New judges Britney Spears and Demi Lovato are definitely through to the next round, this according to their X Factor boss Simon Cowell.

“He thought it was one of the best judging days he’d ever done,” a source close to the show — which held auditions in Austin, Texas on Thursday — told Celebuzz.

“Simon just loved the first day.”

As we were first to report, there was a lot of fun and frivolity on the set with Lovato, 19, at one point calling 52-year-old Cowell ”old and impatient.’”

Later, ex Idol mouth Cowell was joking about a contestant butchering one of Lovato’s own songs to which the “Skyscraper” songstress snapped back at the show head honcho: “At least I have a song Simon!”

Cowell responded, ”Demi, I think you need to sit in the naughty chair for a few minutes today.”

The insider, who watched from the audience, told Celebuzz: “Austin had a lot of incredible auditioning but it was a big day for new judges too and no-one knew what to expect,” the source added.

“But Simon thought both Britney and Demi were really great. Demi was really confident right from the start and took both Simon and L.A. (Reid) on.”

Spears, 30, though had a controversial start to her X Factor tenure, reportedly leaving the set after being irked by a contestant’s performance.

That’s not true, according to our show insider.

“She took a break … for about 15 minutes – it wasn’t a big deal. She didn’t walk off, all the judges had a break,” the source said.

Members of the audience suggested Spears was visibly upset when an unidentified contestant belted out a version of her song “Hold It Against Me,” prompting her to quickly leave the panel.

“Britney looked a little shy in the first few auditions but by the second session she was really getting into it,” the source added.

“Right from the start, Britney knew what acts she liked. She wasn’t scared to disagree with Simon either.

Demi Lovato has done more than ease into the vacated X Factor judge’s chair — she’s also assumed Nicole Scherzinger‘s role as head honcho Simon Cowell‘s chief antagonist.

The 19-year-old’s first day of judging the hit Fox show in Austin, Texas, involved a day of put downs – not just reserved for contestants. She put Cowell, 52, in his place too.

A source at the auditions told Celebuzz: “Demi has really been brave with Simon, constantly reminding him how young she is and how old he is.

“At one point she told the audience, ‘He’s just old and impatient.’”

Later, Cowell was joking about a contestant butchering one of Lovato’s own songs to which the “Skyscraper” songstress snapped back: “At least I have a song Simon!”

Cowell responded, ”Demi, I think you need to sit in the naughty chair for a few minutes today.”

The source told Celebuzz that it was nothing more than “playful banter” and “Simon thinks Demi is hilarious.”

It wasn’t their first only of the day. As Celebuzz reported, Lovato called out her boss for being over the hill.

“Within a few minutes of judging starting, Demi called Simon ‘grandpa’ because he’s seemingly decided to play the role of Cupid for her,” someone in the audience told Celebuzz.

Meanwhile, Lovato’s fellow new judge Britney Spears took to Twitter on Thursday to dispel reports that she walked off stage during the middle of the auditions after a budding contestant did a rendition of her hit song, “Hold It Against Me.”

Spears, 30, wrote: “#Britneywalksoff??? LOL was just taking a little break people. I am having the BEST time!!!”

New X Factor judge Demi Lovato called out her boss, show creator and fellow judge Simon Cowell, for being over the hill during her and Britney Spears’ first round of auditions in Austin, TX, on Thursday.

“Within a few minutes of judging starting, Demi called Simon ‘grandpa’ because he’s seemingly decided to play the role of Cupid for her,” someone in the audience told Celebuzz.

The 19-year-old’s ‘grandpa’ jab was in response to a comment from Cowell, 52, who told one contestant whom he identified as “cute” that the former Sonny with a Chance star was “single at the moment.”

“Demi thought it was funny and she was laughing at Simon,” said the onlooker, who added “the contestant looked a bit nervous, because as it turned out his girlfriend was in the audience.”

Our spy also tells us 30-year-old Spears — who reportedly signed on to the Fox show in a deal worth up to $15 million — took to the judges’ table “like a duck to water.”

“She is already backing one group who she likened to the Dixie Chicks,” the insider added.

Singing superstars Britney Spears, 30, and Demi Lovato, 19, stepped out in Austin, Texas on Thursday to kick start the audition process for FOX’s hit singing competition, The X Factor. Looking equally stylish in very different ensembles, the “Slave 4 U” singer showed a bit of see-through cleavage in a short, skin-tight coral mini, while the “Give Your Heart a Break” songstress went for a more retro ensemble. However, Demi was able to add a bit of a rocker edge to her green dress and top knot with a black leather jacket.

