The onslaught of vampires continued this week with fans being treated to not one but two vampire franchises. Not only did the latest installment of the Underworld saga, Underworld Awakening, hit theaters, but vampire fans got to whet their appetite with new stills from Johnny Depp‘s new flick, Dark Shadows.

But these blood-thirsty creatures have existed in Hollywood cinema for decades. So why the fascination? Celebuzz is taking a look back at the best vamps from pop culture. Flip through the gallery to see which celeb has donned on the fangs over the years!

So far, there’s been three different actors who’ve portrayed the infamous Count Dracula, and who can forget the 80s teen horror film The Lost Boys?! The affection we have for sexy vamps is more than we can bear.

Opening this Friday, Kate Beckinsale reprised her role as Selene, a vampire who hunts werewolves, in Underworld Awakening. Check out the trailer below!

Last night on NBC was the very first American Giving Awards. It was referred to as “A Celebrity Tribute to Community Heroes” — and that it was. It was an exciting show, full of amazing performances, with the simple goal of spotlighting some of the best charity organizations out there.

Five different causes were chosen based on votes made on Facebook: TWLOHA (To Write Love On Her Arms), The Matthew Shepard Foundation, Let’s Get Ready, Wish Upon a Hero Foundation, and Move for Hunger. Each of the 5 charities would be awarded money to support their cause, with the winning charity being awarded $1 million at the end of the night.

The evening was filled with celebrities. Some were presenting awards, some were performing, and some were there simply to support causes they care about. The night began with a performance from Rodney Atkins. He was followed by performances from Taio Cruz, Leann Rimes, Jackie Evancho, and the evening ended with will.i.am.

We had a chance to chat with Jamie Tworkowski, the founder of TWLOHA (To Write Love On Her Arms) on the carpet before the show.

We couldn’t dream up something like this. To even be in the room with the people here would be wonderful, but to be in the mix and have a shot at the $1 million dollars is amazing … and even more than that, to have a platform to talk about our mission and talk about issues that people tend to not talk about … Encourage people that it’s okay to be honest about your struggles and your questions. As people, we need other people.

Later that night, Jamie was presented an American Giving Award by one of TWLOHA’s biggest supporters, Miley Cyrus. At the end of the show, it was announced that TWLOHA was the winner of the $1 million award!

Obviously, J.R. Martinez has been a busy guy lately with Dancing With The Stars, but when he’s not in endless dance rehearsals, we wanted to know which causes he devoted his time to.

When it comes to troops, I work with Operation Finally Home, which is run by a great friend of mine who is building homes for troops who are severely injured in Iraq and Afghanistan, and building mortgage free, custom homes for them. Also, there’s the Phoenix Society, which is a burn survivor organization for all survivors, and teaches them how to integrate back into day-to-day life, and works to educate the rest of us on how to easily accept these survivors.

We were also able to talk to Judy Shepard, who founded the Matthew Shepard Foundation in memory of her son, who was murdered in an anti-gay hate crime.

We’re focusing right now on bullying in schools with young people, and trying to make their world safer than it has been in the past…. You know, we’re all connected to the gay community somehow, with family members, loved ones, co-workers, people you go to school with…. you just need to care about your fellow human being. So, pick an organization that’s local, or come to our website, just do something to help make life better. Be kind to one another.

Judy was presented her American Giving Award by Modern Family‘s Jesse Tyler Ferguson, who has been a big advocate for anti-bullying. The Matthew Shepard Foundation was awarded $250,000 from the AGA’s last night.

As Miss USA, Alyssa Campanella gets to work with a variety of great causes, but we wanted to know which ones were particularly special to her.

One very special organization to me is Susan G. Komen. My grandmother was diagnosed with cancer last year, and is now officially a survivor. Also, the USO…. My grandfather was in the Navy and my best friend was in the Marines for 4 years in Afghanistan, so to get to volunteer and work hands-on with the troops has been incredible. And also, Gods Love We Deliver. I recently got to work in their kitchens, and got to cook for 4,100 people in 1 day!

“As Miss USA, I get to work with so many great charitable organizations, and I love being able to give back … And seeing other people here who take time out of their lives just to contribute to others as well, it means a lot to be here.”

A highlight of the night was when Donald Sutherland, from the upcoming Hunger Games, presented Colin Farrell with the AGA Leadership Award for all his continued charity work, particularly with FAST (Foundation for Angelman Syndrome Therapeutics), which Colin’s son has been diagnosed with.

It was a great night, and though this was the first American Giving Awards, we’re sure it won’t be the last.

We have seen some of our favorite classic horror movies re-imagined by today’s filmmakers as they try to put a modern take on the magic that left us afraid to turn out the light.

Halloween
Leave it to Rob Zombie to make an already scary movie absolutely terrifying. After being committed for 17 years, Michael Myers, now a grown man and still very dangerous, escapes from the mental institution. His blood lust leads him right back to his hometown, where he wants to find his baby sister, Laurie. This is no family reunion; he wants to kill her!

A Nightmare on Elm Street
A remake of the 1984 classic, A Nightmare on Elm Street follows the finger-bladed demon known as Freddy Krueger as he stalks the dreams of his victims turning their worst nightmares into reality. 

The Thing
At an Antarctica research site, the discovery of an alien craft leads to a confrontation between graduate student Kate Lloyd and scientist Dr. Sander Halvorson. While Dr. Halvorson keeps to his research, Kate partners with Sam Carter, a helicopter pilot, to pursue the alien life form.

