It was the weekend of celebrity weddings with So You Think You Can Dance host Cat Deeley reportedly marrying long-time friend, and boyfriend of 10 months, Irish comedian Patrick Kielty.

The pair flew a handful of friends and family to Italy for the intimate ceremony in Rome over the weekend.

While reps for the couple have yet to confirm the happy news, many have been left questioning just who is this Irishman who has captured Deeley’s heart.

So, who is the 41-year-old comedian?

While relatively unknown in the States, Kielty has had an extensive career in the United Kimgdom as a comedian. However, the funny man recently made the move to Los Angeles, Calif. to be closer to Deeley.

So here are five things you didn’t know about the SYTYCD host’s beau:

1. The pair met on-set. Deeley and Kielty met on-set. While they only started dating around December last year, the pair first crossed paths in 2002 while hosting a BBC reality show called Fame Academy. The show was a cross between Big Brother and X Factor.

2. It was not love at first sight. Deeley and Kielty had been friends for close to a decade before they started dating in December. However, their love was almost over before it began when Deeley left Fame Academy to purse her career in Hollywood. A very upset Kielty made it clear he was not happy about Deeley’s move.

“Cat’s turned her back on us,” Kielty said at the time. ”Good luck to her and her capitalism.”

3. Kielty tried to launch his career in the States before. In 2004, Kielty was signed to host Deal or No Deal when it was to air on ABC. Instead. NBC picked up the series with Canadian comedian Howie Mandel as host. He also did a pilot version of British quiz show, Stupid Punts, but it was never turned into a series.

4. He carried the Olympic torch through Northern Ireland for the 2012 Games. Kielty was bestowed the honor of running a leg of the torch’s journey through Northern Ireland. Due to the long-running conflict between Britain and Northern Ireland, the historic run by Kielty and other famous Irish, was significant.

5. Kielty has struggled to find the funny side of a tragic personal history. Kielty first made a name for himself in the comedy world by being willing to perform during some of the deadliest periods of the Northern Island Troubles — and even making jokes about terrorism and the ongoing conflict between the Loyalists — those wanting to stay part of the United Kingdom — and the IRA — those wanting an independent Northern Island.

The comedian managed to make such outragous jokes by drawing on own his own tragic past. His father was murdered by Loyalists believing Kielty’s father was a high ranking member of the IRA, an accusation which was later proven to be false. Kielty was just 16 when his father was gunned down in broad daylight.

“In a sense, that was my way of fighting back. I didn’t start doing comedy because of my father’s death, but it did give me a licence to make jokes against that backdrop of continuing violence,” Kielty told the Daily Mail.

“No one could tell me I didn’t know what I was talking about after my father was killed,” he also said. “But mine was not the only family in Northern Ireland to lose a husband or a father.”

Cat Deeley has weighed in on the Kate Middleton topless scandal saying it never would have happened — if someone had been doing their job properly.

The British So You Think You Can Dance host had her say on the scandal that has swept the world, questioning how a photographer was able to get close enough to take the scandalous images of the Duchess of Cambridge while she vactioned in France with husband Prince William.

“I think someone should have been taking a little more care,” the 35-year-old said on the red carpet for Audi and Derek Lam’s party to celebrate the 2012 Emmy Awards.

So why does the Emmy-nominated host place blame at the Palace’s feet?

While Deeley says she hasn’t seen the photographs of Middleton, she believes they should have never been allowed to be taken.

“One thing I will say is that as a British citizen, I pay taxes to make sure they are taken care of and looked after,” Deeley told Celebuzz at the pre-Emmy’s event on Sunday evening.

“It will always happen, that’s the world we are living in nowadays, that will always be a danger.

“I do think however, it was probably someone’s job to make sure … there weren’t photographs being taken.”

Putting the royal scandal of her homeland behind her, Deeley revealed she was surprised she’d been nominated for an Emmy for a second time for Outstanding Reality Host

“It was really, really exciting (to be nominated again),” she said.

With so many reality competitions around, Deeley unveiled the key to success — and she should know, SYTYCD is in its ninth season.

“What makes a great reality show is telling people’s stories,” she said.

“(In our show) dance is the narrative that runs through it, with The Voice it is singing, on X Factor it is singing and on American Idol it is singing too.”

On Wednesday night, the judges of FOX’s hit program So You Think You Can Dance used the magical milestone of 200 episodes to announce the top 20 finalists who will compete to be named America’s favorite male and female dancer.

To mark the announcement and occasion, British-born host Cat Deeley, 35, spoke to Celebuzz and admitted she’s struggling to process that show’s remarkable success.

Deeley said it was her first season season hosting — the show’s second season overall — that was her most memorable.

“I love season two because that was my first season. So that was kind of Travis [Wall] and Benji [Schwimmer]. I love the idea of Travis, who didn’t win the show ..  and [I think they both would say the same thing] Benji has tons of personality, and Travis was the more incredible dancer of the two. So obviously, the American public identified with Benji a lot and voted for him. It was his personality very much that won everyone over.”

Wall has gone on to be an “incredible” choreographer, said Deely.

In two weeks, the current crop will dance to follow in the foot steps of Wall and others.

On Wednesday, July 11 (8:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed), the top 20 finalists will dance for the judges and America on this season’s first two-hour live performance show.

The top 20 will be paired into 10 couples and work with world-renowned choreographers to compose a dance routine representing their assigned genre, FOX announced.

This season’s top 20 are:

Girls – Alexa Anderson, Lindsay Arnold, Witney Carson, Audrey Case, Janaya French, Eliana Girard, Amber Jackson, Janelle Issis, Amelia Lowe and Tiffany Maher.

Boys – Daniel Baker, Nick Bloxsom-Carter, Cole Horibe, Matthew Kazmierczak, Dareian Kujawa, George Lawrence II, Brandon Mitchell, Cyrus Spencer, Will Thomas and Chehon Wespi-Tschopp.

Season 4 of So You Think You Can Dance is wrapping up, and the original group of 20 dancers has been narrowed down to the top seven contenders for the prize of $250,000 and the title of “America’s Favorite Dancer”!

The lucky seven are: Katee, Mark, Chelsie, Courtney, Comfort, Twitch and Joshua.

Judges Nigel Lythgoe and Mary Murphy have good things to say about each dancer. But with the finale looming near, the pair has no influence in the elimination process. It’s up to viewers to vote for their favorite dancer and save them from getting cut!

The show, hosted by Cat Deeley, has had high ratings since Season 1, when it was the #1 show for the summer of 2005.

Tune in this Wednesday to watch the remaining contestants dance. Thursday will see who goes home!
