While midriff styles made quite a few appearances on the red carpet in 2011, this spring season, stars are dressing down the trend.

Just this week and weekend, Britney Spears, Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning were all spotted baring their bellies in casual situations.

Britney, 30, showed off her abs at a Cinco de Mayo party in Brentwood, Calif., KStew, 22, departed out of LAX with a tied-up tee and Dakota, 18, paired a pair of low-cut jeans with a kitty crop top at LAX as well.

Obviously this look isn’t for everyone, but what do you think of the midriff style?

‘Sabrina The Teenage Witch’ Movie Is Officially In The Works! Who Should Play the New Sabrina? (PHOTOS)

Sabrina Spellman is heading to the silver screen!

The Archie comic (and subsequently the beloved 90s TV series) has been approved for a movie makeover. According to Deadline, Sony Pictures is fast tracking the negotiations for a live-action Sabrina The Teenage Witch film, with the the bewitched heroine retooled as a superhero coming to terms with her powers.

Since the most recent Sabrina — actress Melissa Joan Hart — is now a mom of two and a little past the “teenage” phase, Hollywood execs have their work cut out for them in finding a new witch for the movie. Behind the camera, writers Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari are set to pen the script with Real Steel producers Don Murphy and Susan Montford, Archie Comics’ Jon Goldwater and screenwriter Jeff Stockwell all involved as producers.

Although Sony has kept mum about potential cast, Deadline reports that the film itself will have an edgier tone with Sabrina’s beloved black cat, Salem, transformed into a prince that’ll play into her love story.

Twilight and Runaway costars Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning may be oceans away, but they have both been spotted rocking a very similar leather style, one in NYC and one in Paris.

It feels like light years ago, and today, the Twilight actress celebrates her 18th birthday! She’s achieved quite a bit at such a young age! We wonder: how will the young starlet celebrate? On Tuesday, the 17-year-old actress attended the Rodarte Fall 2012 runway show and was decked out in a futuristic blue and gold ensemble. She paired the Star Trek-inspired outfit with a black clutch and peep-toe pumps.

Dakota Fanning is pretty in pink! The Twilight star was spotted with some new pink highlights in her hair while out and about in Beverly Hills, CA.

The Celebuzz staff has to wonder if this slightly out of character look for Dakota (who is usually more conservative) is due to her role in Effie (for which she has to wear a Victorian wardrobe), has anything to do with the colorful, punky ‘do. It’s called breaking character, people!

Kristen Stewart Says Dakota Fanning Is ‘On the Ball’

Dakota Fanning has a career people twice her age dream of, and her friend and costar Kristen Stewart has taken notice. The girls have starred in both the Twilight series and the rock biopic The Runaways, and KStew, 21, chatted about Dakota in the February issue of Cosmopolitan magazine.

“We had a few scenes that were crazy intimidating, and maybe once or twice, [Dakota] was like ‘Okay, I have a butterfly in my stomach,’” Kristen said of shooting Runways with her costar. “Meanwhile, I’m hyperventilating! Sometimes I give her shit for being so on the ball.”

As for how Dakota has shot up to superstardom before the age of 20, the actress admitted to Cosmo,

“Since I was young, I’ve always known who I was. I never really had to go through finding who I am. I’ve always felt really secure.”

It must run in the family as the actress’ younger sister Elle Fanning is also making a name for herself in Hollywood.

Dakota Fanning looked like she was having a good time as she filmed a new scene for the upcoming film, Effie, on Friday in Venice, Italy. The 17-year-old actress, wearing a Victorian dress ensemble, rode a gondola through the canals with co-stars Claudia Cardinale and Riccardo Scamarcio.

The film takes an in-depth look at the mysterious relationship between Victorian art critic John Ruskin and his teenage bride Effie Gray and takes place in 1840’s London.

In a recent interview, Dakota revealed that wearing the Victorian outfits has been the most difficult part of filming.

“Wearing a corset every day has been … interesting. It really does make you feel like you are someone else in a different time. It takes a while to get dressed in the morning and to take everything off, and you kind of get a glimpse into what it was like not being able to take your own clothes off.”