That’s right, two of this weekend’s big box office releases are remakes of classic ’80s flicks. First up is Colin Farrell as a sexy (but evil!) vampire in Fright Night. Based on the cult horror film of the same name, Colin plays a baddie vamp who moves in next store to a teenager (Star Trek‘s Anton Yelchin) and reeks havoc on his town.

Next up, Game of Throne star Jason Momoa takes on a role made famous by Arnold Schwarzenegger.

It’s taken awhile for this one to get released, but Conan the Barbarian will finally hit the big screen on Friday. According to IMDB, the film (which is sure to have some epic battle sequences) is about “Conan the Cimmerian and his adventures across the continent of Hyboria on a quest to avenge the murder of his father and the slaughter of his village.”

Let’s not forget about the other two films being released this weekend!

Anne Hathaway and the positively adorable Jim Sturgess (who you probably remember from Across the Universe) play friends (with a bit of romantic tension) who promise to meet up one day every year, and the film chronicles them over the course of 20 years. Check out the trailer for One Day below!

On the more kid-friendly side, Spy Kids is back with Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World, where a new generation of Spy Kids are born. It stars Jessica Alba, Joel McHale and Jeremy Piven. Check out the trailer below!

Horribler Bosses? Boss Harder? We’re sure they’ll come up with something clever.

Director Seth Gordon tells USA Today that he’s considering bringing the baddies back for more. “We’re talking about it,” he says. For those who have seen the movie, there’s one burning question when it comes to a possible sequel. For those who haven’t — SPOILER ALERT!

One of the “horrible bosses,” played by Colin Farrell, gets revenge extracted upon him in the form of bullets. How would they bring his character back? 

“I feel like it would be a shame not have Bobby Pellitt [back],” Seth says. “Maybe in some sort of dream sequence.”

Colin sounds like he’d be up for a return, adding, “[Playing Bobby was] so much fun … I can’t remember having such fun designing the physical world of a character as I have with that guy, down to the car that he drove, the fact that he loved karaoke. All of it.”

Showing off his sculpted abs and biceps, Colin made time for some father-son bonding, as he carried his son Henry, 1, to his trailer.

In the film, Farrell plays a factory worker who begins to suspect that he’s a spy, though he is unaware which side of the fight he’s on — as Euromerica and New Shanghai vie for supremacy.

Colin and actress Alicja Bachleda, welcomed son Henry Tadeusz Farrell on Oct. 7, 2009. He is their first child together. Colin has another son James, 7, with model Kim Bordenave. 

As for his movie career, Colin showed off his comedic talents in Horrible Bosses and will be starring in this action packed thriller and the horror remake Fright Night, out August 19. Watch the trailer:

While Horrible Bosses might be geared toward a more adult crowd, Zookeeper gets pretty wild also.

Kevin James happens to star alongside a very talented cast of zoo animals, such as tigers and elephants, in the upcoming flick Zookeeper. This comedy is family friendly film and brings our imagination to new heights. Rosario Dawson also stars in this film and The Hangover funny man Ken Jeong makes an appearance as well.

The Irish hottie has started filming the remake of the hit 90s action film Total Recall, and the paps caught him looking particularly muscular while on set Friday afternoon.

Between this and his other latest project, we have a feeling the next couple years everything will be coming up Colin.

Not only will he star in the Total Recall remake with Jessica Biel, (set to be released in 2012) but he has the remake of the cult 80s horror film Fright Night, being released later this summer.

The trailer for Fright Night has finally been released, and it looks like a fun time for all!

The horror-comedy remake of the cult 1980s classic stars Colin as a baddie vampire who wreaks havoc on a little town and terrorizes his teenager next door neighbor.

Who else stars in the flick (out in August)?

Star Trek star (and underrated hottie) Anton Yelchin, Christopher Mintz-Plasse (yes, McLovin’) Toni Collette and the dreamy Dave Franco all appear in the movie.

According to The Sun, Colin, 34, and Rihanna, 23, have been exchanging sexy texts ever since the pair met on The Graham Norton Show in November.

“Colin was taken aback by some of the texts,” a source tells the newspaper. “He reckons he might well be in there. They’re both single, so why not?”

Rihanna and Colin met when they were both guests on The Graham Norton Show in 2010. During the show, Colin remarked on Rihanna’s nice “limbs” which he said he mentioned to “get them off my mind.” Yowza! Watch Colin and Rihanna flirt on the show after the jump.

According to The Sun, Rihanna and Colin have tentative plans to meet up in Los Angeles soon.

Colin isn’t the only man on single Rihanna’s radar– the “Rude Boy” singer has been linked to rap star Drake and was recently spotted getting chatted up by actor Ryan Phillippe.

Colin recently split from wife Alicja Bachleda-Curus. The pair have a 16-month-old son, Henry.

Celebuzz reached out to Rihanna and Colin’s reps fro comment but did not receive a response by press time.

Check out this video from Terry Gilliam‘s upcoming movie The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, which Heath Ledger was working on at the time of his January 2008 death.

Following Heath’s passing, Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law stepped in to fill the role of Tony so that  the film could be completed, donating their salaries to Ledger’s daughter, Matilda Rose.

From the looks of the trailer, Doctor Parnassus should be quite the visual feast.
