Speaking of hefty, Quaid and his wife, Kimberly, just settled their lawsuit (third item) against Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for the weighty sum of $750,000 this week. The couple had sued the hospital after their newborn twins, Thomas Boone and Zoe Grace, were given an accidental overdose of the blood thinner Helparin in 2007, putting them in critical condition. (Luckily, the twins are doing fine after the ordeal.)

That’s a lot of cash; maybe Quaid should consider putting some of it toward a personal trainer for that pudgy Pug of his.

People reports that Naomi Watts and Liev Schrieber have named their new son Samuel Kai Schreiber. Their newest addition was born Saturday and weighed 7 lbs., 13 oz. “Both mom and baby are doing great,” a rep says.

Dennis Quaid‘s lawsuit against Cedars-Sinai Medical Center has been settled, according to People. Quaid and his wife Kimberly will receive $750,000 as a result of the accidental overdose of their newborn twins in 2007. Twins Thomas Boone and Zoe Grace were born in November 2007 and accidentally given an overdose of the blood thinner Heparin by medical staff, sending them into critical condition. The Quaids also have lawsuit against Heparin’s maker, Baxter Healthcare Corp., accusing it of negligence.

Page Six reports that the creator of a Turkish television show called Perfect Bride is suing Ryan Seacrest and NBC Universal for allegedly stealing the idea for Seacrest’s newest production, Momma’s Boys. Luftu Murat Uckardesler claims that NBC Universal and Ryan Seacreast Productions “willfully appropriated” the format of his show, which broke ratings records in Turkey.

People reports that country star Tim McGraw is denying a story that he has plans to run for governor of Tennessee is 2010. “There’s no truth to this. It’s something he is interested in, but not for 2010. Later in life. I grew up in Louisiana and politics is kind of a contact sport and you grow up knowing about it. I’ve always been fascinated by what can be done in the public arena,” McGraw stated.

He spoke to Rush & Molloy about his fish-lipped ex-wife’s big mouth.

“It was eight years ago, and I find it unbelievable that Meg continues publicly to rehash and rewrite the story of our relationship,” the actor stated. “Also, I find it regrettable that our son Jack has to be reminded in a public way of the turmoil and pain that every child feels in a divorce.”

Quaid’s public dissing of Ryan isn’t the only thing that Meg has to contend with today.

The Daily News story also reports that sources claim that the substance Meg has been injecting into her waxy lips isn’t collagen. It’s her excess butt fat.

So before you kiss Meg, keep in mind which body part you’re actually kissing.

Ryan describes the couples’ 2000 break-up as “incredibly liberating…Now I was utterly free. I didn’t have to care about what people thought. I have gotten to do what I guess I secretly wanted to do. Be totally under the radar and live my life.”

In the past, Ryan has placed the blame for her romantic woes on professional pressures, telling Hello! magazine, “It’s very difficult to be a career person and have a relationship. I didn’t succeed at doing it at all.”

Hmm. Meg’s currently on the big screen in The Women, playing a wife whose husband cheats on her. Perhaps the key to balancing her romantic relationships and a career resides in choosing roles that parallel her personal life.

In any case, Ryan will no doubt be able to look beyond her romantic woes and put on a happy face—with a little help, of course.

At the Maui Film Festival, Quaid received honors and reminisced about how he realized as a teenager what career path he would choose.

“I knew what I wanted to do with my life, and I was like 19. Luckily, I’ve been able to still be here. My greatest accomplishment is that I’m still here, to tell you the truth.”

When he’s back from his Hawaiian idyll, Quaid will be packing up the loved ones and shipping out to Texas to raise the babies in relative sanity (Houston or Austin, depending on whom you believe).

On a side note, ladies, if you’re beating yourselves up because Kimberly looks so svelte after welcoming two new babies into the world, don’t.

Unless, of course, the surrogate mother is now as skinny as Mrs. Quaid, in which case, resume self-flagellation.