Dakota added, “You have to have someone helping you and putting you into these clothes. It just shows how different everything was.”

Despite her busy filming schedule, Dakota is tackling a big milestone now: starting her freshman year at NYU.

“Going to college is a bit different than going back to high school,” she told People. “You can kind of wear whatever you want, and I had a uniform in high school.”

But don’t expect her to ditch her fashionable ensembles for comfy student style. “If you ever catch me in sweatpants in class, that’s not good,” joked the star. “I’ve tried not to dress like that.”

Is Dakota Fanning’s Marc Jacobs Ad Too Racy? (POLL)

Dakota Fanning, 17, posed for the new print ad for Marc Jacobs’ fragrance Oh, Lola! and some say it’s too racy to handle. So where was the ad just banned?

The U.K.’s Ad Standards Authority released a statement saying: “the length of her dress, her leg and position of the perfume bottle drew attention to her sexuality. Because of that, along with her appearance, we considered the ad could be seen to sexualize a child.”

Jennifer Aniston, Jared Leto and Lady Gaga are just a few recognizable names who’ve posed for celebrity photographer Terry Richardson, and now Dakota and Elle Fanning are in his studio.

Both sisters took a bunch of photos that the infamous photographer then posted on his website Terry’s Diary, with 13-year-old Elle wearing striking eye makeup. Her older sis Dakota, 17, also wore a bit of makeup for the shoot, posing with crimson lips for the black-and-white photos. The blonde Breaking Dawn beauty posed with a school girl pleated skirt that she made a bit edgier with a leather jacket.

Meanwhile, Dakota’s Super 8 sister is making a name for herself in both fashion and movies.

She stars alongside Scarlett Johansson and Matt Damon in her upcoming film We Bought a Zoo, and is constantly fawned over in the media for her red carpet looks.

Dakota and little sis Elle Fanning look very grown up in Vogue’s age issue (out now). It’s easy to forget these two young pros are just that — young! Dakota, 17, and Elle, 13, show their maturity beyond their years as they’re dressed in retro clothes, leather gloves and shiny shoes.

The girls talk to the famous fashion mag about growing up in the business of show.

“I’ve been working since I was six, Elle since two,” Dakota points out, conveying that this is the life they have always known. “What you grow up with is what you become used to.”

The magazine asks: Does the weirdness of being a teenager always in the spotlight, the abnormality of it, ever get on her nerves?

“When you choose to do this with your life, you’re in the public and people watch you,” Dakota replies. “But I’d rather do this than not.”

The siblings are super busy taking over Hollywood — Elle has at several projects in the works — Vivaldi, Frankenweenie, Anne Chambers, We Bought a Zoo and Twixt – while Dakota can be seen in the final Twilight movie and is working on Very Good Girls, Mississippi Wild, and Now Is Good.

The tweens are taking over fashion! New photos of Super 8 actress Elle Fanning‘s moody campaign for Marc by Marc Jacobs have emerged and the fashionista looks like she is primed to take over the fashion world.

The 13-year-old actress isn’t the first young star to get tapped for a high-fashion ad campaign. Hailee Steinfeld recently singed on to be the face of Miu Miu’s Fall line and Elle’s sister, Dakota Fanning, has been modeling for Marc Jacobs since before she was old enough to drive a car.

Elle recently attended her first fashion show when she sat front row at the Chanel Haute Couture fashion show in Paris earlier this month. The starlet – who, with her long legs and thin frame already looks like a fashion model – was on her best fashion behavior and was even supplied a haute couture dress by Chanel to wear to the show.

So, how did Elle land her latest fashion gig? The actress broke onto the scene in 2010′s Somewhere, which was directed by designer Marc Jacobs‘ longtime friend, Sophia Coppola. Somwhere‘s premiere was co-sponsored by Louis Vuitton, the famed French label that Marc also designs for. We’re guessing that when Marc laid eyes on Elle he knew that the stylish young star would be perfect for the youthful Marc by Marc Jacobs fashion line.
