Rock and roll poppa Pete Wentz dropped the microphone in favor of monkeying around with son Bronx during an outing  on Tuesday at a Beverly Hills park. Who says rockers can’t have any clean fun?

Wentz, who recently traded in his slick spiked strands for natural curls, enjoyed time alone with his son following a visit to a nearby doctor’s office.

The fashionably dressed family was spotted visiting a friend’s unfinished store in Studio City, California on Wednesday afternoon. Ashley looked ’60s chic in a leopard-print car coat while Pete looked handsome in a red Comme des Garcons PLAY cardigan. Not to be outdone by his parents, Bronx sported a sweet Stella McCartney for BabyGap jacket. Cute!

Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz share an oddly named baby, Bronx Mowgli, and seemingly one of the happier unions in the young celebrity universe.

But according to an item in Page Six, even these two have their battles.

Ashlee is reportedly irritated that she is left home watching the baby while Pete, the breakout star of the band Fall Out Boy, gets to go out and play.

“Ashlee and Pete are on the rocks. He is going out all the time and she’s stuck at home. It’s just not working,” a source says.

Seeing as Ashlee just scored a part on the Melrose Place remake, Pete might have to curtail his providing an insulting synonym for his critics and get on Bronx duty for awhile.

Their rep is denying that there is marital friction going on and says that the couple is currently in Australia reconnecting without their son.

It sounds like there could be a reason for that sudden vacation.

Ashlee Simpson has reportedly joined the cast of the upcoming revamp of 90s sudser Melrose Place on the CW.

Simpson, who hasn’t been on TV since starring on the old WB network’s 7th Heaven seven years ago, will portray small-town girl Violet, according to EW.

Her character is described as “possessing a naivete that masks the shrewd sex-kitten within.” MEOW!

The CW greenlit the launch of Melrose Place 2.0 when its predecessor 90210‘s revamp created a major buzz last year.

Ashlee (who officially goes by Ashlee Simpson-Wentz) took a hiatus from TV awhile back to work on her singing career.

She also famously married Fall Out Boy‘s Pete Wentz, and gave birth to their son – Bronx Mowgli.

Simpson, along with her husband, will get her returning to television feet wet when she guest-stars on the March 18 espisode of  CSI:NY. The husband and wife play Bonnie and Clyde-esque outlaws.

Other casting rumors for the show include original cast member Heather Locklear returning as calculating advertising exec Amanda Woodward, and the possibility of The OC‘s Mischa Barton returning to the genre that made her famous.

Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy was spotted lumbering along in some furry boots at Los Angeles International Airport on Thursday.

Future CBS star Wentz, never one to avoid androgyny, seemed content to be seen in boots that might ordinarily be something a woman (or an Inuit deep in the wastes of Alaska) might wear.

This is a look that might not help with Pete’s synonym problem.

Besides pushing the envelope of winter fashion, Wentz was also one of the many celebrities who was able to take part in history—namely the inauguration of Barack Obama as our first African-American president this week.

Us reports that Wentz, 29, who campaigned for the Obama administration, was at the Pre-Inaugural Ball on Monday night and spoke about how he feels his efforts were only a small part of it.

“When you’re at an event this large and when you’re in a city like this and you see the people who have done so much, you realize that you were kind of throwing pennies,” he said. “But to be honest, this campaign was proof that everyone contributed in small ways … [everything] really did count. Who would have ever guessed this a year ago?”

Pete also said that he intended to school his son Bronx Mowgli about his dad being present for such a momentous occasion.

“I think I’ll explain it to him many years from now, and maybe he’ll believe his dad was here, maybe not,” Wentz said.

But will he also admit to wearing mom Ashlee Simpson‘s boots? They are Ashlee’s, right?

The two most important men in Jessica Simpson‘s life, Dallas Cowboys quarterback/boyfriend Tony Romo and dad/manager Joe Simpson, recently enjoyed a game of golf together at the Weddington Golf & Tennis Club in Studio City, California.

Word is that Romo and Jess are on the fast track to marriage, and perhaps some bonding time between daddy, 50, and beau, 28, will hasten the deal.

This is a much different picture from when Papa Joe’s interfering ways (he’s said to manage almost every aspect of Jessica’s life—from photo shoots to boyfriends) were reportedly the reason behind Jess and Tony’s last breakup. Has Tony been sipping on the Simpson family Kool-Aid?

Jessica might have realized that her contribution to the Dallas Cowboys Wives’ Official Cookbook didn’t ensure that she was in fact wifely material.  She may have sent Daddy in to work his magical managerial ways and help close the deal.

In an interesting twist, leaving the golf course at the same time as Romo and Pops arrived was Ashlee Simpson‘s ex-boyfriend, solo artist Ryan Cabrera, 26.

Ash is now married to Fall Out Boy‘s Pete Wentz, with whom she had a child, Bronx Mowgli.

As a musician, Cabrera hasn’t been heard from much since splitting with Papa Joe’s youngest. Coincidentally, Joe Simpson was managing Cabrera’s career at the time of the rocker’s goodbye to Ashlee.

Papa Joe might want to point out to Tony what could happen if you leave a Simpson.