According to Marc, Britney has taken Paula Abdul‘s former seat at the judge’s table, while Demi is sitting where Nicole Scherzinger sat during the first season. Marc also described Demi as “fiesty,” while Britney was “sweet,” and even told to one of the 14-year-old contestants he could be the next Justin Bieber.

‘X Factor’ Judges Enjoy Four-Hour Dinner Together in New York After Big Announcement (EXCLUSIVE)

Yesterday, FOX finally confirmed the long-awaited news that Britney Spears and Demi Lovato will join Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid on The X Factor this fall, replacing ousted judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger.

The announcement was made during the afternoon, at the network’s Upfronts presentation in New York, which meant the fabulous foursome had plenty of time to enjoy the bright lights of New York in the evening.

So, where did they go?

Restaurant onlookers can exclusively reveal to Celebuzz that the four judges enjoyed a relaxed dinner together in the back of ABC Kitchen, where they stayed for about four hours.

“They were very talkative and enjoying it,” said one source. “They arrived mid-evening, around 8-ish, and stayed until late.”

Spears, 30, looked “amazing,” said an onlooker, donning a black dress (her third of the day) with her hair up. The Womanizer singer reportedly spent a lot of her time talking and joking around with Cowell, 52, while Lovato, 19, chatted it up with Reid.

“All four looked like they were getting on well and relaxed,” said the restaurant onlooker.

Cowell reportedly sat in between Spears and Lovato, and sipped on Sapporo beer.

Reid, 55, was the first to leave the restaurant, and was followed by Spears, who left with her managers. Cowell and Lovato left at the same time, said onlookers.

Demi Lovato ‘Could Be a Good Role Model for ‘X Factor’ Contestants,’ Says Psychologist (EXCLUSIVE)

Demi Lovato has been raw and honest about her past addictions and subsequent recovery, but now she’s facing perhaps her biggest challenge yet as the newest judge on The X Factor.

The 19-year-old Disney star is expected to confirm the announcement of her high-profile gig Monday afternoon at the FOX Upfronts presentation, in New York. In the meantime, many experts are wondering whether the move to X Factor — where she will join Simon Cowell, L.A. Reid and Britney Spears — makes sense.

With millions of viewers watching, the “Skyscraper” singer will be “under enormous pressure,” but has the potential to be a good role model, Vivian Diller, Ph.D., clinical psychologist, told Celebuzz on Monday.

Demi has been outspoken and inspiring to others about how you pick yourself up after you’ve been down … She may be very good, because she cares a lot. Let’s hope that she uses that to be a fair and empathic judge. She could potentially be a good role model for others.

The question on everyone’s mind though: Will Demi be able to make tough judging decisions?

As a refresher: Last season on The X Factor, youngster Rachel Crow was eliminated from the singing competition after judge Nicole Scherzinger couldn’t bring herself to make a decision. The Pussycat Dolls singer broke down in tears, feeling she had let down the up-and-coming singer.

With the upcoming season, Demi will have to judge others — but can she do it without breaking down and revealing her own insecurities?

“If she puts herself in this vulnerable position, she has to work that much harder on being conscious every day that she has her own issues,” Diller said, adding that, as a psychologist, she hopes Demi is seeking counseling to cope with these tough filming periods that may arise.

Demi’s addictions and struggles have been played out in the media. In October 2010, after an altercation with a dancer while on tour with the Jonas Brothers, Lovato’s parents confronted her in an intervention. She agreed to seek help and entered a treatment facility for issues involving bulimia and self-cutting. A year later, she filmed an MTV special, Stay Strong, which featured her road to recovery.

“There’s days where you’re going to struggle,” she said in the documentary. “I cannot tell you that I have not thrown up since treatment. I cannot tell you I’ve not cut myself since treatment. I’m not perfect. This is a daily battle that I will face for the rest of my life.”

Despite her public struggles, Demi has support from FOX and fellow X Factor judge Simon Cowell.

“Demi’s had an amazing career in music, TV and film for someone her age. She’s young, confident, and enthusiastic. I think it’s really important that she speaks to our younger audience. The new panel will be dynamic and will work really well with the changes we are making to the show,” Cowell said in a press release.

Former Disney star Demi Lovato and pop star Britney Spears are set to be the newest judging faces on The X Factor replacing sacked Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul.

