Justin Timberlake, Jessica Biel, Sarah Jessica Parker, Rachel Zoe and Brooke Shields are among the stars participating in the event, which began its first wave of auctions on December 6 that concludes tomorrow, December 16. The second and final wave starts on Friday and runs until December 27.

Winning bidders will receive an entire bag of coats from the grouping of celebrities they chose. For example, the “TV personalities” bag includes jackets from Kathy Lee Gifford, Clinton Kelly and Kyle Richards.

“On My Own” singer LaBelle and Lipstick Jungle actress Shields were just two of the celebrities on hand to add some sparkle to the Snowflake and Bubble Spectacular at Saks Fifth Avenue flagship store in New York on Monday. The event was a treat for the eyes and ears, featuring a performance by LaBelle as a dramatic light show and bubble display combined to create a stunning visual effect that appeared to transform the appearance of the building itself.

Saks also commissioned the talents of 10 top designers, including Marc Jacobs, Calvin Klein, and Oscar de la Renta, to create create one-of-a-kind dresses for the event.

Brooke Shields has decided to join Team Fur in a big-time way, designing her own signature fur coat at the Kopenhagen Fur Studio. Because, apparently, it’s been a childhood dream of hers. And she really likes fur. Like, really, really, likes fur.

While discussing the design, Shields gushed,

“Wearing fur may be associated with something grandmotherish. Something you wear when you visit the opera, or if you are a rock star and wear it inside out. But I will advocate that both my generation and the younger generation can wear fur. I will wear the fur garment when I follow my children to school, when I drink coffee and when I sleep.”

Wow; she sleeps in fur? Now that’s devotion. Never mind that popping sound you just heard; it’s just PETA president Ingrid Newkirk‘s head exploding in a burst of critter-loving fury.

In a special commemorative issue of Rolling Stone, on sale Friday, Brooke says, “Nothing was jaded about him.”

The two became “instant friends” after meeting when she was only thirteen, especially because she felt that sexual tension was off the table. She claims she was “the most celebrated virgin ever” at a time when women “wanted to throw themselves at (Jackson) and feel like they were going to teach him.”

The more their relationship grew, Brooke notes, “the more asexual he became to me.”

“He was like a little kid who talked about the bases—what first base was, what second base was,” she recalls. “It sounded very odd to the outside, I can imagine, but to the inside, to someone who’s never really left his bubble, you can understand how he would be curious.”

The 44-year-old actress admits that the last time she saw Michael was at Elizabeth Taylor‘s wedding in 1991. “We snuck in and took pictures of ourselves next to her dress,” Shields remembers. “We always seemed to revert to being little kids.”

People magazine reports that the former Lipstick Jungle actress and the tabloid have reached an agreement, following a brouhaha over Brooke’s dementia-suffering mother, 75-year-old Teri Shields, being checked out of her New Jersey nursing home in mid-May.

At the time, Shields accused reporters from the Enquirer of sneaking Teri out of the facility in order to get an exclusive story.

Also at the time, the paper claimed that the “reporter” was actually a longtime acquaintance of Teri’s who was merely taking her out so she could run some errands.

Now it seems that the Enquirer is willing to make amends for the incident.

“I am very pleased to report that [the] National Enquirer was prevailed upon not to publish a story,” Shields’ attorney, Gerald B. Lefcourt, has anounced. “Further, it has or will be apologizing publicly. Finally, it has agreed to make a generous donation to further research on dementia and to encourage others to do so.”

Lefcourt added, “I am glad that Brooke Shields and her family can consider the matter now closed.”

The 43-year-old Blue Lagoon actress and former Lipstick Jungle star admits in the latest issue of Health magazine that her biggest health regret is not having lost her virginity earlier in life.

“I think I would have had sex a lot earlier [if she could do it all over again]! ” Shields says. “I think I would have lost my virginity earlier than I did at 22. I had the public and all this pressure, and I wish I had just gotten it over with in the beginning when it was sort of OK.”

Shields explains that she had self-image problems as a youth, which hampered her love life, which in turn caused her to seek shelter in a protective cocoon of her own flab. Giving her virtue up at a younger age, she posits, would have helped her avoid all that.

“I think I would have been much more in touch with myself [had she lost her virginity earlier," Shields elaborates.  "I think I wouldn’t have had issues with weight—I carried this protective 20 pounds [in college]. It was all connected. And to me, that’s a health regret.”

With all the talk of an obesity epidemic in America these days, it’s amazing that the Surgeon General hasn’t brought this up as a possible solution before.

According to the Enquirer‘s account, the elder Shields has known the reporter in question for “more than 10 years,” and during a visit to her nursing home Shields asked the reporter to bring her on some errands, including a trip to the bank, and take her out to lunch.

Apparently, some journalists will do anything for an exclusive.

Pretty Baby actress Brooke Shields told People magazine on Friday that her mother, 75-year-old Teri Shields, was checked out of her Old Tappan, New Jersey, nursing home on Thursday by two National Enquirer reporters seeking a “tabloid story.”

The elder Shields, who suffers from dementia, was later found unharmed at a restaurant next to the assisted living center.

“I intend to take every lawful action against all who were involved or who authorized this despicable act,” Shields declared.

Shields says that, on late Thursday afternoon, Old Tappan Police told her that two National Enquirer reporters “who falsely claimed they were friends of [Teri's]” checked Teri out of the nursing home.

“They then drove my 75-year-old mother around looking for a tabloid story,” Shields continued. “As anyone knows who has a parent who suffers from dementia or Alzheimer’s, it is one of the most difficult experiences you can go through as a son or daughter. The idea that the National Enquirer took advantage of her state is reprehensible and disgusting.”

Captain Thomas Shine of the Old Tappan Police Department says that officers were called to the nursing home at approximately 3 p.m. on Thursday to look for Shields, and were told by a facility supervisor that she had been checked out.

“Our officer located her with some form of a journalist, I think a freelance journalist, in an eatery right next door,” Shine noted. “She wasn’t harmed in any way shape or form. She was fine. The officers discussed the circumstances with her. And she literally walked with one of my officers next door to the assisted living center.”

No charges have yet been filed, but police are investigating “who allowed her to leave the facility,” according to Shine, who adds that one of the journalists did seem “familiar to Mrs. Shields.”

People magazine reports that Sutherland’s lawyer, Michael C. Miller, has released a statement claiming that the 24 actor isn’t to blame for allegedly head-butting designer Jack McCollough on May 4 during an after-party for the Met Costume Gala in New York.

“We are  troubled by the untruthful and self-serving information circulating regarding Kiefer Sutherland and events of last Monday evening,” the statement reads. “We are confident, however, that the investigation being conducted by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office and the NYPD will confirm that Kiefer Sutherland was neither the instigator nor a wrongdoer in this incident.”

Miller didn’t bother to specify which information he considers to be “untruthful” and “self-serving.” According to accounts, Sutherland head-butted McCollough after the designer accidentally bumped into Brooke Shields. McCollough asserts that the alleged incident left him with a broken nose that required surgery.

Meanwhile, an attorney for Shields has issued his own statement on her behalf, recounting the evening’s events.

“While at the party she was bumped into by Jack McCollough and Kiefer Sutherland became concerned. Kiefer has always been a gentleman in her company,” reads the statement from Shield’s lawyer, Gerald Lefcourt. “Both Jack and Kiefer are friends of Ms. Shields and she regrets this unfortunate situation.”

Sounds like a case of he said/she said/he head-butted.

Sutherland, who has been charged with third-degree assault in the incident, is due to be arraigned on June 22 at Manhattan Criminal Court.

According to a friend of Sutherland’s, he’s already feeling remorse over the incident.

“Kiefer is sorry it happened,” the friend notes. “Absolutely. It’s terribly regrettable.”

Kiefer Sutherland may be taking his role as Jack Bauer on 24 a little too seriously. 

At Monday night’s MET Costume Institute Gala after-party, the hard-partying actor headbutted and broke the nose of Proenza Schouler designer Jack McCollough . All the details are fuzzy, but Kiefer is claiming that he was trying to protect Brooke Shields from Jack. 

Brooke was not harmed and is claiming that there was no inappropriate conduct that would warranted the alleged attack. A rep for the actress told TMZ, “Nothing happened to her … Jack did nothing inappropriate. It’s not clear what caused Kiefer to do what he did.”

While it is not yet known if Brooke was touched in the incident, she will be interviewed by the NYPD today for her side of the story. 

Kiefer is currently on probation in Los Angeles for his most recent DUI arrest last year. He was allegedly drunk at the time of the incident. 

The 43-year-old actress tells Us Magazine that she still thinks her NBC drama Lipstick Jungle will be renewed—even though the series’ finale airs tonight.

“We keep getting e-mails—they’re all positive—and the sets are still up,” Shields offered while attending a Louis Vuitton-sponsored cocktail party on Thursday night.

Maybe Brooke should have eased up a little on the cocktails. Or maybe she’s confusing encouraging e-mails from her stage mother Teri with a groundswell of public support.

In November, the Pretty Baby star lashed out against rumors that her series—which ran for two seasons—was tanking, claiming that the show’s huge popularity among DVR users was creating a negative impression.

Now, even with the program’s imminent demise, she maintains her hopeful stance. “I’m not going to give up until I get the final word. I’m hanging on,” Shields says. “I have faith.”

Sure, Brooke; and while you’re keeping hope alive, might as well push for a Suddenly Susan reunion while you’re at it!

Despite reports to the contrary last week, Us notes that Brooke Shields told reporters at Sunday’s Kidsfest in Manhattan that her NBC drama has not been canceled.

“They thought that because My Own Worst Enemy has been shut down that the same thing had happened to us, and it’s not true,” Shields, 43, said.

“They’re not breaking down the sets. We’re still working. We still have more to do, so it’s erroneously presented that we’ve been canceled, thank God.”

The problem with Lipstick Jungle, now in its second season, appears to be that viewers are watching on their DVRs, not in real time.

“They just need to figure out how to reconcile advertisers’ money because the advertisers don’t want you fast forwarding commercials.”

A suggestion: More commercials featuring a shirtless Robert Buckley!

The Lipstick Jungle trio took one of their infamous filming breaks in New York today and hit up Madison Avenue arm-in-arm to do some shopping.

Hopefully they found a hat shop along the way, because their identical black chapeaus display a distressing lack of originality.

Then again, goofy hats seem to be the hot new accessory for actresses filming in New York.

Even so, you wouldn’t find their costar Robert Buckley running around in one of those things. He tends to apply a minimalist approach to his wardrobe.

Be careful, ladies; there’s a fine line between rocking a whimsical fashion sense and ending up in the Women’s Headwear Hall of Shame.

Yes, it’s discouraging that you’re missing a fourth girlfriend, and the clothes aren’t as fabulous as your predecessor, but that’s no reason to throw in the (assuredly not Patricia Fields-designed) towel!

Brooke and Lindsay eventually got up off their asses to resume filming their show.

Take heart, girls. You beat out Cashmere Mafia.
