With just one day to go before the biggest night of music — the Grammys — there are so many things to look forward to.

Bruno Mars is back to prove he’s still a jack of all musical trades.

From classic pop powerhouses to hip-hop-tinged tunes and tear-jerking piano ballads, the multi-talented Grammy winner bends genres in his highly anticipated sophomore album Unorthodox Jukebox, which hit shelves on Dec. 11.

“[I was] not thinking about business or radio or politics, just doing what I love to do — and that’s creating music,” Mars said in a recent interview, according to The Washington Post. “Whether it be a reggae song, rock song, a love song, the main thing was just to, whatever I was feeling, to try to capture that emotion.”

Following in the well-praised footsteps of his platinum-plus debut album, Doo-Wops & Hooligans, Mars knew he had a high standard to meet. “I feel like you have to constantly keep proving yourself, and you have to constantly keep getting out there and showing them you’re more than just that one song on the radio that’s just playing,” he explained. “And that’s what I had to do the first time around — I had to keep going out there and keep performing live.”

So is Mars’ Unorthodox old-school sound garnering raves from the reviewers? Read on for a sampling of what the critics are saying about Mars’ sophomore set.

Paste: “For all its ultra-catchy eclecticism, Unorthodox Jukebox really isn’t all that unorthodox — and when Mars plays it safe, he steps sideways: ‘Young Girls’ is a by-numbers ‘shout-out-to-the-honeys’ belter, and ‘Show Me’ is an undercooked foray into dance-hall reggae…. Mars still plays the sweetheart card well, but he’s proven himself way more interesting as a badass.”

MTV: “Jukebox is a very good album indeed, a classically inspired pop release that not only pays homage to the greats (Michael Jackson, Prince and Sam Cooke spring to mind), but also makes a play to be mentioned in the same breath as them. Washington Post: “Unorthodox Jukebox, his impeccably made and compulsively listenable sophomore release, is not your mother’s Bruno Mars album…. It’s thematically darker than the breezy Hooligans, but musically it hews close to the formula established by its predecessor.”

NY Daily News: “If anything, the new Unorthodox Jukebox CD clarifies Mars’ chosen role. He’s a guy who sounds most comfortable, and uncompromising, playing to the whole family. Vancouver Sun: “Who is this guy? Is he a guy who reminds you of other guys? Glitter, glamour and model goddesses descended upon New York City for Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on Wednesday night.

As 40 of the world’s top models strutted the catwalk at the Lexington Avenue Armory, Rihanna, Justin Bieber and Bruno Mars performed during the hour-long skin-baring spectacle.

Taking a cue from the scantily-clad Angels — like Adriana Lima, Miranda Kerr and Doutzen Kroes — RiRi rocked lingerie-inspired looks. As she belted out her chart-climbing single “Diamonds,” the songbird shimmied in a floor-length black gown, with a high slit revealing a garter belt. Rihanna later returned in a short, pale-pink, see-through lace number, flaunting her endless pins alongside the models.

Dressed in head-to-toe white, Bieber broke it down with “As Long as You Love Me,” but slowed it down for an acoustic rendition of “Beauty and a Beat.” And a suited-up Mars sang two tracks off his upcoming Unorthodox Juxebox album, “Locked Out of Heaven” and “Young Girls.”

The show — which Victoria’s Secret has been running annually since 1995 — was split into six themed segments this year: Circus — complete with acrobats and Lima as a ringmaster; Dangerous Liaisons; Pink Is Us; Silver Screen Angels; Angels in Bloom; and Calendar Girls.

And Alessandra Ambrosiohad her moment in the spotlight as she paraded down the catwalk in the $2.5 million jeweled Floral Fantasy Bra, encrusted with amethysts, rubies, sapphires and a large center diamond.

The 2012 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show doesn’t air until Dec. 4 on CBS. But get a glimpse of the show-stopping performances, statuesque Angels and glitzy lingerie styles in the gallery above.

Bruno Mars has a great head of hair — and he knows it.

On Saturday, the 25-year-old delivered his opening monologue for Saturday Night Live with song and dance, naturally, but not without making fun of his famous mane.

“I have to say I’m a little nervous,” the host and musical guest said onstage.

“I’ve never done comedy before. I don’t have any acting experience at all. I’ve never even done a shampoo commercial, which is crazy!” Mars said, before breaking out into a song.

The Grenade singer also mentioned newlywed and SNL double-duty alum Justin Timberlake.

“Will I someday regret this? Is it a terrible mistake? Can I put aside my fears, can I be Timberlake?” Mars crooned.

What were some other highlights from Saturday’s episode?

SNL continued with its season of surprise guest stars. After last week’s appearance by Olympian Usain Bolt, this week’s cold opening was graced with the presence of Tom Hanks, who portrayed an undecided voter from last week’s presidential debate.

“This question actually comes from a brain trust. My friends at Global Telecom Supply. And it’s uh, this is really a pretty good question . . . you better buckle your seatbelts,” he said.

As host, Mars delivered a handful of memorable sketches, including one where he plays an intern at Pandora.