The ‘Skyscraper’ musician, who was first linked with the panel earlier this month, will attend Fox’s upfronts presentation for an official announcement Monday morning (May 14), according to TMZ.

Spears, 30, will be in New York as well to announce she joining the show.

Lovato, 19, beat out Miley Cyrus, Fergie and Avril Lavigne for the vacant spots on the panel, next to the show’s founder Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid.

It certainly looks that way, because Miley Cyrus, Avril Lavigne, Fergie, and Demi Lovato are all reportedly in talks to join FOX’s singing reality show competition, The X Factor. While many have been speculating that Britney Spears will be joining the judges on the show, which also includes record exec L.A. Reid, Celebuzz reported on Tuesday that the 19-year-old “Party in the USA” singer is in negotiations as well. However, there are reports that the other three singers are also being considered for the coveted job.

Some fans got a little too close for comfort at the Demi Lovato show in Paraguay on Thursday, where she got caught in a wild fan frenzy that broke out during her performance.

One concert goer got more than her money’s worth after she broke away from the crowd and hopped up on stage. She then approached Demi, throwing her arms around the 19-year-old singer.

While all this was going down, that’s when the real craziness started.

Security quickly came out to remove the girl who rushed the stage, but as soon as they turned their backs on the audience even more fans jumped up to rush at Demi!

She was then hustled backstage, as the ensuing security versus fans melee continued to erupt on stage.
After the overeager fans were contained and removed, Demi came back to screams from the confused crowd. She quickly shut it down, saying, “You guys … you gotta chill out.”

Unfazed, she then rolled into the next song and took back control of the situation.

Establishing control is something Demi has been working on her in her personal life too. In a recent interview that alluded to cocaine use, she says:

“It’s something I don’t really want to talk about … What I can say is that I was depressed. I would come off stage in front of 18,000 people and suddenly be alone in a hotel room. I’d come crashing down and would try to find a way to recreate that feeling, to stay ‘up’.”

Recently rehabbed star Demi Lovato blames the trappings of Hollywood for giving her access to drugs and alcohol. ”Promoters gave me drugs and alcohol in restaurants or clubs,” she tells UK’s Fabulous mag. ”They wanted me to come back so I would be seen there. They were basically kissing my ass.”

The magazine touches on reports that Demi was using cocaine, but she was reluctant to go into detail.

“It’s something I don’t really want to talk about,” she says. “What I can say is that I was depressed. I would come off stage in front of 18,000 people and suddenly be alone in a hotel room. I’d come crashing down and would try to find a way to recreate that feeling, to stay ‘up’.”

Now she realizes she could have continued down the wrong path at the cost of her life.

“Being a celebrity can be dangerous,” she adds. “Nobody says ‘no’. That’s why so many end up overdosing and dying. It could definitely have happened to me.”

Now, she’s on the road to recovery, but it’s one she knows is an uphill hike.

“I’m not saying I’m perfect, or fixed, but I am learning to love and accept myself. My outlook is more positive and I am happy,” she says.

Work it, girlfriend! After Demi Lovato was spotted in a teeny bikini, psychologist and author of The Breakup Bible Rachel A. Sussman says she believes this is a very positive step in the star’s recovery process — and sets a realistic goal for young women everywhere.

“We are all created to look different,” Rachel says, noting that while magazines and advertisements often depict super skinny models, “men actually like women who are full figured” in real life.

“Most woman DO NOT have that skinny body type,” she adds. “Unfortunately many girls who are full figured and healthy feel that they are fat, or too big, and that makes them very self-conscious. It can effect their self esteem too. You should be happy with your shape no matter what. I love it when I’m in Europe and I see heavy women or even grandmas rocking the bikini.”

When Demi Lovato is behind the wheel, look out!

The “Skyscraper” singer tweeted a story Monday night that led to her nearly running over The Beatles icon Paul McCartney. She wrote:

“So…. today I was pulling into a parking space that some guys were standing in the middle of, and almost hit them….. When one of the guys turned around…. it was a BEATLE…….. Yes, YOU HEARD ME…. SIR PAUL McCARTNEY!!! He was so sweet!! Can’t believe I met him today.. WOW!”

The 19-year-old added via Twitter:

And…. I can’t believe I almost ran over a Beatle……. :l

Demi Lovato is taking it all off — her makeup, that is!

The “Give Your Heart a Break” singer gave her skin a little breather and shared a photo of her fresh face to fans during the wee hours of Saturday. The 19-year-old wrote on her Twitter:
