Claire Danes’ Patchwork Premiere Dress: Yay or Nay? (PHOTOS)

Claire Danes stepped out at the HBO premiere of Girls in New York Wednesday night, April 4, in a dress that certainly caught our eye. But was it a little too fashion forward for this normally reserved star?

The 32-year-old Homeland star wore a Preen black and gold plaid patchwork ensemble from the designer’s fall 2012 collection. It also had a pop of bright green color on the left shoulder. She topped of the look with simple peep-toe black shoes and a clutch.

Claire stopped by the premiere to support the cast of highly anticipated new series staring the creator and lead actress Lena Dunham.

“I always want that to be the aspirational goal [for women],” Lena told Celebuzz about this project.

The women of TV are getting up close and personal for the May 2012 issue of Vanity Fair. The starlets are seen posing nearly nude in a series of shots that has the sexy starlets sharing a sheet and posing in their bra and panties. The actresses participating in the VF women’s issue includes Modern Family‘s Sofia Vergara, Homeland‘s Claire Danes, Shameless‘ Emmy Rossum, Good Wife Julianna Margulies and Downton Abbey‘s Michelle Dockery.

These women held nothing back with Julianna commenting on her former ER costar George Clooney and Sofia recalling when she knew Modern Family was here to stay. Here are some of the quotable highlights from the magazine’s behind-the-scenes video:

Julianna on the last time she watched an episode of ER: “Oh my goodness. A full on episode was probably the last episode I did, where George Clooney goes — or I go to him — and we ride off into the sunset. And that was probably . . . 10 years ago!”

Sofia on Modern Family‘s instant popularity: “After the first episode aired, and I was getting recognized all over, the street, after the first week so we all knew that it was a good one.”

Michelle on Downton‘s avid audience: “I think the first time I realized Downton Abbey was a hit was when I was sitting in a tea shop in New York, in Greenwich Village, and the couple next to me were talking about Downton Abbey — and then they recognized me.”

Claire Danes Is Harvard’s Hasty Pudding’s Woman Of The Year (PHOTOS)

Golden Globes winner and Yale graduate Claire Danes found herself at Harvard University on Thursday, Jan. 26, where she was crowned by the Hasty Pudding Theatricals as their Woman of the Year.

The Homeland actress, 32, was accompanied by her husband Hugh Dancy while she lead a parade through Cambridge, Mass. that was followed by a presentation of the Pudding Pot at the annual roast. Claire looked to be having tons of fun with the theatrical students as she was all smiles and laughs!

At the event, she was asked what fans of the hit Showtime show Homeland can expect from her character in upcoming episodes (via Boston Herald).

“I don’t know anything. I really don’t, but it may not be a direct time cut. Time will have elapsed, and some episodes will have been shot overseas. Maybe you see Carrie in Iraq again. I hope she’s in better shape than we last found her. I want her to wash her hair and put on some lipstick and come back swinging. She suffered some hard knocks.”

Claire Danes won raves for her performance on Showtime’s Homeland, and we have a feeling she’ll earn similar reviews for her dress at the 2012 Golden Globe Awards.

The Emmy-winning beauty donned a black-and-white dress by J. Mendel, which she matched with jewels by Bulgari. To complete the look, Claire pulled her blonde hair back in a classic updo. Suffice to say, we approve!

Claire is nominated tonight for her performance on Homeland, in which she plays a CIA agent who investigates a rescued Marine she thinks might have been turned into a terrorist.

‘Romeo + Juliet’ Reunion! Leonardo DiCaprio & Claire Danes Chat at AFI Awards (PHOTOS)

It’s been 16 years since Baz Luhrmann‘s visionary adaptation of Shakespeare’s Romeo + Juliet hit the big screen, but the film’s main stars were recently seen having a bit of a reunion!

While attending the AFI Awards at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills on Friday, Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes were seen chatting, and a photog caught the sweet moment on camera.

Hard to believe it’s been so long since the film that helped launched these two into super stardom was released!

Former Emmy winner Claire Danes showed up in a style that could go either way on the Best and Worst Dressed lists. The actress wore a floor-length, head-to-toe sequin black gown with light blue embellishments.

In addition to last night’s grand opening of Tod’s Boutique, another red carpet was rolled out for the launch of Zac Posen’s Target Collection and once again, the fashion battles ensued. In the winner’s circle we would like to congratulate Maggie Gyllenhaal, wearing a patterned dress quite similar to Camilla Belle‘s of last evening. However, every battle FTW must also have it’s FAIL and we can thank Ginnifer Goodwin and her partying pirate style for that.

Actress Claire Danes strikes a pose for the cover of the September Fall Fashion issue of BlackBook Magazine.

For the photoshoot, Danes was cast in the role of “Power bitch, modeling the current ’80s revival in high fashion.”

She admits, “It’s great, as a woman, to feel entitled to express strength and power, to not be in some kind of flowery frock running through fields—though that has its place,”

Claire will be back in the spotlight quite soon, as she stars alongside Zac Efron in Richard Linklater’s upcoming film Me and Orson Welles.

Claire Danes Gives Paps the Ring Finger

Claire Danes—who got engaged to her Evening co-star Hugh Dancy last month—indulged in a time-honored ritual of new fiancées yesterday.

Although she did so in an admirably subtle way. The 29-year-old actress was grabbing lunch with a pal in Beverly Hills yesterday. Danes wore a flower-patterned scarf that, coupled with a slight breeze, gave her an excuse to ever-so-artfully flash her big, honking engagement ring at the paps’ cameras.

Sure, she could have just thrust her hand under their lenses, virtually demanding a chorus of oooohs and ahhhs from the shutterbugs. But this is Angela Chase from My So-Called Life we’re talking about. She just doesn’t roll that way.

Well played, Ms. Danes, well played. Hugh’s a lucky man to have you.