After a power failure, the music streaming company turns to the intern, who is ordered to sing like some of the artists’ Pandora has temporarily lost. Mars does not disappoint as Billy Joe Armstrong, Aerosmith and Michael Jackson (glove included).

Meanwhile Bill Hader’s Stefon finally returned to “Weekend Update with Seth Meyers,” with tips for New York City’s best Halloween spots. Hader loses it, multiple times, of course.

Taran Killam channeled his inner Brad Pitt, starring in a series of commercials mocking the actor’s new campaign for Chanel No. 5.

“I’m sorry, is there no script? Because I’ve been talking to myself for like two hours straight and I’m starting to sound insane,” Killam says as Pitt.

In another ad, the SNL player promotes Taco Bell.

Saturday Night Live returns on Nov. 3 with host Louis C.K. and musical guest fun.

Hips don’t lie, but stage names don’t always tell the whole story. Before she was just Shakira, the Colombian native was known as Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll.

On stage, Canadian rapper Aubrey Drake Graham is simply known as Drake.

Along with his signature makeup, rock star Brian Hugh Warner is commonly known for his stage name Marilyn Manson.

In the music world, it’s not uncommon for artists to perform behind stage names that have little relation to their legal monikers. Others, meanwhile, have just gone with different spellings, dropped their last (or first) names, or come up with something entirely different.

Shakira, Drake and Marilyn Manson aren’t the only celebrities who’ve modified their pre-fame names. Who else has a legal name you might not know about?

Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou, otherwise known as George Michael, wasn’t the first in his family to change names. Before Michael was born, his father moved to England and changed his name to Jack Panos.

Meanwhile Bruno Mars, also known as Peter Gene Hernandez, got his stage name at an early age.

“My dad nicknamed me ‘Bruno’ when I was two years old . . . I was this chubby kid, and at the time there was this chubby [Italian] wrestler called Bruno Sammartino! So my name has been Bruno ever since I can remember,” the singer told B&S magazine in 2010.

He’s the proud owner of a new $3 million mansion and now Bruno Mars has a roommate – his girlfriend of almost a year.

The pompadoured crooner, 26, and his model gal, Jessica Caban, 30, has moving in together, a source close to the singer confirmed to Celebuzz.

“Jessica has moved to L.A. to live with Bruno,” the source, who is close to the couple, said.

The fact he’s just purchased a plush three-bedroom pad in the Hollywood Hills, makes the timing of the move perfect.

The Grenade singer is so smitten with his leading lady he’s also introduced her to his mom for her seal of approval.

“Jessica vacationed with him in Hawaii over 4th of July and met his mother,” added the source.

Despite reports the couple of 11 months had recently become engaged, the source was quick to point out that there is no ring on her finger.

“They aren’t engaged — yet. But they’re really happy and excited to live together. Things are going very well.”

Mars was previously linked to dancer and host Chanel Malvar, while Caban has reportedly romanced comedian Dane Cook and L.A. Galaxy player Bryan Jordan.

Celebs flocked to Warner Music Group’s Grammy Celebration hosted by InStyle at Chateau Marmont on Sunday following the awards show. Bruno Mars gave a show stopping performance with his band outside on the patio that had the star studded crowd on their feet.

Chelsea Handler even hoisted herself up on one of the tables outside to get a better look! Handler was in attendance with ex boyfriend Andre Balazs…are the duo back on? We’re told they certainly looked like it!

Lana Del Rey was also in attendance at the bash, and held court outside keeping a low profile. The singer, who received a lot of backlash following her SNL performance, seemed shy almost hanging with a few people from her team.

Paul McCartney made a late entrance at the famed hotel arriving after midnight and held court outside with security in tow.

A newly single Chord Overstreet was also in attendance but hung out mostly solo aside from chatting with costar Matthew Morrison for a bit.

Fergie, Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson rounded out the A List party.

Bruno Mars looked retro-chic in a three-piece gray suit as he arrived at the 2012 Grammys Sunday afternoon in Los Angeles.

Still, it was hard to notice anything other than his hair, which appeared to reach new heights on the Grammys red carpet.

The very first music video from The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part I soundtrack has finally hit the web.

MTV debuted the new video by Bruno Mars, called “It Will Rain” just moments ago. Watch it here:

While the single has been getting radio play, this is the first visual we’ve seen. Although the video only contains a couple quick Twilight specific clips, the story that plays out between Bruno and his lady friend parallels Edward and Bella’s undying love — complete with dramatic brooding and soft lighting.

And now for a song that every Twihard will be adding to their iPod.

Bruno Mars on Tuesday debuted It Will Rain, a mid-tempo ballad that will be featured on the upcoming soundtrack for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1.

The song is a moviefied version of Mars’ signature mellow sound, in which he laments all of the horrible things that will happen to him, should his lover walk away. Included in the ballad are a bunch of sad weather metaphors and a melodramatic, somewhat threatening line about taking morphine. It’s an angsty teenager’s dream come true!

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part I hits theaters nationwide on Nov. 18.

Us Magazine reported earlier this week that Robert Pattinson was mulling over the idea of possibly recording a solo album, but his rep quickly put that rumor to rest telling MTV that the report was false.
