her personality every week and seeing as she’s going to come across. I’m so intrigued to see how she does. I think she’s a great star.

You hosted the UK X Factor after show, The XTRA Factor, so who do you think should be the new host of the U.S. version of the X Factor?
I think Simon [Cowell] should ring me up. I’ll be the new host, no problem [laughs]. I had great time when I did it in the U.K. and I’m going to be back doing the second season so that’s like my second gig. It’s going to be good to do that again, but I think in the U.S. the benchmark for the X Factor is to get someone like Ryan Seacrest. He’s like the main one that has sort of personal touch really. But they definitely need an American. He’ll warm the audience up for me to come over and do it for the third season [laughs]. ”

Who would you love to collaborate with?
I’m a huge fan of Michael Buble. I’ve met him a few times and he’s a really nice guy. Someone that I can have a laugh with and perform with would be fun. I think he would be the kind of guy I’d like to work with, definitely. For the moment in my career, it’s trying to forge a career in America. I just want the U.S. adventure to start and hopefully people will like my music.

Do you think you would ever collaborate with One Direction?
I don’t know, you never know in this game. I’m managed by the same company as One Direction, we’re on the same label with SONY so you never know. It could become something in the future, but we’ll see. You never know.

While Howard wrapped up his two-day debut on AGT this week, Britney new gig isn’t slated to hit the airwaves on for some time. No matter, Howard (and many others) are ready to draw conclusions about her performance. Many are unforgiving when it comes to Brit’s 2008 breakdown and continued conservatorship under her dad and fiance. However, numerous reports indicate that she’s ready to take on the task.

Shock jock Howard Stern made his debut as the new judge on America’s Got Talent in a two-part premiere Monday and Tuesday, surprising critics with his mild critiques rather than outrageous commentary.

Is there a feud brewing? We’re used to seeing judges spat — but that’s usually on their own show! With Howard stirring up drama already, it looks like the more things change, the more they stay the same. Here’s  something we know for sure: If the clip below of Howard getting upstaged by a young girl is any indication, this is going to make for some great TV!

The announcement was made during the afternoon, at the network’s Upfronts presentation in New York, which meant the fabulous foursome had plenty of time to enjoy the bright lights of New York in the evening.

So, where did they go?

Restaurant onlookers can exclusively reveal to Celebuzz that the four judges enjoyed a relaxed dinner together in the back of ABC Kitchen, where they stayed for about four hours.

“They were very talkative and enjoying it,” said one source. “They arrived mid-evening, around 8-ish, and stayed until late.”

Spears, 30, looked “amazing,” said an onlooker, donning a black dress (her third of the day) with her hair up. The Womanizer singer reportedly spent a lot of her time talking and joking around with Cowell, 52, while Lovato, 19, chatted it up with Reid.

“All four looked like they were getting on well and relaxed,” said the restaurant onlooker.

Cowell reportedly sat in between Spears and Lovato, and sipped on Sapporo beer.

Reid, 55, was the first to leave the restaurant, and was followed by Spears, who left with her managers. Cowell and Lovato left at the same time, said onlookers.

After months of speculation, E! Online is reporting that it has been officially confirmed that the 30-year-old “Slave 4 U” singer will indeed join Simon Cowell and record exec L.A. Reid at The X Factor judges table for the FOX show’s second seaon. For the first season of the hit singing competition (which originated in the UK), American Idol judge Paula Abdul and Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger were part of the elite judges group, but parted ways shortly after the first season ended.

Now that Brit is squared away, who will the final judge be?

Names such as Miley Cyrus, Avril Lavigne, Fergie and Demi Lovato have been tossed around, with many saying the producers are leaning toward 19-year-old Camp Rock star Demi.

Though this is (potentially) exciting news, remember, British pop star Cheryl Cole was “officially” a judge for season one last year, but was only around for one episode, so it looks like anything is possible!

The ‘Party in the USA’ pop star is on Simon Cowell‘s top-secret shortlist that also includes Fergie, Avril Lavigne and Demi Lovato, an insider confirmed.

“There have been talks with Miley,” the source revealed.

Whilst Britney Spears has not yet inked her deal, it’s believed to be inevitable that she will join Cowell and fellow judge L.A. Reid, the chairman of Epic Records, in a deal worth up to $15 million, the source added.

“Britney’s deal is not done, it’s close, but we are not that far ahead to be making a formal announcement,” a source told Celebuzz.

Last week, in a move believed to be tied to Spears’ new X Factor gig, a Los Angeles judge made the ‘Toxic’ singer’s fiancé, Jason Trawick, a co-conservator, allowing him to sign off on decisions related to her career.

19-year-old Cyrus’ link to the vacant role comes as Cowell seeks to replace Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul, who he fired after last season.

An X Factor spokesperson refused to confirm talks with any of the stars when contacted.

American Idol‘s Top 6 took on Queen, plus another song of their choosing. Adorable Hollie Cavanagh took on the inspirational Miley Cyrus ballad “The Climb.” Needless to say, she earned herself a standing ovation from the judges. Watch:

It was over two months ago that music lost the iconic Whitney Houston. In honor of the late singer, Glee paid tribute with a jam-packed musical extravaganza. The highlight of the episode came in the form of their acapella cover of “How Will I Know.” Take a look:

With two weeks left of The Voice‘s second season, the field is wittling down to the most powerful performers. Resident rocker Juliet Simms was not voted through by America, but for her last chance performance, she laid it all on the line with her rousing cover of Natalie Imbruglia‘s “Torn.” Check it out:

“Jamie’s thrilled,” his attorney Geraldine Wyle told reporters after the decision was made. “It’s all in the family.” 

Here’s how the new co-conservatorship will work out: 

Jamie will still have control over the 30-year-old pop star’s multimillion-dollar empire. Her father and another attorney will remain in charge of those aspects. A conservator typically maintains legal authority over someone’s personal care, such as medical care. 

A source tells People that “Britney enjoys plenty of personal freedom and that the conservatorship is mostly in name only.”

In order to end the conservatorship, a judge must declare that she can handle her own affairs. 

Most recently, Britney has made headlines with a rumored $50 million deal to join X Factor as a judge on the next season of the show.
