Cheryl Cole believes that she should still be paid for judging services on FOX’s second season of The X Factor – even if she didn’t make it past open auditions on the first season.

According to a breach of contract suit filed Friday in Los Angeles against Blue Orbit Productions, one of the production companies behind the talent competition, Cole is asking for the payments she would’ve made if they kept her on for Season 2 in a” play-or-pay” contract, Deadline reports.

The British singer and TV personality is asking for not only the $2 million she would’ve made on Season 2, but also the additional $300,000 pay she would have made for living and working for the L.A.-based show. That would include wardrobe, a local residence, a stylist and an allowance.

She’s also seeking interest on the sum and any extra “relief” the court deems she is owed.

A “pay-or-play” contract is a guarantee that a star gets compensated even if they don’t appear in a project — through no fault of their own. It’s meant to make up for the jobs/income a star must turn down to make themselves available for a job.

Cole’s feud with executive producer and judge Simon Cowell has gone on since the snarky judge fired the UK star unceremoniously early from her X Factor judging duties in 2011 and replaced her with Nicole Scherzinger (who was fired herself after Season 1).

In an interview with the UK’s Sun newspaper, Cole gave a first person account of the events that led up to her sacking and it was clear there was no love lost between the two Brits.

“I was furious with Simon for letting it happen like this,” she told the paper. “I believed we had a good friendship and I couldn’t understand why he just hadn’t been straight with me.”

She then shared a curse-laden text message she had written to Cowell, which ended with, “I hate you. I understand you’re a businessman, and what I’ve learned from this is that business means more to you than friendship.”

Celebuzz was unable to contact a rep for Blue Orbit Productions for comment on Friday evening.

When I hear about celebrity women who have vowed not to see the alter again in their lives, I think they may be honoring their biological predisposition. Even if they don’t have grandchildren, older women often get busy raising the culture. They are past the window to be looking for a man to make a baby-nest and are financially secure and enjoying their lives.

They may have committed, long-term love relationships because it feels good, but an old fashioned marriage? That’s for a young woman who wants to marry her assets with a peer and build a life together. But when the life has already been built and comes with houses, kids, grandkids, and payments to ex’s…. well, let’s just say that marriage over fifty gets mighty complicated.

Without pointing fingers to any of the women mentioned in this article, there could also be attachment difficulties in their psychological make-up. I mean, we forgive a beautiful star when she has three marriages and countless boyfriends because we assume the Hollywood culture brings much opportunity and too much permissiveness.

That’s certainly true. But what if that woman lived in a small town? Her friends might stage an intervention and a therapist might discover some major attachment injuries.

My advice to those fabulous women facing the miracle of menopause? Enjoy your life. Keep up the nurturing. Our culture needs your wisdom.

After being discarded on The X Factor, Cheryl Cole may be headed to it’s biggest competitor — American Idol.

According to the NY Post, the British singer was approached by AI executives on Monday to see if she’d be interested in joining Idol – either alongside Jennifer Lopez or as a replacement if J-Lo leaves.

But does Cheryl have what it takes to be an Idol judge?

The singer appeared in the first few episodes of X Factor before being dumped by Simon Cowell. She was criticized for lacking stage presence and for her thick English accent, sources said.

More shakeups may be happening on the Idol set.

Last week on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Lopez, 42, said she doesn’t know if she’ll return to American Idol next season in part because she wants to spend more time with her twins, Max and Emme.

“I don’t know if I can go for a third year,” she said. “I miss doing other things. It really does lock you down, which was nice the first year with the babies being 3, but now they’re getting more mobile, they’re about to go into school. So I just don’t know.”

Other sources claim J-Lo is holding out for more money.

“Unless there has been a sudden change of heart, she’s is not going anywhere,” a source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, told Celebuzz.

The “On The Floor” singer has been on Idol for two seasons with one-year contracts for both. She went home with $12 million the first time around with a nice raise to $20 million for this season.

This color blocking had to be intentional.

Both Cameron Diaz and Cheryl Cole stepped out in a monochromatic fashion for the London, England premiere of their romantic comedy What to Expect When You’re Expecting on Tuesday.

While the British star, 28, opted for stunning a Victoria Beckham Spring 2012 dress, Diaz, 39, went for a sexy strapless white Stella McCartney jumpsuit.

Both ladies paired their off-white looks with fabulous clutches, Cameron’s being a faux leather Grace accessory.

British pop star Cheryl Cole attempted to channel 1960s glam by rocking an insanely high bouffant while attending the Stylist Picks launch party in London, and we have to admit, this isn’t really our favorite.

While we don’t mind the red ensemble, it’s hard to notice anything aside from her beehive ‘do.

This is an odd trio! On the Atlanta, GA set of the book-turned-movie What To Expect When You’re Expecting on Monday, Whitney Port, Cameron Diaz and Cheryl Cole were all spotted separately. 

Whitney looked super hip, per usual, in a pair of short-shorts, a midriff top and a panama hat, while Cameron was working the curls. Former X Factor judge Cheryl was the most dressed up, stepping out in a lacey LBD and sky-high black pumps.

Nicole Scherzinger is taking some tips from former American X Factor judge Cheryl Cole, at least when it comes to fashion. The Pussycat Doll recently replaced the Girls Aloud singer at the judges’ table.

After several months of speculation, it has been announced that British sensation Cheryl Cole will be heading over the pond to judge the US version of The X-Factor.

The 27-year-old beauty, who has judged the UK version of the show as well, was confirmed to be at the judge’s table with Simon Cowell and legendary music producer LA Reid by FOX.

The network released a statement saying:

British pop superstar Cheryl Cole will join Antonio “L.A.” Reid and Simon Cowell as a judge on THE X FACTOR, the highly anticipated singing competition series debuting this fall on FOX. Cole, who has sat alongside Cowell as a judge on the U.K. version of “The X Factor” for three years, is a multi-platinum selling solo artist and a member of Girls Aloud, one of the U.K.’s most successful female vocal groups of all time. Cole will join Cowell, Reid and an additional judge (to be announced) as they travel to THE X FACTOR audition cities searching for the next global superstar or breakout music group.

There is still much speculation as to the fourth judge’s seat, with some saying Simon’s American Idol cohort Paula Abdul will nab the coveted position.

Also, insiders are saying that former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger and High School Musical star Corbin Bleu are in talks to co-host the FOX singing competition show, which will debut this fall.
